Why do celebrities never seem to get stretch marks?

This isn’t a criticism, as I know everyone is different and they look great.

But I watch the Mummy Dairies and Sam, Billie, Ferne etc. all look amazing in bikinis. There are no stretch marks whatsoever. Same with a lot of other Insta accounts/ celebs etc.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who’s stomach got completely ruined by pregnancy. I could exercise (and stop eating biscuits) to improve it but I have a lot of stretch marks that will never go away. I don’t think I could ever wear a bikini again.

Just a bit envious!

It's called air-brushing. If you saw them actually in the flesh - which they will never allow you to do - you'd see that they're exactly the same as anyone else.

YABU however for watching such drivel.

MrsCar · 06/12/2018 09:44

I've always wondered this too.

I'm a size 8-10 after 3 children, but my tummy is just loose, wrinkly skin and covered in stretch marks. They've faded over the years, but still noticeable.

I can't say they've ever bothered me, but I have always wondered that about celebs.

CryingMessFFS · 06/12/2018 09:45

Luck, genes, being very fit beforehand (strong stomach muscles = less likely to have a huge bump so less stretch on the skin) tummy tucks, many reasons really.

Birdsgottafly · 06/12/2018 09:46

Laser treatments can remove stretch marks.

But all the Women you mention use tanners, so they are covered by a spray.

As well as air brushing, as said.

How old is your Baby? Because they do fade.

I didn't get stretch marks with my three, neither did my DD with her two, so it'll be genetics, in our case.

SaucyJack · 06/12/2018 09:46

Mini tummy tucks on the bikini line.

LilySays · 06/12/2018 09:47

Inspector that’s true but you see a lot of celebs on tv/ Instagram videos which aren’t airbrushed.

"but my tummy is just loose, wrinkly skin and covered in stretch marks."

Lasers can tighten skin, as well, so can Fibroblasting.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 06/12/2018 09:48

Some do, some don’t. Same as non-celeb women. I got loads of stretches on my stomach. Mate got none.

Difference is, the celeb women who do get them (and who are often seen in bikinis/skimpy clothes), have cosmetic and surgical treatments to minimise or eradicate their appearance. As well as photoshopping still images to the absolute max, obvs.

LilySays · 06/12/2018 09:48

Birds baby is 5 months. My Mum has a lot of marks too so that would make sense.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 06/12/2018 09:49

It's air brushing

LilySays · 06/12/2018 09:49

I would look at getting it lasered..they really bother me. I hate wearing fake tan, though.

A lot of them have gruelling schedules with personal trainers even when heavily pregnant which will probably help to keep them toned. Sam and Billie just have good genes too as their mum’s body looks like a fit 20 year olds.
Im Sure there are celebrities like Josie Gibson or Giovanna Fletcher who have given birth and aren’t looking as unreltable as people like Sam and Billie.

Happyandshiney · 06/12/2018 09:51

It might just be lucky genes.

I had twins, I was huge and I don’t have any stretch marks.

My friend had a tiny bump and her tummy looks like someone has taken a marker to it.

Not everyone gets stretch marks.

VioletCreams · 06/12/2018 09:51

I think it’s just down to luck and baby size. I didn’t get that big during my pregnancy and as a result I never got any stretch marks, I’m also not a celebrity 😄 A student doctor examined me while pregnant and looked shocked, I wondered what was up and he said “you have no stretch marks!” So I guess it is uncommon 😂😂. I did however manage to end up with gestational diabetes so I had to watch what I ate which probably meant that’s why I didn’t put on much weight other than baby. I still have a pouch from my c-section though so I won’t be wearing a bikini anytime soon that’s for sure 😃

farfallarocks · 06/12/2018 09:51

It’s genes mostly. I had a huge bump both times and no stretch marks at all. In fact none of my friends have any. I did use bio oil but no one in my family got them so suspect it’s mediterraneon skin!!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 06/12/2018 09:53

Agree with other posters - time and money to do what's required to hide/minimise appearance. Age is a factor too. I'm 43 and always marvelled at my lack of cellulite (I exercise and eat fairly well but still). Until two years ago when overnight my arse cheeks resembled the texture of cottage cheese Shock.

I have to say though until recently Chrissy Teigen was never particularly on my radar but I now slightly love her for being so open an public about what pregnancy does to a body!

OutragedERIC · 06/12/2018 09:53

It’s just luck of the draw. I didn’t get a single stretch mark from three pregnancies, but I could you write you a list of other so called ‘imperfections’ that I’m racking up as the years go by.

And really, you’re seeing the ones without stretchmarks because they feel confident about wearing bikinis. We don’t see the stretchmarked bellies because the people who have those tend to keep covered.

Youmadorwhat · 06/12/2018 09:53

I think it’s genetics etc I’ve had two babies and no stretch marks

cloudtree · 06/12/2018 09:53

I don't think it is airbrushing, they're just lucky. Certain skin types won't get stretch marks.

I have two DC (now teens) and so do each of my sisters. None of us have any stretch marks. We all have olive/mediterranean coloured fairly oily skin

LilySays · 06/12/2018 09:54

Farfalla I used so much baby oil, and body butter. Made no difference!

I also have a belly button piercing (from when I was about 16) which caused more stretch marks in a horrible branch type pattern.

I don't have a single stretch mark. Two pregnancies with biggish babies. My 17yo dd is a size 8 and has loads of stretch marks on her thighs and (tiny) bum. She loves her "tiger stripes" as she calls them.

PetiteMamaNoel · 06/12/2018 09:57

What's wrong with stretch marks? Even men have them. You're human. Give yourself a break.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 06/12/2018 09:58

It’s all down to genes, TBH.

I suppose they are just lucky.

LilySays · 06/12/2018 09:59

I wish I could embrace the ‘tiger stripes’ Sad but I’d rather they weren’t there, to be honest.
