The Assassination of Katie Hopkins?

Snowymountainsalways · 15/10/2018 13:55

Am I the only one who thinks this show is incredibly distasteful? I am not a fan of Katie Hopkins but I recognise that she is in fact a human being with feelings and has children. What are her children to make of this? How does she explain this to them? And her family? It must be deeply offensive.

It is one thing to explore the power of social media etc and quite another to have show written like this about someone who is still very much alive and well.

What are your thoughts?

How does she explain her rasist, sexist, xenophobic cuntish beliefs to her children? And her family?
She is deeply offensive

YABU. She's vile. Famously vile and if you're famously vile and famous this is the kind of thing that might happen to you. I would imagine she doesn't give a damn given that she had her heart replaced a long time ago with a piece of flint and has skin thicker than a that of a scorched rhino.

Gigglebrain · 15/10/2018 14:03

No sympathy, she must know how she’s behaving, she should justify herself to her children, no idea how she does though. Despicable person.

DappledThings · 15/10/2018 14:04

I havent heard of this show but I misread it as Katie Holmes and thought, "Jeez, I know she got mixed up in all that Scientology bullshit when she was married to Tom Cruise but are her views now really so abhorrent?".

In my defence I've been rewatching Dawson's Creek recently so she's more on my radar than Katie Hopkins

AuntBeastie · 15/10/2018 14:04

Sounds distasteful and not to my liking but she would be hard pressed to complain about it. When she called refugee seekers ‘cockroaches’ and called for a final solution for them she had little regard for the fact that those people are humans with real feelings and families. She has made a comfortable living from dehumanising others and whipping her fans into believing that it’s ok to treat certain groups of people as subhuman. I can’t feel too much sympathy for her being at the receiving end for a change.

Urbanbeetler · 15/10/2018 14:05

To be honest I think that person feels all publicly is good publicity.

Belina · 15/10/2018 14:06

i liked her on big brother she was entertaining but the woman is bitter and angry for no reason.

i swear all bitter and angry people always look like raisins all that anger just gives you droopy wrinkled skin

Nesssie · 15/10/2018 14:06

Yeah that's a bit distasteful imo. I don't agree with everything she says, but some things I admire she has the guts to say out aloud.

RayRayBidet · 15/10/2018 14:08

She doesn't see others as human beings so I'm afraid I can't muster up much sympathy

Snowymountainsalways · 15/10/2018 14:08

Her children didn't 'choose' for this life and yet they must love their mother and worry about her, this must be horrible for them to see. It is somewhat distasteful to speak about anyone in those terms.

Yes her comments are awful, but I can't help but feel we can't all sink to her level.

tbh when she has put her self forwards as the poster girl of the most abhorrent views on race, religion, gender, sexism (and on and on) then she really cant be expecting kindness and compassion from anyone else can she? She hasnt shown a jot of compassion for refuges, or people down on their luck, so as the saying goes "reap as ye shall sow" and she has sown a lot of bad luck and feeling all over the shop. I despise her and everything she stands for....... surely she cant have been stupid enough to not realise that the press would turn on her at some stage?

VintageFur · 15/10/2018 14:09

YANBU - it is of course deeply hypocritical for those who find her view unpalatable... To suggest this is A-OK. Plus CA change and all that jazz.

Snowymountainsalways · 15/10/2018 14:10

Lets assume for a moment that Katie wasn't a white British female (and therefore doesn't seem to have any rights whatsoever) would it still be okay?

OP posts:
KlutzyDraconequus · 15/10/2018 14:12

Her children didn't 'choose' for this life

Shane KH didn't think about that before she starting being a paid for and professional scum sucking piece of shite.

I'd she wanted to shut her face and spare her children, she's perfectly capable.

MiniTheMinx · 15/10/2018 14:12

Why does she need to be assassinated? We've been witness to her almost total mental disintegration for some time.

BigChocFrenzy · 15/10/2018 14:12

I can't stand her, but that is vile and still would be even if she had no family

Snowymountainsalways · 15/10/2018 14:12

Her views are deeply offensive and I disagree with most (if not all) of them, but she IS allowed to have them. Are we going to muzzle everyone we disagree with?

OP posts:
AuntBeastie · 15/10/2018 14:14

Nobody is abusing her for being a white British female. People are calling her out for her truly abhorrent views. Surely you can see the difference?

KH incites hatred and violence against people because they belong to certain ethnicities or follow certain religions.

People hate KH because she’s cruel, racist, homophobic, classist and sexist.

Those two things are not ‘equally bad’. False moral equivalency is unhelpful and uninformed.

PositiveVibez · 15/10/2018 14:15

How will she explain to her children that she called a child who was groomed by a footballer, a slag?

Won't be watching myself, but can't say I'm surprised or upset by the programme.

AuntBeastie · 15/10/2018 14:15

Who’s muzzling her? Has she been thrown in prison for expressing her views? Does she face torture, detainment or death when she shares her opinion?

TheStoic · 15/10/2018 14:16

Her views are deeply offensive and I disagree with most (if not all) of them, but she IS allowed to have them. Are we going to muzzle everyone we disagree with?

How is she being muzzled?

Snowymountainsalways · 15/10/2018 14:17

There are others that preach hatred too, she is very far from the only one. Lets imagine that we have the same show but this time, for instance hate preacher Choudary.

Would that be allowed to happen run as a show? Of course not. There would be the biggest shit storm ever.

She is fair game because she is female, white and has the audacity to have controversial views.

OP posts:
TheStoic · 15/10/2018 14:19

Are you for free speech or not, OP?

Snowymountainsalways · 15/10/2018 14:20

I feel she is being muzzled, because she is being intimidated to stop. What is wrong with the public simply saying we disagree and disengage. Writing shows about her assassination is really vile and another form of intimidation.

I can't stand her, but it is a step too far for me.
