to think that £150 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a toaster

and even more unreasonable to have actually considered doing so (especially as we are a bit boracic just now).

I mean, is it REALLY going to make better toast than the £19.99 jobby from argos, or do i just want it to look pretty (very 50's retro) But seriously, does it make a difference? I remember my mother giving us quite an expensive toaster ages ago and it made shite toast, although it wasnt £150.

We have been making toast on the grill for years now because of the shite toaster but now i want a toaster and cant decide on £9.99 or saving up for an all singing all dancing toaster in primrose yellow and shiny chrome.

not at all - if it makes u happy and is aesthetically pleasing -well done

currantbunmum · 30/06/2007 22:09

We love our dualit toater, 4 nice thick evenly toasted slices in no time, spend the money!

lucyellensmum · 30/06/2007 22:10

right, confession time, who else has spent daft amounts of money on stuff you dont actually need.(to be fair, i can get the bathroom thing cos its nice to have a lovely bathroom .

My confession, and this is quite bad, was a mercedes - and i cant even drive!!! but to be fair it is ancient and i used the excuse that we were trading in our gas guzzling 4x4 that we couldnt afford to run, well we coudlnt afford that either, but im a brat.

I'd love a Dualit but it's just that bit too much to spend on making toast.
I did spend £40 on one last year and within weeks the boys managed to melt an plastic pen all over the inside.
Ruined.

bookwormmum · 30/06/2007 22:14

I wanted to buy an Aga once as it was a lovely green colour - didn't realise that you need to virtually have your house rebuilt in order to accomodate it in the kitchen. I didn't even cook very much at the time but it was a nice shade of green . One day.

ScottishMummy · 30/06/2007 22:14

we are adults if u want to flex the cards for a designer item - up to u

alycat · 30/06/2007 22:14

I can't admit to all the amounts of cash I've spent on things that are totally unecessary (and my lamps are considered quite hideous by most people TBH, I just love them and they make me and DH happy, LOL). I'll link to them and you can all laugh at my peculiar taste....hang on whilst I google

Gingermonkey · 30/06/2007 22:18

here you go

ScottishMummy · 30/06/2007 22:18

i of course am referring to the designer toilet roll holder

UCM · 30/06/2007 22:18

Oooooooooooooooooooo, toilet brushes.

Well theres a story to that, I bought a posh one once but after a few weeks the actual brush wasn't right, so now I stock up on the 65p ones from ikea and change them all of the time. So now my bog is dirty but my brush aint.

Gingermonkey · 30/06/2007 22:19

that is a truly beautiful loo roll holder come bog brush. I would steal it if I ever came to your house.

lucyellensmum · 30/06/2007 22:19

aly have you considered cognitive behavioral therapy for your hearing sunglasses talking issues?

i have two hugely expensive peices of jewlery (well expensive by my standards) which tbh we are probably still paying for as DP put them on the visa, they were presents so im not guilty, although i did tell him i wanted Carats for my birthday! This is indulgent but i justify that by saying that my girls will get them when im gone.

We've now got one of these.
It does toast but also crumpets, filled toasties, paninis, bagels etc.

ScottishMummy · 30/06/2007 22:21

nice

lucyellensmum · 30/06/2007 22:23

madame, dont you feel slightly sick that the alternative offered on the link you included was £18, i mean, thats like, almost enough for a toaster!!!

OP posts:
UCM · 30/06/2007 22:23

Thats the one!!!!, but one bit of shit in the roots of the bristles will have you all wondering if they sell replacement brushes!
