This has been a tough week.

Bolleaux and Gump and anyone else feeling the need for a break - you might not have noticed, but throughout the whole Kavanaugh issue, I haven’t posted any updates on that particularly, or commented on it. Not because I don’t agree that Kavanaugh shouldn’t have been confirmed to the Supreme Court, but it felt too close to home. So I stayed out of it and kept to news outside of that. That’s a strategy I’d recommend - step outside of your usual news sources and find something different.

Yes, good advice from Ed Asner! 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' and 'Lou Grant' were favourites when I was (a lot) younger. Funnily enough, for a bit of light relief, I have been watching a few episodes of MTM (and 'Bewitched' and 'Happy Days') on YouTube over the last couple of weeks, after they just popped up, as stuff does. Some things wear better than others.

I hear you Claws. DH and I know what's going to happen today so we've made the decision to only watch Netflix, Amazon, etc and our 'upper channels' like Discovery ID, etc that don't have news and never interrupt with 'Special Bulletins'. We figure there's time enough to find out the nightmare isn't a dream after all.

Luckily season 3 of Man in the High Castle was just released. If anyone hasn't seen MitHC yet, I highly recommend it.

Susan Collins, the Maine Moderate is no more. She has yoked herself to Trump and in doing so has embraced his tactics and methods. It seems highly likely that Maine voters are going to hit the refresh button on their states’ Senior Senate seat in 2020.

Collins speech on the Senate floor was a paean to disingenuousness and incoherence. Like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, its’ metamorphosis complete, she emerged fully as a Trump Republican at home and on board with the cruelty, lies and degradations of this corrupt er.

A couple of my friends, a gay couple who live in Maine are so so disappointed in Susan Collins. They whatsapped me about it beforehand and said they didn't expect her to vote No but held out hope nonetheless
