The passage below is from this link: www.russiamatters.org/news/russia-review/russia-review-nov-30-dec-7-2018

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker has said that Russia needs to release the Ukrainian sailors taken captive by Christmas or before the new year, according to VOA. Volker said one measure of constraining Russia under consideration is cutting Russian banks from the international SWIFT banking network.

Now, this may not seem interesting in itself. The article above is dated Nov 30-Dec 7. I saw a tweet by a US commentator saying that Russia has sent letters to banks stating their SWIFT connection may be lost. This, taken with the above intel about military buildup at the Ukraine border, implies Russia may be about to take military action they are aware the majority of the world would not approve. (SWIFT is essentially the worldwide interconnected bank network.)

The Mysterious Return of Manafort’s ‘Russian Brain’
Mueller says that the former Trump campaign chairman repeatedly lied about his interactions with Konstantin Kilimnik, a man with ties to Russian intelligence.

Oleg Deripaska has been at heart of British establishment for more than a decade. He has close relationship with man Mueller describes as Russian "asset". He's bought a member of the house of lords. Who refuses to answer parliament's questions. But no, nothing to see...

And this from former CIA director John Brennan, whose security clearance Trump revoked (which has been denounced by 12 former CIA chiefs as an attempt to stifle free speech)

Whenever you send out such inane tweets, I take great solace in knowing that you realize how much trouble you are in & how impossible it will be for you to escape American justice. Mostly, I am relieved that you will never have the opportunity to run for public office again.

Thanks for that image, Roussette. Grin

Thing is, whilst anyone with half a brain acknowledges that Trump is a half-wit out only to line his own pockets, though some of the intelligent millionaires will continue to vote for him because it suits their business/financial purposes to be subject to reduced taxes, it is worrying how many of his "base" still feel he can do no wrong, and worse, still believe all Trump's lies about Obama, despite proof of the exact opposite. If you see what I mean.
I am so fed up with all this. Even just staying put in my echo-chamber, if you see what I mean?

Roussette · 10/12/2018 14:54

Oh yes I agree.

I do wonder if he really can be that stupid to make such a spelling mistake not once, but twice. Is he trying to divert?

MerdedeBrexit · 10/12/2018 15:05

Roussette, I think he's uneducated and ignorant, despite the expensive schooling his father bought him, and he isn't at all ashamed of that.

No, the criminal campaign-finance violations were found by professional line prosecutors in a Republican-controlled United States Department of Justice. It looks like a pretty good case. Kudos to them.

Russia hack 'bid to discredit' UK anti-disinformation campaign - Foreign Office
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46509956

The [Foreign Office] spokesperson said: "The Institute for Statecraft, an independent charity, was hacked several weeks ago and numerous documents were published and amplified by Kremlin news channels.

"The Russian state media campaign's objective is clear. This is yet another example of Russian disinformation intended to confuse audiences and discredit an organisation which is working independently to tackle the threat of disinformation."

They added: "The Institute for Statecraft is independent of government and is non-partisan. We fund them on that basis.

"Their retweeting of articles critical of both the government and opposition shows no systemic bias, though they have undertaken to review their editorial policy."

(Basically, Russian media have been trying to make a big deal out of the Institute retweeting some news articles critical of Labour, while ignoring the Institute retweeting of news articles critical of the Tories. Big ol' stirry stick.)

www.thedailybeast.com/washington-post-introduces-bottomless-pinocchio-factcheck-level-for-trump

'The Washington Post Fact Checker has introduced a new dishonesty rating custom-made for the Trump era: the “Bottomless Pinocchio.” The newspaper says the new tier will be issued to politicians who “repeat a false claim so many times that they are, in effect, engaging in campaigns of disinformation.” In order to be awarded the Bottomless Pinocchio, the claims must have received three or four Pinocchios from the Fact Checker, and must have been repeated 20 times. Fourteen statements made by Trump already qualify for the list—no other politician has yet been given the dubious honor. In an article announcing the introduction of the new level, the Post condemns Trump and says: “He is not merely making gaffes or misstating things, he is purposely injecting false information into the national conversation.” The most repeated falsehood so far, according to the Fact Checker, is Trump’s assertion that his tax cut was the biggest in history, followed by his exaggerations of the size of U.S. trade deficits.'
