AIBU?

DH and his Brexit cupboard

Dh has converted two of our kitchen units into his Brexit cupboard! He has filled them up with all sorts of tinned delacacies including different beans, chilli and dogs (hot!)
He's also stockpiled toilet rolls, medicines, cleaning products etc. It's all stashed away in his new Brexit cupboard, that we have been warned not to touch! I darent tell him that the dc have already been in there hunting for chocolate. They were disappointed to find numerous bags of rice and pasta but alas no chocolate. Seems he has got his priorities mixed up! 😁
AIBU to think this is unnecessary and over the top? I need help to convince him as he talking about stockpiling and filling up the freezer and I'm dreading what concoctions I will find in there! All joking aside, it is just Dh panicking isn't it? We don't really need to be stockpiling food in one of the richest countries of the world, do we?

I see that maryjoyce has the same sentiments as the MPs who say that they know more about car manufacturing than the head of JLR or more about aerospace than the head of Airbus Confused

The British Retail Consortium knows nothing about distribution and how they make sure their shelves are filled and where they buy their supplies from Hmm

We all just need to relax and stop listening to experts in their respective industries Confused

Just musing that the surge in veganism isn't going to do very well at this point (which i'm sure some Brexiteers are cackling over with much glee)...and wondering if the next UN study into the sorry state of this country will be on food inequality and lack of self efficacy...

Carry on.

Has any one considered the basic fact that a lot of our GPS are not allowed to issue extra supplies of prescribed drugs, on the grounds that they are potentially putting increased drug amounts, into their patients lives.
For most of us on them, we would genuinely stockpile, but there will always be some who would use the extra supplies either to overdose on or to possibly sell.

Jens303 can you quote the post where Bellinisurge belittled anyone please? She is the most knowledgeable and calm person on this batshit thread!

oh found the post where she asks you if you had ACTUALLY READ THE THREAD YOU POSTED On?

is that belittling now? its a sensible bloody question if you ask me after reading your first post you plainly didn't read the thread

I think the "belittling" was because of the entirely reasonable suggestion to RTFT Confused

Heaven forfend that we expect people to read before jumping in with their pearls of wisdom tackety boots ShockWink

Still unsure where in the thread it mentions that our farming & fishing will stop but that's likely because i'm stupid I guess ;-)

Personally, I don't expect the world will end because a few housewives are missing their wine & tomatoes.

I'm quite bemused by the angry new peeps on the thread. One wonders if they are all Gove in disguise with their anti-expert stance.

@Jens303
Hi.
Do you know anything about the Hungry Gap - it's when the crops of winter are coming or have come to an end but the crops of spring and summer aren't ready yet. Round about March /April if that period of time in 2019 rings a bell.
Do you know anything about how long it takes to plan for crops and grow them and bring them to market. There are no Brexit fairies ready to wave a magic wand and bring all the fresh food you want, even just seasonal stuff, to the shops when you want it.
As for fish? I love fish. I eat it once a week at least. Does everyone?
Yes, there were massive problems with CAP and CFP. No argument with that. Still not a reason to inflict No Deal on us.

"Housewives" GrinGrinGrinGrin

....dh would love it if I did a bit more housework Wink I stopped doing it when he insisted I stopped the cleaner I'd just found, to take some of the pressure off me as I was working ft and ds was only 2 or 3. He's done it ever since Grin

BELITTLING: asking basic questions of someone with whom you are in conversation in order to identify whether you are both proceeding from the same level of comprehension of the relevant issues.
