Another missive from NK’s state-sanctioned Rondong Sinmun decrying US actions. This one mentions Russia and China by name, clearly identifying these countries as allies and helpmates against the US (and the ambiguous, capitalist ‘West’). This is escalating in the background of Kavanaugh.
Sanctions and Dialogue Can Never Go Together
U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo said on September 14 that unchangeable was the stand of the U.S. to go on implementing the UN resolutions on sanctions, adding it is decisive for denuclearization of the Korean peninsula to execute sanctions against the DPRK.
China and Russia have expressed strong opposition to the unilateral sanctions under the U.S. law as regards the fact that the U.S. is intensifying the sanctions and pressure on the DPRK.
Many countries in the world are joining them.
As is known, the trend of peace created on the Korean peninsula is making a new sensation with the 5th north-south summit in Pyongyang as an occasion.
In the June 12 Singapore joint statement, the DPRK and the U.S. promised to newly establish their relations in line with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
Those countries related to the issue of the Korean peninsula, which are said to slacken or interrupt the sanctions against the DPRK, stood up against the U.S. sanctions. This is for keeping the present situation unimaginably getting better and steadily advancing the trend in line with the demand of the international community.
But the U.S. is trying to go on imposing sanctions under the unreasonable pretext.
What the U.S. should clearly know is that sanctions and pressure cannot work on the DPRK.
Sanctions and dialogue can never go together. It is a contradiction that the U.S. is talking about the dialogue with its partner while ratcheting up sanctions and pressure on it.
The U.S. should squarely see the trend of the times and make a proper choice.
