To expect panty liners to be unscented

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with the people who thought perfumed sanitary products were a good idea? I just bought some Always Dailies for my 10-year-old as she's just hitting puberty....but nowhere on the pack does it say they are scented. I didn't realise until I got home. Gross! It's such a nasty chemical smell...like floor cleaner. Does anyone know which brands (if any) make unscented slim liners?

Sadly all panty liners I have bought are scented. I use them during pregnancy due to excess discharge and I have been unable to find unscented ones as yet.

Reusable ones are an option.

Always and bodyform both do unscented ones but they seem to have got harder to find recently. Try the big supermarkets or a big boots (and be wary of any that say "fresh" on them too)

I hate this too. I find myself sniffing the boxes in the supermarket to ensure they are unscented, as the labelling is not always clear. I don't even care if I look bonkers, I hate the smell of the scented ones. There really is no need.

Carefree do an unscented one, I accidentally picked up the scented ones and my god is it overpowering and so unnecessary!

Natracare do perfume-free, chlorine-free liners.

Aldi do unscented ones too. As a post above said, avoid any boxes that say 'fresh' on them, that usually means scented!

I buy Tesco's own - they do regular (20 for 66p) and large (28 for 85p). They say daily freshness on them but they're not scented.

Double check the Aldi ones, I've always bought the unscented ones, but accidentally picked up a scented pack by mistake, not only do they smell awful, but my skin has reacted quite badly (as it always does to scented products

I agree, scented sanitary protection is vile - I buy Always Sensitive for my daughter, which seem to me to be unscented, I usually get them in Superdrug.

To be honest though, I think buying daily panty liners sends the wrong message too...

What message is it sending? My daughter hasn't talked to me about it and I'm not sure how best to approach it, but she has been stuffing tissues in her pants. I keep finding them around the house and wash basket. I thought that presenting her with a more discreet alternative would be a nice thing to do.

I have to use Always Dailies every single day if I want to feel dry. I’m not sure how it sends a bad message when it’s a necessity to some RE discharge. Agree with the scented bit though. Everything has to be scented these days it’s just mad

I've seen this a lot on here but have never ever come across any and o always buy different random ones, basically the cheapest or the one on Offer, own brands etc. Maybe try the cheaper brands? I also have started sniffing boxes recently after reading about them on here and still haven't come across any! I don't want them just don't want to buy by mistake.

statetrooperstacey every pack I found in Boots and Superdrug today was scented, andthe one pack I thought was not scented at all turned out to be scented. I'm not talking towels here...just the thin daily ones. There used to be tiny slim ones you could get in a box, which Inthought dd would find less "scary" but couldn't find them anywhere either.

Cottons (usually in larger Boots) are unscented and there’s another brand called Kind (I think) that are unscented.

I never had a problem buying unscented liners until I moved to England. I've just gotten use to it I guess because now I don't even notice the smell.

@BrazenFoxed it feels like every day there are complaints about scented san pro - you must be new here if you havent seen them

LeroyJenkins and therefore clearly it is an issue for many people.

I think when someone says it's "sending the wrong idea" they might be referring to the fact that some ladies put perfume "down there", especially prior to a date or intimate experience.

This is NOT recommended as it has the potential to affect your normal microorganisms that live in there. You can get NASTY infections and irritations as a consequence.

OP, you might consider seeing if your DD would like some cloth pads. These can be washed and reused. They tend to be expensive up front, but over time you save because you're not buying panty liners. They even make cloth panty liners IIRC.
