[All In with Chris Hayes] Republicans push to end the Kavanaugh investigation

In her new book, Rebecca Traister invokes rage to unify women in a battle against men. But being mad can prove divisive, too.'

I haven't read the NUT piece yet, but I know it will have me screaming 'How were they allowed to get away with it'. If justice does not catch up with them now, with it's full force (though that 'force' may well be wholly inadequate), something is irrepairably broken.

PerkingFaintly · 03/10/2018 09:24

There was someone (first-time posterHmm) on another thread suggesting, women are angry so let's show it by... having a general strike.

WTF?

Bannon's said he likes people's anger. He uses it as the fuel while he does the steering. In fact all the disruptivists like it for exactly this reason.

So yeah, having the fire is one thing. But keeping self-control and judgement about how to use that fire is just as important.

This is the Stinkhorn's elder sister, Fed. Court Judge Maryanne Barry:

Lweji · 03/10/2018 09:58

Yes, we don't need rage.
We need assertiveness.

ohmymimi · 03/10/2018 10:09

Self-control, judgement, assertiveness - PerkiingandLweji, absolutely, those qualities, combined with integrity, are the obverse of the current forces rallied by Stinky and the GOP. (Bullying is not positive assertiveness).

Here's the full text of Kavanaugh's two-page letter, sent ahead of "Beach Week" in June 1983. ("Bart" was his nickname in high school.)

We also tracked down a copy of Georgetown Prep's underground newspaper, written in part by Mark Judge. It includes a column about Holton-Arms girls, calling them "hosebags." (Look it up.)
Christine Blasey Ford was a student there.

Educated white women were already recoiling from Trump. Then came Kava

Just listening to MJ saying that the polls have tightened since Kavanaugh, the FBI investigation will wrap up today and there is no evidence to support the stories of Ford or Ramirez.

Trump appealing to Moms already concerned about their sons' future at the whim of unfounded allegations will appeal to women in certain states.

I'm not sure it's just educated white women, but even so will educated women be enough?

From the piece linked above, by Benjamin Witte, who previously vouched for Kavanaugh's character.

It demonstrates Kav shows very different faces to different people.

I Know Brett Kavanaugh, but I Wouldn’t Confirm Him
www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/why-i-wouldnt-confirm-brett-kavanaugh/571936/

The Brett Kavanaugh who showed up to Thursday’s hearing is a man I have never met, whom I have never even caught a glimpse of in 20 years of knowing the person who showed up to the first hearing. I dealt with Kavanaugh during the Starr investigation, which I covered for the Washington Post editorial page and about which I wrote a book. I dealt with him when he was in the White House counsel’s office and working on judicial nominations and post–September 11 legal matters. Since his confirmation to the D.C. Circuit, he has been a significant voice on a raft of issues I work on. In all of our interactions, he has been a consummate professional. The allegations against him shocked me very deeply, but not quite so deeply as did his presentation. It was not just an angry and aggressive version of the person I have known. It seemed like a different person altogether.

A vicious, vile and soulless attack on Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Is it any wonder that she was terrified to come forward, and that other sexual assault survivors are as well? She is a remarkable profile in courage. He is a profile in cowardice.
