To think my dd took ecstasy?

Basically, my (just) 16 year old dd went to a concert on Saturday night and stayed over at her friends after which was all fine. However, she came back on Sunday with swollen, chafed lips- she said that she got knocked in the face at the concert but something felt wrong about it. Today, I’ve been thinking about my experiences as a teenager and remembered how ecstasy would make your jaw ‘gurn’ and cause you to bite your lips. Now the only logical explanation I can see for dd’s lips is this but don’t know how to broach the subject as I have no proof whatsoever. Am i jumping to conclusions? How do I ask her without seeming as if I am jumping to conclusions?

That's a big jump to make?

todayisnotthedayy · 12/11/2018 22:18

So she has chafed lips and you jump to ecstasy? HmmConfused

HollowTalk · 12/11/2018 22:19

I would have thought she was snogging someone. Has she got love bites?

Purpletigers · 12/11/2018 22:19

Ask her ? If you took drugs as a teenager it would be rather hypocritical to expect her not to do the same .

Harrykanesrightsock · 12/11/2018 22:19

Might have just been a mighty intense snogging session?

donajimena · 12/11/2018 22:19

Did she see The Prodigy or Jane McDonald?

lastqueenofscotland · 12/11/2018 22:19

I think that’s a massive jump
Ecstasy tends to make you clench your jaw rather than gurn like coke/regretamine
One of the bigger tell tale signs is feeling boiling and perpetually thirsty.

I imagine her story is more likely

MarthaArthur · 12/11/2018 22:20

Snogging and alcohol also does that as does licking your lips a lot if your singing at a concert all night. Thats a big leap to make based on no info.

ShatnersBassoon · 12/11/2018 22:21

It's more likely she'd been really snogging someone all night Smile

HarrietKettleWasHere · 12/11/2018 22:21

But her a chapstick, be less paranoid.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 12/11/2018 22:21

*buy!

EC22 · 12/11/2018 22:21

Did she have a comedown that would be more of a tell tale sign than chafed lips!

MrsStrowman · 12/11/2018 22:22

Ecstasy isn't really a drug for getting/lip chewing. I agree snogging is more likely, which is pretty harmless

Elizab3thh · 12/11/2018 22:22

Of course it is a jump- but the lips are not just changed but swollen in a way that reminds me of what mine looked like, I don’t know I guess it’s the way she said it seemed off to me but I probably am wrong and I really hope it was an intense snogging session and not her putting herself in danger

OP posts:
MrsStrowman · 12/11/2018 22:22

*gurning

TokyoSushi · 12/11/2018 22:22

Its possible I took it in my youth but snogging/drinking, something less 'extreme' is also very possible.

MrsStrowman · 12/11/2018 22:23

I used to get chafed swollen lips like that not much older than her when I had a stubbly boyfriend...

Elizab3thh · 12/11/2018 22:23

she was quite irritable yesterday but she always is after a sleepover as they don’t sleep so i can’t really notice a change

OP posts:
Elizab3thh · 12/11/2018 22:25

purpletigers of course it’s hypocritical! But now being older and realising that every time I took a pill I was risking my life I don’t want the same for my daughter

MrsJBaptiste · 12/11/2018 22:25

I took it a lot in my heyday but my lips were never as you describe your DD's. I'm sure there's another explanation...

TokyoSushi · 12/11/2018 22:26

Yes I think it's a stubbly boyfriend as they often are at that age!

SavageBeauty73 · 12/11/2018 22:27

I took loads in my younger years and my lips were never like that. Always are after a night of snogging someone with stubble 🤷‍♀️

bluejelly · 12/11/2018 22:30

Why don't you ask her?

agirlhasnonameX · 12/11/2018 22:30

My mum used to accuse me of being on something all the time when I was 100% sober. Then when I was on something she didn't have a clue.

bluejelly · 12/11/2018 22:30

Would be a good opportunity to have a sensible conversation about drugs.
