To give up watching 'The Good Life' on Netflix

I'm 5 episodes in to season 2. It's just not funny and a bit boring. I feel like I've watched so much though I need to keep going! Do you just give up on programme if you aren't enjoying them or carry on in case it gets better? Does anyone actually like it?

Do you mean The Good Place? If so, ywnbu to stop watching, the first series was good and interesting, I feel they lost their way with it after that

HeathRobinson · 09/12/2018 21:28

I finished watching after Season 1. Great show, but that was enough.

tinyme77 · 09/12/2018 21:29

The one about keeping pigs and chickens. Classic! Keep going. :)

steff13 · 09/12/2018 21:29

The Good Place is fantastic.

A quick Google indicates there's a British show called The Good Life, but it's from 1975.

Velvetbee · 09/12/2018 21:31

Thought you were dissing Tom and Barbara!

Yes, but it isn't on Netflix...

Rarfy · 09/12/2018 21:32

I didn't even make it through the first episode.

Nicpem1982 · 09/12/2018 21:33

We stopped mid season 2 as we lost interest

cloudtree · 09/12/2018 21:34

How can you give up on Margot?!

KittensAndChristmasCake · 09/12/2018 21:34

Thought you were dissing Tom and Barbara!
🤣

5foot5 · 09/12/2018 21:34

If you mean The Good Life with Felicity Kendal, Penelope Keith etc then YWBVU to give up. There were only ever about three series and a couple of specials I think. I have them all on DVD. Classic!

If you mean The Good Place I have no idea I have never heard of it

GBPworries · 09/12/2018 21:35

I didn't even make it through the first episode Same here, I just couldn't be arsed after about 20 minutes in.

VioletCharlotte · 09/12/2018 21:35

Another one who thought you meant Tom and Barbara! Grin I used to love the Good Life. They don't make any decent sitcoms nowadays (god, I'm old).

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/12/2018 21:35

The Good Life - can't watch the insufferable Tom.

The Good Place - joyous television, I just wish the episodes were longer.

Musseswoofles · 09/12/2018 21:36

Yabvu.

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 09/12/2018 21:36

I got five seasons in to Once Upon a Time and then couldn't watch the sixth. I kind of felt like you, OP, that having got to know and like the characters, I should persist, but the story just went weird.

GotThatWhatWhat · 09/12/2018 21:36

I think The Good Place is one of the most innovative programmes produced in this 'golden age of television'.

Its accompanying podcast is a delight.

But why would you need permission to stop if you've already watched over a full season and still don't like it?

Is it a sunk-cost fallacy thing?

rallytog1 · 09/12/2018 21:36

We're just watching it for Janet.

ShatnersBassoon · 09/12/2018 21:37

If it's The Good Place, I stopped watching after 4 episodes of series 1 - so repetitive and barely any laughs.

The Good Life is worth sticking with though!

elQuintoConyo · 09/12/2018 21:37

Where's the MN poster MargotLovedTom when you need her?

The Good Life is fantastic! The Christmas episode is peerless - Christmas comes to Margot's house in a Harrods van, except one year...

And "that's the last time i play the tart for you, Jerry!"

Tom and Barbara! I think I'd rather watch that to be honest.

It's been a long day....

I know what you mean.
I loved the first few series.
But now it seems to be wobbling along without focus.

Lwmommy · 09/12/2018 21:39

The Good Place I gave up on before the end of season 1.

I miss the Good Life though, used to watch reruns on Gold before we got rid of Sky. Poor beleaguered Jerry dealing with Margots etiquette concers, while Barbara and Tom fill the back yard with livestock and veg.

masterandmargarita · 09/12/2018 21:40

I thought the good place was awful despite ted danson being in it

AnneLovesGilbert · 09/12/2018 21:40

I love all his other shows but found The Good Place boring and hard to connect with.

DH loves it and I’ve dipped in and out but it’s still not floating my boat.

Shame.
