We start this new thread on a brighter note: the mid-terms were a win for the Democrats, securing the House of Representatives and further seats in the Senate. This means more scrutiny for POTUS and the GOP, and bargaining power.

He’s still a feckless, vain bully, oddly admired by some varieties of Christians - enjoy the cartoon by Mike Luckovich.

So will Six4three be held in contempt in the US for handing over the documents? I don't feel sorry for them if they are after reading about their revolting app!

It's an interesting one. Clearly FB are using the fact that it was a revolting app to their advantage in trying to shut down conversation about this and therefore I do admire Six4three for having the balls to not back down and slink away.

But the way that we obtained the documents was pretty clever. I do wonder if there were background talks with Kramer - you come to the UK for 'business' and we will pretend to play hardball with you, then you can get the documents that you want out there into the public arena while being able to cite being threatened with jail as being a compelling reason in having released them.

Ooh.

When it comes to the ins and outs of social media I am pretty much on the same level as those asking the questions in the US hearing.

CNN: A federal judge has denied former Trump adviser George Papadopoulos’ request to delay the start of his prison sentence. Papadopoulos must report to prison Monday to begin serving his 14 day sentence.

has received the documents it ordered from Six4Three relating to Facebook. I have reviewed them and the committee will discuss how we will proceed early next week. Under UK law & parliamentary privilege we can publish papers if we choose to as part of our inquiry

Well what an incredibly weak letter from Facebook's Richard Allan to Damian Collins ( Pain's image).

Allan can't seem to decide whether he's fighting Six4Three or fighting parliament.

There's no reason to believe the DCMS committee endorse a single action by Six4Three or support its court case. For DCMS, Six4Three are simply bagcarriers who happened to be in possession of Facebook documents relevant to DCMS's investigations.

Russia has confirmed its vessels have used weapons to stop Ukrainian vessels that had entered Russian waters in the Black Sea illegally. Three Ukrainian sailors were wounded and have been given medical assistance.
Russia has fired at a group of three Ukrainian vessels that entered its territorial waters near Crimea, the Russian Security Service (FSB) has confirmed. The ships were then seized and taken to the Crimean port of Kerch.

Three Ukrainian sailors, injured in the altercation, were given medical assistance by Russian servicemen. Their lives are out of danger.

Ukrainian Navy ships the ‘Berdiansk’, the ‘Nikopol’ and the ‘Yany Kapu’ with their crews have been detained for violating Russian territorial waters, the FSB said in a statement Sunday. They were ignoring "legal demands to stop" and "performing dangerous maneuvers," and the Russian warships had to open fire to force them to stop.

A criminal investigation has been launched into the suspected violation of the Russian state border.

The FSB is pointing out that Ukrainian authorities are aware of the procedure that regulates the passage of the military ships through Russian territorial waters.
