Tell me about your annoying colleagues

I work in a very small team and the woman who sits opposite me drives me completely insane! It’s going to sound very minor, but she interrupts me constantly to talk about her boyfriend. I’ve had to start putting my earphones in and pretending I’m listening to music and can’t hear her because she makes it so hard for me to concentrate on work, but as soon as I take them out she wheels her chair over to my desk to tell me something else inane about him Hmm

I don’t know how much more I can hear about what tv show they watched last night, what she cooked him for dinner, what she’s bought him for Christmas, how to interpret every last thing he says to her...it just never ends!

AIBU to ask you to make me feel better by telling me about your annoying colleagues??

Copies a lot of line managers style which she finds flattering. He's a snide little thing but I know she'll promote him as a result.

Fstar · 06/12/2018 21:27

Urgh woman behind me has the most annoying accent (local but a lot different to the area we work) and talks a load of shit all day long. I have to wear my earphones as she is so bloody loud and annoying i cant concentrate. She seems nice but so flipping annoying

ForAMinuteThere · 06/12/2018 21:30

I used to work in open plan with over 100 people. Absolutely nightmare, most people were annoying (as I probably was to them).

All hail a tiny team of non annoying ones, the odd thing annoys me but it's like heaven compared to the old days.

codenameduchess · 06/12/2018 21:32

one sneezes louder than is reasonable and ends with a foot stamp that makes my desk shake. They're 20 feet away from me!

Another sings all the time while wandering around. All day.

Screamqueenz · 06/12/2018 21:34

The ones that think you have to be best friends with colleagues or sworn enemies.
The ones who don't appear to have matured past 13.
The ones who create cliques and leave others feeling felt out and insecure.

Basically all the same small group who take up 80% of my companies HR time.

halfwitpicker · 06/12/2018 21:35

Lots of annoying colleagues, but one of the main problems is that there's loads of hot blokes so I have trouble concentrating Blush

FrustratedBeyond · 06/12/2018 21:37

@MaMaMaMySharona do we have the same colleague??? Grin

Sowhatifidosnore · 06/12/2018 21:39

Got a big mouth in the team near us ( open plan offices) who yaps on night and day about her husband ( he’s an idiot apparently) and her kid ( #blessed #little princess) her latest tattoo and anything else that pops in her mind. She’s got a proper whatevs accent and attitude and is foul mouth so it’s constant swearing. I don’t know how they stand her, her team are all quite young so I think she just overwhelms them.

PuppyMonkey · 06/12/2018 21:41

I used to sit next to someone who SHOUTED REALLY LOUDLY ON THE PHONE. Sad

My poor nerves were shot by the end of the day, I tell you.

pilates · 06/12/2018 21:43

Lazy work colleague leaving me work she cba to do 😡

MaMaMaMySharona · 06/12/2018 21:43

About once a week one of the sales guys comes into the office. His desk is behind me but around a wall so I can’t see him, but I can hear him whistling parts of a tune and then tapping the rest on his desk Angry Angry

I’m sure people find me annoying too, but my god. Driving me crazy!

My colleague talks really loudly on the phone as well!!

Xmasfairy86 · 06/12/2018 21:44

The 19 year old that says basically 3083719 times a day

The one who doesn’t drink enough water so has permanent morning ming breath

And the office gossip/moaner. Permanently negative. Heart of gold but far too nosey for her own good

RandomMess · 06/12/2018 21:48

One that is a bigot, an opinion that is right on everything and sometimes says very nasty things about DC in such vitriolic tones.

I am beginning to find them offensive tbh SadAngry

Disquieted1 · 06/12/2018 21:54

The petty moaner. Complaints made about me (anonymously to my boss) in the last month include:
Forgetting to wipe the whiteboard after writing on it
Having the ringer on my phone too loud
Not using a coaster - on my own desk

You're not paranoid if someone's really out to get you.

Violetroselily · 06/12/2018 21:58

Woman on my team who I utterly despise - every morning she comes in and does approx 8 squirts of perfume at her desk. Sitting next to her was awful.

She is deliberately obtuse - won't answer a simple question and can't do anything without being given step by step instructions.

Thank fuck she's starting a new job soon.

Hoopaloop · 06/12/2018 21:58

Worked in an office with a man who ate apples once 🤪

Sowhatifidosnore · 06/12/2018 21:58

Or the colleague who said he spoke 8 languages fluently but when he demonstrated this it was basically the pigeon version of the language in an accent so strong it was borderline racist - think old white guy ‘talking’ Jamaican. Yeah, man.

Sowhatifidosnore · 06/12/2018 22:00

Ooh, or the colleague who used to shave at his desk before HR found out and told him it wasn’t hygienic...

Canibuildasnowman · 06/12/2018 22:04

There’s a guy who cycles in - middle aged, full Lycra including the shorts. Quite often comes to a morning meeting in the shorts if he doesn’t have time to change. They don’t leave much to the imagination.

nomorearsingmermaids · 06/12/2018 22:06

Oh lord. One of them in particular is completely technologically incompetent and it drives me round the twist.

She is mistrustful of anything techy and refuses to keep an electronic diary, so often misses things because she hasn't updated her paper diary. She never replies to emails because she can't check them quickly enough.

She asked me the other week if her out of office reply would still send if her computer was switched off Confused

I spend a lot of time banging my head on my desk.

MaMaMaMySharona · 06/12/2018 22:09

Pretty much all of these sound worse than my colleague 😂

MaisyPops · 06/12/2018 22:10

The ones who sit in the staff room talking about dull shit like the drama around which school mum was picking someone up from football or whether their great aunty really did find truth in a tarrot reading they got 17 years ago. Shut up. Some of us are trying to mark our books.

Jynxed · 06/12/2018 22:22

Oh wonderful, a chance to vent my spleen! The hugely over weight diabetic who will not stop eating! Tells me (repeatedly) how much weight he has lost, but he must eat regularly because of his diabetes. Too big to walk anywhere so I have to cover any of his work that requires him to actually move, let alone use stairs! Shifts pretty quick when the biscuits come out at the other side of the office though. Talks constantly at the top of his voice, the same bloody stories over again, even when I am obviously ignoring him, trying to keep up with my work and half of his. And worst of all keeps helping himself to my expensive coffee pods to go with the food he is nicking off other people. and when asked to stop and bring in his own, he buys the cheapest nastiest jar, but continues to filch mine! It gives me the rage beyond all rationality!

4yearsnosleep · 06/12/2018 22:27

I once worked 48 hour shifts with one partner. The first one was awful. I remember I made him a thanksgiving dinner in our little hut we were on call from and he took his boots and socks off (that he's been wearing for 24hrs) and put his feet up on the table next to his dinner plate. So so gross. He also chewed with his mouth full, shovelled food in and made sexist comments allllllllll day. He also completely panicked whenever he had to treat a patient and would flap around like a flaccid cock
