To think salted caramel...

Dollygirl2008 · 29/01/2019 20:15

... is utter filth?? I mean, who the hell thought caramel and salt actually go together? Do you think someone used salt instead of sugar and thought "hang on, I might be able to get away with this...."

Or AIBU and cynical...

Yabu

sparkleandsleep · 29/01/2019 22:26

I agree except for salted caramel baileys, which is one of my favourite drinks (and really difficult to find...)

ForrestPlumppp · 29/01/2019 22:27

Very unreasonable!

Buddytheelf85 · 29/01/2019 22:28

YANBU. I don’t object to it that much in a reasonable pure form - eg someone gave me a box of salted caramel chocolates for Christmas and I enjoyed them. But it’s when people start putting it in everything. Salted caramel flavoured Christmas pudding - NO. Salted caramel hot cross buns - NO. Be away with you, perverts.

ForrestPlumppp · 29/01/2019 22:28

But yes agree it's a bit overdone like pulled pork.

WorraLiberty · 29/01/2019 22:28

YANBU! I hate it.

raindropsonkittens · 29/01/2019 22:29

My dd says it reminds her of when she had boob milk Grin

Buddytheelf85 · 29/01/2019 22:30

Couldn’t agree more with PP re Prosecco. Especially the shit slogans.

StirFriedBadger · 29/01/2019 22:41

First had salted caramel in France years ago, homemade in the Vendee it was fantastic albeit ridiculously sweet.
The stuff we get here flavouring anything and everything has no resemblance at all and is mostly vile.

StrawberryBlondeRed · 29/01/2019 22:55

Uggggghhhh always sounded rank to me.

EhlanaOfElenia · 29/01/2019 22:59

Re the Prosecco-I opened a bottle this evening that was given to me and it tasted a bit bleugh.... I added some of my DSs' summer fruits squash to it - it made it taste MUCH nicer. Waste not want not..!!

newnameforthis7 · 29/01/2019 22:59

I agree. It's minging.

newnameforthis7 · 29/01/2019 23:00

Also think prosecco is utter piss. Fizzy overrated piss.

TheCowboy · 29/01/2019 23:04

Salted caramel is the greatest thing to ever grace this planet.

RebeccaCloud9 · 29/01/2019 23:07

It's supposed to be not even really noticeable as salt, like salted butter, just enhances the flavour. But I think producers have got it so wrong and just over salted. I saw a salted caramel choc bar from an artisan choc stall at a food festival once and it was literally crusted in salt. Vom!

malificent7 · 29/01/2019 23:16

I once bought some salted caramel chocolate from Lidl and there was so much salt on it i could hardly eat it...big granules..put me off.
Salted caramel should have the faintest hint of salt...scrap it altogether and bring back sickly sweet caramel. Yum.

altiara · 29/01/2019 23:23

I love it, but I hate it when it’s called salted caramel and it’s just average to bad tasting caramel. The disappointment is just too much!

Notsurprisedatall · 30/01/2019 00:18

Nothing "salted caramel" ever tastes like salted caramel! I love it, but it's poorly done 99% of the time!

Madhairday · 30/01/2019 07:16

Yanbu, and I can't forgive Cadburys for replacing their normal caramels for salted caramel in milk tray. They've messed with the chocolate enough already, so why did they have to spoil one of the last ones I actually liked? Angry humphh. I just don't get it, and it's everywhere - you can't seem to get just normal ice cream or cake anymore, it's all slated caramel.

Dollygirl2008 · 30/01/2019 11:41

Exactly / what happened to those wobbly crepe caramels!!!! Even those have got bloomin salt in!!!

I'm going to think up my own crazy concoctions and make a fortune....

salt and sugar satisfies two natural cravings we are hard wired to seek them. Salty caramel tastes divine.
Lancashire cheese and apple pie, apple and pork, sweet mint and lamb,
prunes and lamb, of course savoury and sweet can be a good match

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 30/01/2019 12:13

Salted caramel amazing. But salt and sweet together is not a new fad, for me at least. I've been eating salted crisps and chocolate buttons together for years. My favourite popcorn is sweet and salted.

MyDcAreMarvel · 30/01/2019 12:15

Salt and Caramel go together like bacon and maple syrup, especially over fresh waffles...
Perfect example of another disgusting combination .

BeanTownNancy · 30/01/2019 12:25

I actually prefer the taste of prosecco to champagne or cava. Nothing to do with pretending I'm posh when I'm actually poor or anything, I just like the taste more. I'm not very refined. Grin

halfwitpicker · 30/01/2019 12:26

Filth?

Bit strong, no?

Bad day, op?
