To ask for your weird names for periods

So I'm very boring and usually just go for "that time of the month" but I've read some cracking names for periods on threads and I want to know your favourites. AIBU to ask you for the weird and wonderful things you call it?

Hmm
JollyGiraffe · 13/12/2018 23:47

Is this a fetish thread?

busybarbara · 13/12/2018 23:47

Aunt Irma has come to stay.

Threadkillerextroadinaire · 13/12/2018 23:49

No. Not at all. I'm just expecting mine and was bored and thought hmmm. I wonder what interesting things Mumsnet can come up with. They're a funny bunch. No offence intended. (Scurries back into being a lurker)

Shark week
Got the painters in
The witch

Bettyjojojo · 13/12/2018 23:55

My mother used to call them “your doings” 😂

DonaldDucksTowel · 13/12/2018 23:56

Someone I know used to say she was ‘up the fudd’ which took me a while to figure out

I know someone who says she has a ‘jammy fanny’ which is vile 🤢

DP calls it psycho week Grin

I like the classic ‘surfing the crimson wave’

13thWarriorWitch · 13/12/2018 23:59

Aunt Flo is visiting
Redcoats on the march
Shark week (DD)
On the rag
The Curse

Threadkillerextroadinaire · 13/12/2018 23:59

On the blob makes me cringe.
Know someone who called it "lucifers waterfall" which is definitely odd!

jessstan2 · 14/12/2018 00:01

Interesting. I've never had a 'pet name' for periods, just called them "periods". Boring I know. I've heard others refer to 'coming on' or 'the curse'. Horrible names I've heard are 'on the blob' or 'on the rag'.

I like, "Got the decorators in". Hee hee, that's the sort of name I could use in front of my mum in law and, bless, she wouldn't know what I meant. That's not fair though is it :-), I'm being mean.

JellySlice · 14/12/2018 00:03

It's a sale (Everything Must Go).

bridgetreilly · 14/12/2018 00:03

I basically think that all the euphemisms for periods are horrible and make it sound much worse than just saying you have your period. It's been such a relief to realise I can just say that instead of having to come up with some other expression.

Threadkillerextroadinaire · 14/12/2018 00:04

@jessstan2 she must think you spend a lot of money fixing up your house! Which room are you doing this month?

My mum says she's on her 'rag'. She also calls sanitary towels 'jam rags'. I find that gross Envy

BoebePhuffay · 14/12/2018 00:34

I’m another that hates all the euphemisms for having a period. They’re cringey and make me wince when I hear them. It’s just a period. Say period.

KatieKittens · 14/12/2018 00:37

The red terror.

Enough said.

hawleybits · 14/12/2018 00:38

Love 'your doings' my mum always referred to 'your do dahs'

Thetigerwhocameto · 14/12/2018 00:38

Always shark week, period pains are known as the sharks attacking my uterus.

One of my tuttees calls it jam week 🧐

mystifiedinbrighton · 14/12/2018 00:40

I’m currently flying the Japanese flag

BrylcreamBeret · 14/12/2018 00:41

My pal used to say the Commies had invaded.

SisterMortificado · 14/12/2018 00:42

"Perfecting my secondary super power"

From a conversation involving the sentence 'I don't need to wonder- my primary superpower is growing people inside me, and my secondary is bleeding for a week without dying.'

MondayImInLove · 14/12/2018 00:54

A fax message.
I am waiting for a fax today / the fax has arrived etc

LEMtheoriginal · 14/12/2018 01:01

Mystified Shock

My Dp used to say "on the blob" Hmm

I remember at school we used to refer to it as being "on"

Never really heard any of the euphemisms until mnet.
