To give up watching 'The Good Life' on Netflix

I'm 5 episodes in to season 2. It's just not funny and a bit boring. I feel like I've watched so much though I need to keep going! Do you just give up on programme if you aren't enjoying them or carry on in case it gets better? Does anyone actually like it?

I know nothing of The Good Place, but, if you aren't enjoying something, I don't understand why you would have any worries about not watching anymore of it Confused

Some things - that are 'okay' or 'seem to have potential' I do watch a bit more of to see how they go, and other things of course I love and other things I have given up on after one episode - or, indeed, after about 15mins if it just isn't for me.

Yes, but it isn't on Netflix...

I don't know every single show that's on Netflix...

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 09/12/2018 23:36

GotThatWhatWhat oh no!! I'm actually gutted, that show is great.

I'm starting to think my type of humour is not suited for the mass market, most shows I love get cancelled! It's a conspiracy I tell you!

TigerDragonMonkey · 09/12/2018 23:39

I LOVE the Good Place! It is one of the only shows I look forward too!
But, it is quirky, and if it’s not your cup of tea of course YANBU to stop watching! Life is short enough without wasting precious time watching something you’re not enjoying :).

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 09/12/2018 23:42

I thought you were calling myself and other posters out for not Googling The Good Life and suggesting OP was talking about a different show with the below comment:

A quick Google indicates there's a British show called The Good Life, but it's from 1975

When in fact I Googled 'The Good Life Netflix' before I commented on this thread and saw it wasn't on Netflix.

If I read that wrong, I'm sorry.

Brainfogmcfogface · 09/12/2018 23:50

Are you forking serious?! It’s a great show! Although I will admit I had to really commit to get through the first half of season 1, but from then on out I think it’s wonderrful. Hate that it’s had a “mid season finale” and have to wait for the rest of season 3 in Jan. But shirt, I’m sure it’s be worth the wait.

VerbeenaBeeks · 09/12/2018 23:57

Never heard of the Good Place. Good Life though? You would be VU as that was classic 70s (80s?) telly!

StrawberrySquash · 10/12/2018 00:04

The Good Life is available on YouTube. It's great. As is the Good Place.

OccasionallyIncomplet · 10/12/2018 00:23

The Good Place is great - fabulous acting, witty dialogue and great story.

LimitIsUp · 10/12/2018 10:37

I think the same 'off the boil' scenario has afflicted the third series of Schitts Creek and the current series of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, both of which were also better in the first two series

MadameJosephine · 10/12/2018 10:44

I’m off work poorly and just binge watched all of the Good Place after seeing it recommended on another great. It’s now my guilty pleasure. I’m annoyed now that I’m up to speed and have to wait for more episodes to be released!

However, if it doesn’t float your boat then there’s plenty more great stuff out there to watch. Someone on here also recommended Jane the virgin and I thought that was a load of forking shirt!

ViragoKnows · 10/12/2018 10:46

The Good Life - can't watch the insufferable Tom.

ShockShockShock

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 10/12/2018 10:52

Love The Good Place. So much I'm pretending I've not watched it and watching again with my DH Grin

onemouseplace · 10/12/2018 11:01

This thread has amused me a lot.

Whenever I do my Christmas online food order I always think of Margo and wonder what I would do if Christmas wasn't delivered.

ViragoKnows · 10/12/2018 11:04

You’d come down with political chicken pox Smile

FeatherStrong · 10/12/2018 11:39

Completely agree.
Binge watched season 1.
Season 2...blahhhh
Stopped around same place you did :/

Unicornandbows · 10/12/2018 11:44

I liked the first season but then just got bored the novelty wore off for me

starlight45 · 10/12/2018 12:26

My problem with The Good Place is I really dislike the main character. She is just an arsehole. I can't watch a programme if I dislike the main character.

starlight45 · 10/12/2018 12:30

I love the episode where Margo has to clean and Jerry bleeds in the sink then uses the bin. Margo is brilliant. It was meant to be about Tom and Barbara but really it's about Jerry and Margo.

Lana1234 · 10/12/2018 12:40

I loved the first season! I even watched it again with DP I loved it that much. But I am about half way through season two and just not feeling it. It just feels lost to me 🤷‍♀️

derxa · 10/12/2018 12:56

Thank you very much Jerry

Talith · 10/12/2018 13:17

Oops sorry for the inadvertent spoiler! My intended point was that the pilot was brilliant but it went off fairly quickly for me across the first episode and I didn't bother with the second series.

I find that's often the case with Netflix - they spend a lot of time creating the perfect first episode then have to bang out the rest of the series and there's never as much care taken. It's like Lost where they ended up just concocting any old nonsense just to fill up time season after season! Never yet found a series that keeps up the momentum over many seasons. Maybe I just have a short attention span!!!

Oh but I ADORE the Good Life. Margot is perfection.

KeepCalm · 10/12/2018 13:58

DH and one of my friends love it. I'm a tad more Hmm about the whole thing. Might stick out one more season to pretend I tried lol

Raffles1981 · 10/12/2018 14:38

We're just watching it for Janet.

Same. It's lost its way definitely. And leaving the actual Good Place and going back to earth just lost me.
