My dh was not up for it at all. I don't remember what item of news changed it for him before Christmas. He now returns from his bit of The Weekly Shop with extra bits "for the stash".

PootlesBobbleHat · 25/01/2019 22:14

Good man, Mr Bellini

SalrycLuxx · 25/01/2019 22:23

Our freezer is now officially full. It took me a while to rearrange it enough to shut it (and I even had to remove the gin!).

My DH also started off humouring me. He’s now fully on board and even makes sure anything used from the larder goes straight back on the list.

He also does an Amazing chickpea curry.

I'm just sorting through my cupboards and moving all the stuff with good dates to 'the stash' and I've found a chilli and garlic salt grinder which is useful to jazz up boring pasta dishes, and an angel delight mix.

Just thought I'd mention them as they are easy to store and may brighten your day after a few days of bland food!

HolySwearingCuss · 26/01/2019 12:49

I think once you've regularly stocked up and see how useful it is, you get used to it. We've always bulk-bought stuff when we can as we're lazy it's easier.

Petalflowers · 26/01/2019 17:13

Just came back from Asda. People are definitely stocking up. The paracetamol/ibuprofen shelf was empty, and the pasta sauce jars, rice, pasta etc shoves were depleted.

bellinisurge · 26/01/2019 17:18

@thebabysmellsofpooagain angel delight is fab. Says me from the 70s when I was a kid. My DD's eyes lit up when she saw it!

TheElementsSong · 26/01/2019 17:30

I've got dark chocolate marzipans and honey-roast peanuts as my morale-boosting stash.

bellinisurge · 26/01/2019 17:37

@TheElementsSong . OMFG I loooooovvvvve those.

cloudtree · 26/01/2019 17:57

picked up loads of posh gingerbread today from homesense. Dated the end of September. reduced to 20p a pack so I bought all 5 packs!

PestymcPestFace · 26/01/2019 18:33

Waiting for government to say first quarter sales up, therefore everyone is happy with Brexit.

Yes, and it will be as I predicted wayyyy up on this thread (or maybe its predecessor).

Food suppliers on Radio 4 now talking about the difficulties they will have including possible bankruptcy.

Did the BBC provide "balance" by getting on a Brexiteer who once grew cress as a child, to tell everyone that it's just Project Fear and food will be plentiful?

bellinisurge · 27/01/2019 12:55

@TheElementsSong GrinGrinGrinGrinConfused

@theElementssong they did have one old Tory talking about chlorine washed chickens and we would have a choice of what to buy - and if British farmers couldn't make it pay they should just pack up their business.

bluescreen · 27/01/2019 14:49

Yes, I heard that. Someone "from the Adam Smith Institute, skyping from his house in Portugal", would you believe.

TheElementsSong · 27/01/2019 14:55

"from the Adam Smith Institute, skyping from his house in Portugal"

And yet elsewhere, you'll see Leavers going on about how Remainers are all out of touch posh elites who don't care about the common people and are only upset because [some stuff about posh food and au pairs, probably].

glamorousgrandmother · 27/01/2019 15:34

It's amazing how someone can have such a cavalier attitude to British agriculture while insisting we don't need the EU.

Brexit's only for the little people don't you know old chap.

littlebillie · 27/01/2019 18:54

Just casually looked at chest freezers they are going out of stock...

Sweetpea55 · 27/01/2019 19:10

What sort of medicines would you stash away ,assuming your GP wouldn't issue anymore than a usual, regular prescription

wildchild554 · 27/01/2019 19:18

Sweetpea55 depends on your situation, my i have ibuprofen, paracetamol, olbas oil, savlon, dettol, plasters, some bandages (I am very accident prone :') ), extra knee supprot, tubigrip, vaseline. Just basically a well stocked first aid kit with extra paracetamol and ibuprofen and vitamins.

wildchild554 · 27/01/2019 19:19

@Sweetpea55

wildchild554 · 27/01/2019 19:19
