This is one of the most apt political cartoon I’ve seen.

@AcrossthePond55

Don't worry. We all know it's him, not you (the US normal people ). We are with you, holding your hand.
I bet even die hard GOP are embarrassed. His fan base are probably not even aware, though. And he probably knows that his core voters don't care what happens abroad in Russian hotels for example.

Lweji · 10/11/2018 22:48

He did not win the popular vote...

Roussette · 10/11/2018 22:54

Gosh Lion how powerful that letter is.

So he tweets this today...

There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!

Then someone hacks into his account . Must be. Because we get this
@realDonaldTrump
More than 4,000 are fighting the Camp and Woolsey Fires in California that have burned over 170,000 acres. Our hearts are with those fighting the fires, the 52,000 who have evacuated, and the families of the 11 who have died. The destruction is catastrophic. God Bless them all.

These California fires are expanding very, very quickly (in some cases 80-100 acres a minute). If people don’t evacuate quickly, they risk being overtaken by the fire. Please listen to evacuation orders from State and local officials!

Obviously the first tweet from him came from the heart. That is Trump. The other two are obviously an aide

lionheart · 11/11/2018 00:07

There are countless testimonies and truly harrowing photographs from medics who have responded to #InMyLane...

TheClaws · 11/11/2018 00:09

Breitbart has buried the news item about Trump skipping the commemorative service way down its front page. Those that have have commented (few) have either said it is disrespectful or have found a way to excuse Trump somehow, like this:

WWl was just one of a long string of democrat started wars which killed so many.

Sadly, this comment - comfortably ignoring the deaths of many millions - was just one of many along the lines.

What a total cunt he is, cannot remember when I have hated someone as much as him. How dare he not go to pay his respects. I only hope veterans who support him will see his true colours now, insulting disgusting behaviour, bastard !

From The Post's Editorial Board: "If the Senate were consulted, it is impossible to imagine Mr. Whitaker getting close to the attorney general’s office. He should not be there now."

He still would. That's how bent the Senate is now.

So Trump did not turn up for the dinner last night but he is supposedly going to manage to fit this in:

www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-russia-putin-trump-meeting/trump-putin-to-meet-at-a-working-lunch-in-paris-on-nov-11-kremlin-idUSKCN1NC1SF

Roussette · 11/11/2018 08:39

So he has gone to Paris for the sole aim of meeting Putin.

Does anyone get that feeling that things are coming to a head somewhat? This is an interesting thread...

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K. Let’s sort it out.

[THREAD]
1/ Two nights ago, Rupert Murdoch called on Mitch McConnell, after hours. Since then, two Fox News-related Twitter accounts have not tweeted.
2/ Trump fired Sessions on Wednesday, replacing him with human dildo/Putin collaborator Matt Whitaker. Sessions had asked to stay until Friday and was told to leave immediately. So there was clearly some urgency to install the dildo...er, puppet.
3/ The Democrats won the SHIT out of the Midterms. Come January, the House check on Trump will leave him so hobbled, he’ll be like the dude from Misery.
4/ Trump went to Paris, ostensibly for an Armistice Day centennial event. He skipped the event, and much of the dinner tonight, because of “weather,” which everyone seems to agree is a bullshit excuse.
5/ Tomorrow, Trump is meeting with Putin, who owns him.
There are reports of House Repubs in Paris, just there for no good reason.
6/ Whitaker has no authority as “acting AG.” Also, he’s been called “a crackpot” and “a fucking moron,” and he was a key player in a company that bilked veterans out of their savings. Trump CLEARLY picked him b/c he thinks Whitaker will help him cashier Mueller. WRONG!
7/ Junior thinks he’s going to be indicted any day now. With the election over, OSC is free to resume busting collaborators.
8/ Kushner is rumored to be cooperating with Mueller since last December.
9/ The WSJ broke a story saying Trump AUTHORIZED and DIRECTED the hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and the Playboy model he’d boinked.

That’s a felony, all by itself.
10/ New York AG has Trump’s longtime mob accountant under immunity, and the case will eventually take down ALL the Trumps, including Ivanka and Eric. Assets will be seized.
11/ Trump’s usual deflections are not working. He’s scared, literally holed up in a hotel room, waiting to meet with the man who pwns him…and could end him in the blink of an eye.

The meeting will be recorded by every intel agency under the sun, BTW.
We are all impatient. We all want justice. We WILL get it. And then some. Soon. Be patient, stay frosty, and don’t lose faith. Shit is about to get VERY real.

WE SHALL PREVAIL.

[END]

lionheart · 11/11/2018 08:47

His behaviour is so outlandish I can't help thinking Putin is testing him ... and his reaction to the journalist the other day was quite something.

Gumpendorf · 11/11/2018 08:54

I need to catch up but the decision not to go to the memorial was so gobsmackingly bad that it should be grounds for impeachment all by itself. I really don't know how he can ever show his face in public again. Angry

TheClaws · 11/11/2018 09:07

I’d noticed that about Fox’s Twitter. The last post is November 8. That is very, very unusual - commonly, that account posts at least two or three tweets an hour, more in peak periods. I’ve thought it’s due to the election loss - but perhaps not.

OP posts:
Gumpendorf · 11/11/2018 09:16

Across. ThanksThanks Trump and the GOP are only embarrassing themselves. No one thinks any less of the American people - quite the contrary. Your resilience and resistance is fantastic. The lines of people waiting to vote made me cry.

And anyway, if you want to laugh just look at Britain. ConfusedGrin

Gumpendorf · 11/11/2018 09:29

The Murdoch/McConnell meeting was interesting. I'm not sure why that would stop Fox tweeting. I don't follow them but their feed seems to be just general news.

There would be members of Congress in Paris because it's an international occasion.
Trump originally said he was going to Paris for the parade because he couldn't have his own. It may have been an opportunity to meet up with Putin in person but he's not there just because of that.

I may have seen too many hopeful scenarios played on Twitter I'm still waiting to be rocked by Jon Cooper's big scoop.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/11/2018 09:38

Do we know what Putins schedule was yesterday?

Roussette · 11/11/2018 10:07

What I don't understand is.... even if Trump didn't know, his aides would know that him not going to the American Cemetery when all other Heads of States went to theirs - in the rain - would be met with disgust and derision.

Are they in freefall or do they just not care any more? Are things so bad that public opinion is just not relevant to them any more?

Also, surely they would realise that him not going to the Cemetery because of rain will not go down well with his nationalist military supporting cult members.

Roussette · 11/11/2018 10:08

p.s. there was a suggestion on Twitter that maybe Fox News will not be supporting him so much as previously... if so, the beginning of the end surely!

Gumpendorf · 11/11/2018 10:36

Rousette, I was thinking the same. It must have been a hell of a tantrum that he goes all the way to Paris and stays in his hotel room. The optics are awful. I can't remember any other 'leader' who has done that without claiming illness

I think the Fox turning point was when Hannity and co appeared at his rally. They issued a tight lipped statement disassociating themselves.

Gumpendorf · 11/11/2018 10:38

From the Guardians live feed:

In Paris, around 70 heads of state, prime ministers and foreign dignitaries are gathered with Emmanuel Macron, at the start of armistice commemorations at the Arc de Triomphe.
Russia’s Vladimir Putin was the last to arrive at the Arc de Triomphe, shaking hands with Macron and Angela Merkel. Putin then stopped to shake hands with the US president Donald Trump and gave Trump a thumbs up.
In the pouring rain, most heads of state arrived with Macron in coaches driven up the Champs Elysées from the presidential palace. They then walked slowly together under black umbrellas to the Arc de Triomphe, with Angela Merkel beside Macron.
This image of leaders walking together through the rain was described by French commentators described as a moving gesture about peace.
Some leaders were absent from this slow march, including the US president Donald Trump and the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who both arrived at the Arc de Triomphe separately in their own security detail. Macron is to deliver a speech and then light a flame in honour of an unknown soldier.
Testimonies written by soldiers on November 11, 1918, as the ceasefire took hold, will be read later by high school students in French, English and German.

BTW - the ‘FOX & Friends account is still active, just not the primary Fox News and Fox News Politics. Both of those stopped on November 8, when previously they were quite active. If anything, FOX & Friends is the least active and has less comments than the other two.
