New thread and still wondering why there has been no apology or acknowledgement of the incident in Loose Women last week.

It IS absolute toss wolfy. And the video isn't even a clip of the LW show - I think it must be the BB house and designed to show KW in the worst light (though if that's the worst they can find . . . ). And for the record "fat" is a description - if she'd said "your a blue-eyed young man", it would have been accepted as descriptive. If he's fat and doesn't like to be described as fat, he should do something about his weight (whoever he is). I'm fat - I wouldn't like to be told it, but I am, and presumably this came up in the context of a conversation about appearance - it wasn't just picked out of the ether. In those situations you can expect to be criticised, and I'm sure comments had been made to and/or about Kim.

MrMakersVan · 05/09/2018 18:26

Re Janet Street Porter’s piece.

I would be humiliated to have to have someone tell the nation that, in their opinion, I was not a nasty person. It is a basic human given that we are not cruel to each other. Coleen Nolan bullied and gloated. The public are letting her know how they feel about her actions. It is not up to a third person to tell us what those feelings should be.

LeftRightCentre · 05/09/2018 18:38

JSP is a twat, too.

wolfywolfy · 05/09/2018 18:49

This is the biggest case of gaslighting I ever did see 🧐

Everyoneiswingingit · 05/09/2018 19:17

Oh dear JSP. Even if anyone was pro LW and CN, after seeing that none of them admit they were wrong in any way and are denying what we cam ALL clearly see on the show, they must surely see now that these people are not worthy of their elevated status.

Everyoneiswingingit · 05/09/2018 19:18

And as for CN saying she's too upset, pah! She was very busy writing sarcastic comments on her twitter account and rubbing it in people's faces when she should have been apologising!

beingthere · 05/09/2018 19:21

JSP: “...but what followed on social media was truly insane, and didn’t reflect (in my opinion) what actually happened.”

In my opinion it did. So that cancels that out. You are no more an authority than I. Actually, your judges robes goading shows you are less of an authority on human nature. I wouldn’t have done that.

Everyoneiswingingit · 05/09/2018 19:41

JSP if ITV /LW or CN had apologised right away, it would have died a death days ago. If there's one thing the British public hate , that is arrogance shown by those in the public eye. The attitude that they can do what they want because their faces are known.

Magicmonster · 05/09/2018 19:44

I appreciate I am in the minority in thinking this has been slightly blown out of proportion. It seems to me that Kim can go on tv shout and call everyone horrible names and it attracts sympathy, because she was goaded by CN, and her reaction was just an innate part of her personality/reaction to events in her past. On the other hand, the person who most of her tirade is addressed at is vilified for making a few unsympathetic/sarcastic comments in response. Yet she also was goaded, and presumably her response is also a reflection of her character and past etc. From where I’m sitting they are arguably both bullies. So why the difference in public sympathy? Is it because CN was a presenter so a higher standard expected of her? I can see something in that but not enough to explain the huge difference in opinion. Is it because KW is older or suffered in the past that’s she deserves more sympathy? I see the past abuse as explaining but not altogether excusing her actions - many people suffer abuse and don’t go on to act like that.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t love CN or hate KW. I just don’t quite understand how one is being praised and the other vilified when in my opinion they both bullied or at least both acted badly.

5minutes · 05/09/2018 19:51

Magicmonster people don’t like CN, they like Kim. It’s simple. CN has to be whiter than white and Kim can get away with more. Thems the breaks. I know that, my colleagues know that, the people I discussed it with outside the school gate today know that. JSP and cronies and you don’t know that.

Thems the breaks.

MistressDeeCee · 05/09/2018 19:52

KW is an elderly woman. She's suffered abuse, and mental.health issues. Even if she doesn't have a perfect character, people aren't going to like seeing a woman 4 years from 80 baited in this way.

That the women baiting her are decades younger, makes it even worse. Alongside the 'scary' entrance music, the judges robes and CN's mutterings + looking like she had sis there for backup then of course people will think 'this isn't on'.

I'm not a KW fan at all but whilst watching that segment of show, within 2 minutes of KW walking into studio I was thinking 'uh oh, they'll be slated for this'. It was obvious.

There are some subjects you just don't take the piss out of, and I think CNs ego must have made her unaware of that.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/09/2018 19:53

I agree - all it would have taken would have been for her to say - "I'm sorry. I hadn't realised how spiteful I was being until I saw the clip. I was shocked at how I came over. I hadn't meant to be mean and cruel, but I was - I apologise unreservedly to Kim. I hope she can forgive me for dismissing her feelings and upsetting her so much. Kim - I'm sorry. Please forgive me and let us start out again with a clean slate"

Everybody would have thought she was wonderful. The whole lot would have blown over.

eleventwelths · 05/09/2018 19:58

Magicmonster

They were both angry. But the Nolans (note that Linda Nolan is nowhere to be seen and hasn’t stuck up for her sister since) were cruel. A slanging match is just that. Belittling someone’s child abuse is a disgusting act. Trying to garner public sympathy by JSP coming out now and saying that Nolan’s father was a pedophile is the lowest of the low. CN knew someone who was sexually abused. It actually happened to Kim and Nolan sneered at it. Disgusting.

Magicmonster · 05/09/2018 19:59

Thanks both for explaining where you and others are coming from. I guess I didn’t know anything about CN or KW prior to this so don’t know all the background. Thanks also for teaching me ‘Thems that breaks.’ Had to google that one!

MrMakersVan · 05/09/2018 20:00

”I'm sorry. I hadn't realised how spiteful I was being until I saw the clip.”

I for one would have applauded that.
That’s the way to do PR.

Frequency · 05/09/2018 20:01

I agree. In my eyes it was six of one and half a dozen of the other. Coleen Nolan et al were wrong to snigger and sneer when Kim was upset. LW producers were wrong to set it up but Kim came out and was immediately confrontational and said some nasty things to Coleen, who initially did just sit and take it.

No-one came out of it covered In glory, imo.

I don't think it's important that Kim is old or has MH issues and if she was someone's MIL being as brash and confrontational as she can be posters would be up in arms if her mental health or age were used an excuse for behaving badly to another person.

MrMakersVan · 05/09/2018 20:02

”Everybody would have thought she was wonderful.”

Yes again. Her concert sales would be tenfold instead of the humiliation they are.

Pompadourpink · 05/09/2018 20:08

I agree MagicMonster.

justshowsyou · 05/09/2018 20:09

Woah! Petition being signed now by those that don’t like Nolan’s cronies “speaking for them”. Presumably Janet Steet Porter.

Well, that backfired!

Magicmonster · 05/09/2018 20:27

‘Frequency’ and ‘pompadourpink’ - glad I’m not the only one 😀

southeastdweller · 05/09/2018 20:29

JSP if ITV /LW or CN had apologised right away, it would have died a death days ago

CN really could have made the most of Kim appearing on LW and done her 'career' a lot of good by apologising but instead this is a textbook example of how not to do good P.R. CN and JSP have either ignored good advice by their reps or been badly advised, either way they've shown their true colours and I'm delighted that CN's 'career' is at least temporarily over. She thought she was untouchable...turns out she isn't and is just another z list celeb.

justshowsyou · 05/09/2018 20:32

The thing is (Coleen if you’re reading) we can turn off the internet and sleep well tonight. We’ve heard from your son and Janet SP and other sources that you can’t. That you can’t sleep and are crying all day.

Why do you think I that is?

Is it because of something out of your control? Nope.

Think about that.

Occamsrazorblade · 05/09/2018 20:42

If you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

And Janet Street Porter is just making fucking excuses... but she didn’t quite come out far enough did she? She covered her own arse very well.

Silly Coleen. None of them have your back.

HelenaDove · 05/09/2018 20:48

In this weeks issue of Best (yes i took one for the team) it is written thus....

"As soon as she arrived on screen Kim told Coleen 53 what she really thought of her labelling her a horrible person"

Making it sound like Kim started it No mention of the music being played as Kim walked on.

The damage limitation ball is in full swing.

NoelHeadbands · 05/09/2018 20:53

I’m back at work this week so haven’t seen the interview on This Morning or anything else.

I honestly believe that if Loose Women had just devoted a 60 second segment the following day to an explanation and apology, the whole debacle would have blown over by the weekend.

Instead, their arrogance and bull headedness has led to this woman finding herself the target of real hate, and the rest of them with seriously damaged reputations. I wonder if some of the people behind the scenes will find their professionalism in question as well
