To give up watching 'The Good Life' on Netflix

I'm 5 episodes in to season 2. It's just not funny and a bit boring. I feel like I've watched so much though I need to keep going! Do you just give up on programme if you aren't enjoying them or carry on in case it gets better? Does anyone actually like it?

I wish The Good Life was on Netflix

Deadringer · 09/12/2018 22:34

I loved season one, enjoyed season two, but find season three a bit meh.

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 09/12/2018 22:39

I love The Good Place, really love it.

But if you don't like it after a whole season, obviously stop watching it. Why would that be unreasonable? I don't understand your dilemma.

m0therofdragons · 09/12/2018 22:39

It's quite a quirky show but we love it, especially Janet. The latest series has been a grower but lots of Janets won me back over. I'm mean, what the fork dude?!?

NameChanger22 · 09/12/2018 22:42

The Good Place - I absolutely love it, I love the dialogue, the characters and the absurdity of it. It's not hilarious but it's still my favourite show. I especially love Janet.

I also like Great News on Netflix - very, very funny in parts.

The Good Life - it's ok. Not at all funny.

EdWinchester · 09/12/2018 22:48

We watched the first 2 seasons and liked it. We gave up after 2 episodes of season 3. Boring.

Notevenmyrealname · 09/12/2018 22:55

Love The Good Life - will always watch old episodes. I especially love Jerry wafting his Chinese takeaway around the living room. 😁

I think The Good Place is brilliant. Just watched the latest episode last night and it made me laugh all the way through - even had a cameo from Stephen Merchant which was forking hilarious. However, if you’re not hooked midway through s2, it’s clearly not for you. They’ve got quite a few old classic British sit-coms on Netflix though so you should be able to find something else.

TheGhostsOfPresidentsYetToCome · 09/12/2018 23:00

Ah no way! Thank you. I’ll watch the latest one this week when I make it to the gym. I actually meant I’d watched series 1-3 in a month but I didn’t know it was only half a series 3 Smile

WhoWants2Know · 09/12/2018 23:02

I love it. Reminds me a bit of Sophie's World.

yellowtipped · 09/12/2018 23:03

Holy forking shirtballs! To Janet's void with you. Grin

Meangirls36 · 09/12/2018 23:04

Try Frankie and grace. The godless was the best western I've seen in a while. Outer limits is great sci fi cartoon hi jinks without all the rick and Morty profanity. F is family is hilarious but ruder than bottom ( the TV series) cathedral in the sea is the latest historical drama but it was a bit grim for me. God I watch a lot of TV.

riviana · 09/12/2018 23:05

@GotThatWhatWhat: Please, tell me where to find the podcasts for "The Good Place." I absolutely love it. I find it smart, charming and funny, with fallible, believable and consistent characters. I find it a good match for its producers other show "Brooklyn Nine-nine."

"The Good Life" on the other hand,I always found a bit ho-hum. Felicity Kendal was so perky. Yuck. The rest of the cast was better in other things, I always thought.

Meangirls36 · 09/12/2018 23:06

Not the outer limits thats something else entirely its called final space. Very funny.

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 09/12/2018 23:08

I’m Bored of it now

Rockbird · 09/12/2018 23:09

Never seen the Good Place.

Love the Good Life although we're all supposed to love Tom and Barbara and I couldnt stand either of them, especially Richard Briars who I would have brained with his shovel very very early on. That bloody whistling. Xmas Angry

LimitIsUp · 09/12/2018 23:10

I get what you mean. Loved series one, enjoyed series two but series three feels like work

mirialis · 09/12/2018 23:11

The gcse level moral philosophy lessons are just too tiresome - it’s not funny enough to carry that.

GotThatWhatWhat · 09/12/2018 23:13

TheGhostsOfPresidentsYetToCome Ah! That explains a lot. But I can totally see why you thought Don't Let The Good life Pass You By was a finale ep - the show really is that good!

My pleasure riviana - it really is a joy

FWIW - I think Margot is one of the greatest and most nuanced TV characters ever created. Tom was a dick though.

I love this show! Really hope it gets picked up for a third season!

GotThatWhatWhat · 09/12/2018 23:19

DayManChampionOfTheSun Agreed but I have some sad news for you...

nicslackey · 09/12/2018 23:19

Yabvu to get my hopes up that The Good Life is on Netflix. Sad now

DrawingLife · 09/12/2018 23:20

Current series is uneven, the first was great, second good imo. It's a great premise but yes, it's stretched now and they're plainly looking for ways to make it last. It's still my go-to mindless viewing, though I'm not breathlessly waiting for the next ep. At least I know and like the characters. Netflix has so much stuff that all looks so similar and with so little quality control that I find it hard to know what to get invested in.

MyNameIsJane · 09/12/2018 23:25

I haven’t RTFT but there’s a podcast??

GreenDinosaur · 09/12/2018 23:27

I agree with PP's The Good Life was brilliant!

The Good Place... not so much.
I stuck out the first series but gave up very soon into series 2. It's trying very hard and aside from Janet, all the characters are so annoying, it's hard to give a toss what happens to any of them.

riviana · 09/12/2018 23:29

@GotThatWhatWhat: Thanks for that. I'll look forward to that.

I'm Australian and I thought the episodes set in Australia were so well done - so many cliches, deliberately appalling bad accents, no effort to mimic Sydney's buildings and even a mock Hemsworth thrown in for good measure. A very satisfactory satire of how many Americans perceive Australia.

And probably aimed a a very small percentage of viewers who would actually appreciate it fully.
