New neighbors stole our bin

Actually can't believe I'm writing this but I think it's pretty amusing plus I've recently lost the will with pretty much everyone and need to share this before I lose the plot totally. 😂😂😂

New neighbors next door moved in yesterday..... I haven't met them yet...... It was recycling day yesterday and we have two recycling bins clearly marked with our house number on the lid and side of each the bin...... Went on school run as they were still moving in....... Came back home to find they had pinched one of my bins off my drive and stuffed it to full with their packagin brown boxes etc

  1. why?
  2. really why?
  3. I'm really annoyed because I'm going to have to go over there at some point today and ask for my bin back that I have to pay extra for having an additional bin and get to look like a dickhead neighbor being petty about bins. Great start to a new neighbor relationship but I can't let them have it or get away with it can I??
  4. I really wish I was making this up honestly

Just reading comments just to clarify they had THEIR recycling bin (basically empty) and MY bin full of their crap!

Page 3 of this thread I asked if you were waiting for DH. Hey at least you got your bin back.

GenericHamster · 08/11/2018 19:52

Better than nothing OP! Will be interesting if anything happens next but hopefully not.

saffyBoo · 08/11/2018 19:53

Still don't know if they took it because their CF or if it was a mistake...... Blat CF aren't they!?! Ugh I'm.so.shit I should have had it out with them earlier 😂

OoMatron · 08/11/2018 19:55

At least you were brave enough to empty back into their bin and make it obvious you took yours backs. That will send a message at least Grin

saffyBoo · 08/11/2018 19:55

I do really appreciate the support on here..... I have crippling anxiety and worry about everything so he helps me to post on here x

It's great that you have the bin back but you honestly should work on overcoming the issues you have around standing up for yourself. It will do you no favours in life to have to rely on someone else to fight your battles. I mean this in the kindest way you should be able to resolve issues like this by yourself.

lolaflores · 08/11/2018 19:59

I'm not a fan 9f confrontation but I have learned to embrace it. I now simply pretend it is someone else doing the talking. She has free range to confront at will whilst timid me sits back and watches.
Very liberating having a fully controlled split personality.

Dollymixture22 · 08/11/2018 20:14

This exact thing happened to me!

I thought new neighbours would eventually notice the large numbers on the bin and give it back. Not a bit of it.

A month later I caught her outside their house and said I think you have my bin, laughed and pointed at the number. She totally blamed her husband but didn’t offer to retire it. I had to say well I’ll just take it back then.

bringbackthestripes · 08/11/2018 20:16

Ooooh now waiting for the update after you first meet them and they rant about someone going into their property, stealing their recycling bin and leaving rubbish propped up Grin

fuckitbuckit · 08/11/2018 20:23

I'd empty the bin into their front garden and take it back. Cheeky fuckers 😂 !! I can't believe you haven't already OP it is your bin which YOU have paid for?! It's not cheeky to take your own property back I can't believe you are embarrassed to do that. They are the ones who should be embarrassed and feel awkward not you. This is all very British 😂

bofsy1 · 08/11/2018 20:28

If they had asked you if you had free space in your bin there may have been no problem

But doing this without thinking of others is not good. Needs to be sorted stat.

Spankyoumuchly · 08/11/2018 20:30

Fuckitbuckit that was what I was going to write!

SawnUpLooRoll · 08/11/2018 20:35

I love a good bin thread. Let us know if any more binnanigans occur!

RollerJed · 08/11/2018 20:36

I have to see how this ends...

VelociraptorRex · 08/11/2018 21:08

OP I'm glad your bin is home safe! If it happens again, and if you can find them, you need the MN Team... me, @HavelockVetinari, @lilmishap and @AnyFucker will come and make sure any and all refuse receptacles have nothing to fear from your neighbours Grin

Jux · 08/11/2018 21:43

Ah, didn't realise that they had their own bin. Where we used to live, bins were always getting nicked, so thought your old neighbours might have taken it with them.

Our basement is let out to someone who has carers every day. Despite the bins all being very clearly marked with the different addresses, the carers always put his rubbish in our bin. DH has asked time and again for them to stop but they just carry on. Not just the wjeelie bin for landfill, but the recycling bin (often not with recyclable stuff). I once saw one of them on her way in non-uniform clothes, squeezing between a works van and our wall to dump a bag of rubbish in our bin. She wasn't even working downstairs, she was coming from elsewhere! I didn't get downstairs in time and she completelydnied it when I did see her next.

People are CFs, OP, but with luck your new neighbours won't try anything else on having been firmly squashed this time.

saffyBoo · 08/11/2018 22:05

VelociraptorRex I actually love you 😆

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 08/11/2018 23:12

Yah your bin is back in the motherland Grin

cheesefield · 08/11/2018 23:25

Well done!

Nae fucker will mess with @AnyFucker so if they're on MN I reckon your bin is safe.

southnownorth · 08/11/2018 23:30

Glad you got your bin back OP. I am very protective over my bins as well.

StoneofDestiny · 09/11/2018 08:07

Why did your DH not just put the contents of your 'borrowed bin' into their empty bin? If theirs was a genuine mistake it might have been a more neighbourly response.

CantWaitToRetire · 09/11/2018 08:19

Anyone else got the "A Team" music going round in their head as they imagine this new "MN Action Team" going about business in a specially adapted transit van?

Whereismumhiding2 · 09/11/2018 08:23

@StoneofDestiny. ... errrr.. her DH did... OP wrote .. He emptied the contents into their bin and some overspill he leaned against their house.

I suspect you needed a cup of tea first before you read MN GrinWink

VelociraptorRex · 09/11/2018 09:10

@CantWaitToRetire we'll have a Mercedes sprinter van I think, slightly better finish and extras Grin but yes, I've been humming the song since yesterday!
