Democrats win the House, and he’s already fired Sessions: Trump thread 87

We start this new thread on a brighter note: the mid-terms were a win for the Democrats, securing the House of Representatives and further seats in the Senate. This means more scrutiny for POTUS and the GOP, and bargaining power.

He’s still a feckless, vain bully, oddly admired by some varieties of Christians - enjoy the cartoon by Mike Luckovich.

As you can see, somewhat different narrative.

Now, this is interesting. Ukraine has an election soon. Poroshenko himself is up for reelection. This could cause the election’s postponement. (Again, via RT.)

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that he will propose declaring martial law in the wake of the altercation in the Black Sea that saw Russian military seize Ukrainian vessels for breaching Russian territorial waters.
The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) has supported declaring martial law for 60 days. The motion will now go before the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, for final approval.

Trump Says He Will Close the Mexico Border Permanently If Needed

President Donald Trump said the U.S. will close its southern border with Mexico if needed, a day after U.S. agents shot several rounds of tear gas at migrants after some tried to breach a border fence.

“Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries,” Trump said Monday on Twitter. “Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be."

The Mexican peso fell as much as 0.3 percent after Trump’s tweet, weakening to as low as 20.4624 per dollar, one of only a handful of decliners in emerging markets Monday.

When Mueller does his final report, will he be covering all of his conflicts of interest in a preamble, will he be recommending action on all of the crimes of many kinds from those “on the other side”(whatever happened to Podesta?), and will he be putting in statements from.....
....hundreds of people closely involved with my campaign who never met, saw or spoke to a Russian during this period? So many campaign workers, people inside from the beginning, ask me why they have not been called (they want to be). There was NO Collusion & Mueller knows it!

Seth Abramson

I expected very little from this man as Mueller closed in, yet I must admit I did not foresee the defense that there was no collusion unless everybody colluded

AcrossthePond55 · 26/11/2018 15:41

So now he's trying to deflect by pointing fingers at everybody in his campaign saying they should all be questioned. Soon he'll be naming names and singing like a canary just like a naughty school boy pointing fingers at the rest of the class saying "They MADE me!!!". I assume we'll hear that next. He didn't want to collude, they forced him to! He was tricked into it!

NEW: Jerome Corsi says he knew Wikileaks had John Podesta's emails -- and that they would be released in October. But it was an educated guess, he said, not inside information.

In an interview on OANN this morning, Corsi also said he would refuse to accept a plea deal in which he admits to "willfully" lying to Mueller's team.

It's rather sweet, really. Like a six-year-old caught with his hand in the cookie-jar and desperately trying to distract the vengeful grown-ups.

(Well, it would be sweet if it were a six-year-old, not someone twelve times that age.)

AcrossthePond55 · 26/11/2018 20:30

I agree lion. Unfortunately, we're going to have to have a candidate that appeals to a very, very broad base. Pretty much a 'middle of the left side of the road' older white male (aged 50-60). Bernie is too old and too 'socialist' to fit that bill. Don't get me wrong, he'd make an excellent POTUS and do a great deal of good as would many other potential candidates, but the point of 2020 is to get Trump OUT at any cost, even if it means electing someone who doesn't fit all of our desires.

But here's the main thing I think needs to be followed. The candidates need to not polarize their own supporters to the point that they won't vote for any other candidate. They need to disagree with the spirit of future cooperation in mind. And they need to throw their support 1000% behind the nominated candidate as soon as the nomination is formalized. This is one of the things that lost Hillary the election. Bernie supporters flat out wouldn't vote for Hillary, no matter what. And Bernie didn't come out right away and ask his supporters to vote for her. He hinted at going independent instead. He dragged his feet and that gave his supporters time to turn to 3rd party candidates rather than give Hillary a chance to convince them she was right for the country. We just can't afford that in 2020.
