to think that £150 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a toaster

and even more unreasonable to have actually considered doing so (especially as we are a bit boracic just now).

I mean, is it REALLY going to make better toast than the £19.99 jobby from argos, or do i just want it to look pretty (very 50's retro) But seriously, does it make a difference? I remember my mother giving us quite an expensive toaster ages ago and it made shite toast, although it wasnt £150.

We have been making toast on the grill for years now because of the shite toaster but now i want a toaster and cant decide on £9.99 or saving up for an all singing all dancing toaster in primrose yellow and shiny chrome.

But I wouldn't put a printer in there - I'd get a little dog......

AttilaTheMum - we have this for our computer. It's fab.

MintyDixCharrington · 01/07/2007 19:33

oh hula.
it is grotesque.
come on - go and look at it again. looks foul open, looks foul closed, and that veneer!

nearest skip beckons

MintyDixCharrington · 01/07/2007 19:34

oh sorry hula thought you meant you had the dog kennel!

yours at least is honest about its intentions - its a workstation not a bedside table cum home for fifi

Troutpout · 01/07/2007 19:36

We used to have a dualit...it was about 22 years old...and was given to us when we got together. When it finally went we were going to get another (it did do lovely toast i admit)...but then we looked at the prices..

..and brought one from Aldi for 6.99
Aldi one is a bit shite btw.

foxinsocks · 01/07/2007 19:36

lol she's run off sobbing at you slagging off her furniture

why would anyone want a 'laptop box'? surely the whole point of laptops is that you can cart them around without horrid bits of wood.

AttilaTheMum · 01/07/2007 20:06

Home for fifi

foxinsocks · 01/07/2007 20:12

is that your photo album atilla? wow, the views from your house are amazing!

you also have a serious coke and fosters habit .

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/07/2007 20:14

hi
i am new here although been reading for about a year!!!!
finally decided to appear
Just wanted to say i just purchased a 4 slot dualit toaster and kettle.Just spent obscene amount on new kitchen so thought whats a bit extra.Dh going on about it making the bread too! Although they do look good cant stop thinking about what else could have spent my last bit of maternity pay on.

AttilaTheMum · 01/07/2007 20:22

Sadly the amazing views (30 miles to the Brecon Beacons) are not mine - it's my MIL's house which she has just sold (the house with the white porch & the roses in the other picture)
And the coke & fosters was from DD's birthday party.....

MintyDixCharrington · 01/07/2007 20:24

hahahaha

but where is the pink satin cushion for Fifi's very sensitive little bottom?

foxinsocks · 01/07/2007 20:24

oh, I was just teasing .

That house is/was beautiful. Love the sheep picture!

AttilaTheMum · 01/07/2007 20:34

Sorry Minty, fifi ate the cushion.

AttilaTheMum · 01/07/2007 20:42

Yes, the house is lovely - DH grew up there & his Mum & Dad lived there for 47 years, so they'll really miss it. But it's a mile and a half from the village, 880 feet up a steep hill, and over 100 miles from us. It has no central heating, the water comes from a local spring and the drains go to a septic tank in the neighbour's field. Also the garden is enormous & MIL just can't cope since FIL died last autumn. She's buying a nice modern bugalow with a small garden near my SIL - we're now helping her to reduce her belongings to fit the new bungalow instead of a five bedroom house with three sheds & a garage.

foxinsocks · 01/07/2007 20:50

aww that must be hard for her.

Bet she'll love being closer to the family though.
