Sorry to harp on about the former Canadian PM at President Bush's funeral, but could someone explain to me, from this, the meaning of a "sub-tweet"?

Here's the Mulroney section that seemed most like a subtweet of Trump.

It is the section I heard which I thought was most obviously directed at Trump, it's just I don't understand what "sub-tweet" means in the context?

Sub tweeting is when you tweet something that is clearly aimed at a specific person/event (usually calling them out, disagreeing with what they’ve said etc) but without naming the specific person/event in the tweet.

He's just ill-bred and egotistical. In this context, I mean - he is so much more (or less) in other contexts.

From where he's standing, he can't see anyone else he might take cues from.

I have seen him put his hand on his heart – I think belatedly – but I think it was when people facing him did. It doesn't come from within him, but from copying others. Whether that's because of memory problems or narcissism, who knows.
