I should know better, I’m 40, got ragingly drunk last night and now I’m waiting for the hangover, join me with your tales of woe
(Light hearted, no lectures about sensible drinking please)

So I fell down the steps to my front door, can’t remember about 2 hours from last night, couldn’t find my purse when I woke up, it was in the front garden with £20 notes all over the lawn, I feel ok now but the hangover is on its way, I’m seriously giving up drinking for a bit

I’ll join you my head is pounding - unfair as well as all I had was 3 vodka lime and sodas a glass of red with dinner and a glass of fizz - I wasn’t even drunk!

Still at least I haven’t puked

Starwednesday · 09/09/2018 10:30

I can’t even remember what I drank, I checked my bank account I was using contactless in an expensive bar, great, I was so lucky I found my purse, I think I just had spirits, it’s usually wine that makes my stomach churn the next day

Last time I was out with this mate ( first hen do of three 😂) I came home as a friend who was staying was mugged in the toilet- woke up the next day with no recollection of any of it and I couldn’t understand why she had no phone and a bruised leg - I assumed it was due to pissed shenanigans and took the piss! I was also sick - lots

I am 48!

QueenOfMyWorld · 09/09/2018 10:31

Me too! Although I think I've got off lightly.Just had this Smile

notsohippychick · 09/09/2018 10:34

I sympathise. Whilst I’m so not lecturing, I did this far too many times to mention!! It’s horrible! My hangovers were so bad. Lasting 2 days that I gave up drinking!!

Starwednesday · 09/09/2018 10:34

I think I need to eat something and take some paracetamol before it really hits

I can't drink at the moment due to medication, but went to a hen doo earlier in the year and got totally shitfaced. Spent the rest of the night chucking up and praying for death. I was 45 at the time Blush

Starwednesday · 09/09/2018 10:36

I’m not going to drink until the Christmas do now, I don’t normally drink, but when I do go out (about 3/4 times a year) I go crazy,

Bluntness100 · 09/09/2018 10:37

Yup, I'm 49 and did it last weekend. I had three quarters of a bottle of wine. Sadly I also had an empty tummy and am low carbing. The result was inevitable.

So yup, I vomited it up and went to bed,,,and then woke up at six am and puked twice again. I wasn't even bloody drunk.

Wine is a nightmare, but at my age I know not to drink on an empty tummy and I know what happens when I do. It makes me sick. I've chucked up less than half a bottle of wine before if I drink it on an empty tummy,

But that didn't stop me. Oh no. 😳

GertrudeCB · 09/09/2018 10:38

Advice- ibuprofen, dry toast and sips of water to start with.
In a few hours a McMuffin and full sugar cola. Wink

MrsJayy · 09/09/2018 10:38

I am 47 years old !

Starwednesday · 09/09/2018 10:39

Wine is evil, really makes my stomach delicate and churning the next day
I think I mainly had pink gin with a few vodkas too, we did have food as well though

35 here, so bad yesterday I was dry retching at the vets, the vet asked me to sit down and got me a glass of water. He thought I was pregnant!
I was meant to be home the night before by 12 as my cat had a morning appointment, rolled in at 3.30am.

Starwednesday · 09/09/2018 10:42

Dry retching at the vets!!! That made me laugh, sorry 😂

What a brilliant thread ! Went out last with dp suffering for it now 😩 spoke to some girls in the smoking area (I don't even smoke ) about their boyfriends thought there needed to lose weight etc and they weren't good enough these girls were slim and stunning !! 😩 I told them go ditch them as they can do better coming from an older person they thought I was 27 but I'm 31 ! Was v flattered lmao

GertrudeCB · 09/09/2018 10:45

Anyone else find that a hangover that you could shake off in your 20's becomes a 2 day extravaganza once you over 40 ?

Starwednesday · 09/09/2018 10:45

Haha yes I was told I look 30 but I’m 40 but I think they were prob as drunk as me!

OP posts:
Starwednesday · 09/09/2018 10:47

Yep, I’ve had a two day hangover before, I hope this one isn’t too bad
I woke up with just one contact lense in this morning, the other one is in the bathroom windowsill

glintandglide · 09/09/2018 10:50

2 days?! I’m lucky if I can function normally within 4 nowadays. The whole week seems lost to tiredness and over emotion Grin

Still do it though. Eek

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 09/09/2018 10:51

I'm ashamed to say that d h and I only rolled in at 8am from a party...well seen the dc are only away once in a blue moon Grin

Starwednesday · 09/09/2018 10:51

Ok so I need to venture out of the bed now, I showered already because I woke up in my smokey clothes from last night, I’m heading for the kitchen in search of dry food, liquids and paracetamol

Yup, hangovers last longer for me now too.

I've honestly got the fear. Last night I poured a glass of wine, then binned it and had a vodka instead.

The thing is I can have a vodka and coke, or gin and tonic and one or two does me. I open wine and I immediately want another glass. I'm really starting to live in fear of it. 🤣
