To wonder about a few things with the LGW drone attack

Before I get flamed (and not that anyone will resist flaming if they want to anyway). I know-

-It's not that easy
-Safety First
-People are doing their best

But I can't help wondering and idly speculating about why -

We apparently don't have any counter measures for this.
It can go on so long
We aren't seeing any News footage of the drone(s)

I am 100% NOT a conspiracy theorist but I am very curious about exactly what is going on.

Well we all know it's a new kind of attack, as it's the first time drones have been deployed to deliberately frustrate/close a major airport.

He wouldn't pin it on a perpetrator - pretty normal during an investigation. I wouldn't read too much into refusal to confirm at this stage (whether foreign govt, rganused crime, crime entrepreneur, anti-airport protest, lizard people, aliens etc)

Buteo · 21/12/2018 08:45

Lots of downplaying that it was an attack yesterday though - look st the first few pages of this thread, saying “attack” was being melodramatic and then the BBC removing the word “attack” from its early reporting.

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 09:11

Well, whoever it is, is chuckling away with their hairy hands.

TSSDNCOP · 21/12/2018 09:15

Yeah, but the whole thread can stand down now Kathy’s popped in to set us all straight.

nickiredcar · 21/12/2018 09:18

How on earth are you sure they will catch anyone?

It could have been set up months ago and all automated to have two of them flying around then coming back to charge by someone that is on the other side of the world now.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 21/12/2018 09:20

Haha TSSDNCOP This thread is full of 'experts'.

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 09:24

Well we have liftoff again at least. I wonder will the cancelled flights from yesterday take off late today? Saw a video of a little lad going on holiday and he was being interviewed with his Mum and he said 'but we can go next year'. If my little one was affected I'd be wanting blood. I hate seeing kids upset.

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 09:27

It's different for adults. We've a lifetime of dealing with shit. But little kids hearts break. And that's cruel. I guarantee it's a man behind all this. THICK BASTARD.

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 09:28

Probably can't get a woman to sleep with him the dopey cunt.

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 09:30

Sky saying they could look at life imprisonment for endangering passengers lives. Good.

nickiredcar · 21/12/2018 09:48

Why on earth must it be a man?

Because women are too thick to do something so complicated and technical?

hmmhohmmm · 21/12/2018 09:52

Because women are too thick to do something so complicated and technical?

No. Because female socialisation makes it unlikely that a woman would purposefully ruin the Christmas holidays of lots of little children and put people travelling with medical conditions at risk as they can't access medication as easily as usual

BarbaraofSevillle · 21/12/2018 09:52

More like basic probability - about 95% of criminals are men, so the odds are that the drone flyer is a man. Not certain, but far more likely than not.

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 09:56

Because men seem more capable of criminal behaviour than women. They're pathetic creatures. Women this time of year are trying to make a nice Christmas. The last thing on the mind of any woman I know would be 'how could I fuck up Christmas for as many people as I can'.
I'll eat humble pie if a woman is involved. Women could mastermind the overtaking of the world, they just don't appear to be that way inclined.
Men however, hairy handed sad pricks particularly, are capable of all levels of mayhem.

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 09:58

It's hardly complicated and technical. It's flying a drone.

Puggles123 · 21/12/2018 10:01

It could be a woman or a man, not all men are criminals, just like not all women aren’t criminals Hmm. Either way, although it is sad people’s holidays and trips have been ruined, it would absolutely be more horrific if planes had been taking off and something had happened; when it comes to flying im all for being over cautious! The drone must have had the software altered or been completely bespoke, as an ‘off the shelf’ drone doesn’t allow you to fly over airports without written permission (that’s where it gets technical!) but similarly that’s what makes something like that harder to take down as whoever has been involved has knowledge of the systems and probably how to evade signal jams.

nickiredcar · 21/12/2018 10:04

Men are pathetic creatures? You have issues... Someone or a group of people managed to shut down our second main airport and outwit military and police, this wasn't just a drone from maplin (if they still existed) flown by a kid for a joke

Environmentalists are closer to 50 50 split though?

MattFreisCheekyDimples · 21/12/2018 10:11

Women this time of year are trying to make a nice Christmas. Hmm

LapinR0se · 21/12/2018 10:13

It is quite complicated and technical because drones are coded not to fly into protected airspace such as runways. So someone had the ability to hack into that protective software and override it

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/12/2018 10:21

For pities sake people!

Ifailed · 21/12/2018 10:22

LapinR0se there are several open-source auto-pilot code sets out there, it wouldn't take too much effort for someone to disable parts of the functionality.

nickiredcar · 21/12/2018 10:49

Disabling the flying restrictions code is only part of complicated things needed to do to close our second airport. The men or women behind this probably involved a lot of planning

hmmhohmmm · 21/12/2018 10:51

Of course NAMALT and of course it's possible that a woman is behind this

But over the anniversary of Lockerbie and knowing it will upset and ruin many xmases I find it less likely that a female environmentalist would do this than male one

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 11:08

Lol, are we really going to bring NAMALT into this. Of course it was a man!

Punto1 · 21/12/2018 11:09

Women have exactly the same capabilities as men have. They lack the malicious streak though.
