I would never name a child Mia = missing in action. Or Cameron, what if she marries a guy named Cameron and then she is called Cameron Cameron?
Or Claudia because it means “one who is lame“ in Latin.

My name still hasn’t been mentioned!

Mine neither. 😄

Braden, Xaden, Jaden, Kaden, et. al.
Braedyn, Zaydin, "magically" spelled versions of the same shit names. These kids are going to be trouble.
Charisse, Caresse, Destiny, Charisma, Angeleeeeeeeeena, Charleeeeze, etc - kids named after movie starts that are going to look more like dinosaurs.

sideorderofchips · 09/01/2019 23:23

Both my girls are hyphenated. One with rose and one with Mae. Both after family members

I’m a child of the 80s. So my name is hyphenated. With Jayne.

Every Louise I have ever known was an utter bitch. Also liked Hazel but a dreadful bully of the same name at school put paid to that one when I had my daughter

justilou1 · 10/01/2019 01:49

@wheeltrims - My grandmother was a Louise and fitted your description perfectly. Unfortunately, she was such a bloody dragon, every granddaughter was given Louise as a middle name. I loathe it.

BusterGonad · 10/01/2019 03:02

I'm not keen on the trend of old man names, Archie, Frank, Arthur etc I just think they are horrible. I mean imagine being a kid and your name is Frank? It doesn't even sound nice and is horrible to say!

tartantroosers · 10/01/2019 03:58

Clive
Keith
Piers
Miles
Nigel
Brian
Franchesca, Olivia, anything "A"- y at the end
Pauline
June

Brandon. Every single one I've met has been a little shit. I also know a Brandon-Lee, which is terrible and doesn't have very good connotations, given the actor died quite horribly.

There's a woman I know with an angelic-looking child called Diesel. Bloody awful.

Jemma. Someone who absolutely tried her hardest to destroy my life.

Harper. Ugly and overused.

Khaleesi.

BusterGonad · 10/01/2019 05:16

Urge...Diesel and Levi. I can only imagine the parents! (Yes, I'm judgmental).

MagicallyMalicious · 10/01/2019 06:52

Also loathe anything Jamie bloody Oliver named his kids! Such wet-sounding names.

12fromcold · 10/01/2019 07:54

Has Samantha been mentioned yet?

Hortonlovesahoo · 10/01/2019 08:06

@bustergonad: Levi is a Jewish name and has been around way before the jeans manufacturer!

Outherelivingmybestlife · 10/01/2019 08:10

Nice thread!

RoboticSealpup · 10/01/2019 08:19

I had a nightmare that I had a DS called Charlie. I was asking myself why the hell did I call him such a silly name? I really dislike all those 'classic names with a cutesy twist". Alfie is even worse and there will be thousands of them in every school soon!

BusterGonad · 10/01/2019 08:39

Horton thank you for enlightening me, all the parents of Levi's I've come across I expect are not aware of this fact either! 🤣

xJessica · 10/01/2019 08:45

Jayden, hayden, kayden etc
Tyler
Riley
Lennox
Coby
Surnames as first names

ScienceIsTruth · 10/01/2019 09:28

My name has been mentioned a couple of times towards the end of the thread. I've never really liked it either though. My parents didn't have a name for a girl ready when I was born, so it wasnt really thought out.

None of my dc names have been mentioned though, so that's pretty good.

Wineandpyjamas · 10/01/2019 09:57

Both my DDs names have been mentioned - DD1 said once, apparently it sounds ugly and DD2 a few times as overused! I’m not offended - I like them Grin

A few of mine would be:

Caroline
Cara (a bitch in school)
Chloe (her hanger on)
Keira
Jade
Ethel
Eliza
Thomas
Fergus
Lilith

No real reason for a lot of them, just don’t like them!

My best friend has a name that’s been mentioned a few times as never having met a nice one and she hates it as well - she’s also absolutely lovely Grin

slappinthebass · 10/01/2019 11:50

I've always thought Evelyn was an unbelievably ugly name. My mind was blown when it became really popular. I still haven't got my head around it.

Timmytoo · 10/01/2019 11:57

Gilbert
Penelope
Margaret
Martha
Fanny
Dorcas
