Has anyone else just watched Loose Women/Kim Woodburn’s outburst?

Is it ok for LW to support Stacey over nasty headline branding her "Boring, Desperate and Cheap" saying it's mean and bullying(which it is )after Coleen called Kim Woodburn "A vile, publicity seeking witch" live on air yesterday?
Oh the irony!

knittedwoollenmouse · 30/08/2018 17:27

It's like mental health only gets sympathy if you act in a certain way. If you show anger or resentment nobody wants to go near it, you have to play their game. It's too heavy a subject for a tabloid tv show like LW they should leave it to the experts.

This ^

Mentul ‘elf ishoos are only tolerated if the sufferer is humble, simpering, grateful and doesn’t overdo it Hmm

LW show is so amateurish and pathetic.

MrsJayy · 30/08/2018 17:35

Yes you have to be simpering in your mh ishoos don't be ragey mind it is so uncouth 😕

knittedwoollenmouse · 30/08/2018 17:49

Indeed. Not allowed to be loud, unpredictable or rejecting of someone invading your personal space either. Having hugs and dabbing gently and attractively at your not overly red eyes is preferable.

This is the level these LW people operate on.

IamPickleRick · 30/08/2018 17:59

Is colleen’s secret that she wasn’t even on the recorded version of I’m in the mood for dancing?

IamPickleRick · 30/08/2018 18:04

For me, the whole thing was a mean girls trope.

Linda : the one who probably does genuinely feel remorseful for someone getting upset, but can’t resist the stronger pull of the group so has to put in seemingly innocent but leading comments like “you seem very angry?”
Colleen : the one that talks about you behind your back in order to seem interesting because on her own she ain’t got much
Linda Nolan : the big older sister who comes along to punch your lights out if you upset the littlest sister
Janet : intelligent and reasoned one who is probably thinking WTF have I just been involved in.

Totally agree with you @knittedwoollenmouse and all the PPs saying the same. There is a thin veneer of understanding of MH in the media world and a new ‘openness’ that obscures the fact that attitudes haven’t shifted much. As Will Self recently said (and I am paraphrasing here), ‘nothing’s changed, lots of talk of MH lite but try having a diagnosis of Schizophrenia (for example) and then come and tell me attitudes have shifted’. He’s right and this episode with KW really illustrates what happens if your difficulties, your reactions, your emotional regulation doesn’t fit with others’ expectations or assumptions. The response is still mediaeval from the very people who say they support people with mental health difficulties.

TheQueef · 30/08/2018 18:36

When Kim left cbb she expected to get her old armour back but IMO Phil schofield belittled and taunted her too soon.
It hurt her that people hadn't seen the snide stuff and pack mentality. That's why it hurts so much now.
Nicola and Colleen were brutal with Kim.

They absolutely knew how to wind her up. Regardless of Kim mental health, they picked spots at an older woman, because they are nasty.
JSP has really gone downmarket from that clip.

Everyoneiswingingit · 30/08/2018 18:38

Just not on for a host to insult a guest.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 30/08/2018 19:04

Can no one see the double standard here? How is OK for some of you to type what you have done about Coleen Nolan and other LW panellists on this thread, which is about perceived bullying?

yesterdaysgone · 30/08/2018 19:10

So we shouldn't say anything? surely it's worse to keep quiet. They were bullying, we aren't. It isn't double standards at all.

BiggerBoat1 · 30/08/2018 19:13

I have complained to OFCOM. Never done it before but the way Kim was treated was appalling. I don' care what she may have done or not done in the past - that panel bullied her and should feel ashamed. CN is a truly vile woman.

picklemepopcorn · 30/08/2018 19:15

ODG, LW set up a situation in order to bully and humiliate someone.

Completely different from the criticism we are meting out here. Agreed, the criticism shouldn't be 'personal' as such. Critical of their behaviour, yes absolutely.

LuckyDiamond · 30/08/2018 19:15

They talked over Kim and deliberately chose to misinterpret the things she was saying, leaping on half sentences. They were pressing her buttons. Colleen has plenty experience of this from her CBB days.

It was cruelty.

Mymycherrypie · 30/08/2018 20:02

I think that if, at the very start, Linda Robson had said “yes, I DID say to you that Colleen had been two faced - and I think Colleen would admit that herself” (as Colleen later did admit) the tone would have been very different and KW would not have felt so cornered by the others from the get go.

MaluCachu · 30/08/2018 20:06

It was a pre meditated witch hunt.More so by ‘The Nolans’.Horrible pair of cows.

OP posts:
Sleepyshores · 30/08/2018 21:06

I watched it yesterday and am appalled by what I saw. They were all bullies, Colleen, JSP, Lynda Nolan and Linda Robson. Poor Kim was set up as a villain from the start, with the footage from CBB showing her in the worst light, then the bloody Omen/exorcist music whatever it was, depicting her as a devil, then Colleen Nolan refusing to speak at the start, when she was clearly meant to which instantly put Kim on edge. I used to like Linda Robson but, and I know I'm in the minority here, I thought she was horrible to Kim. She spoke really harshly to her, I thought, kept asking if she had anger issues, then
pretended to comfort her when she was upset, no doubt to make herself look good. It's no wonder Kim wanted her to leave her alone. She's weak and pathetic and just followed the crowd. I was hoping there would be an apology today on LW but there was no mention of it at all, just them talking about how upset they were about nasty comments about Stacey in a magazine. How hypocrytical! I noticed Stacey saying about how great the LW were, no doubt about who she supports then! I'm a SAHM and used to watch LW from time to time, but no more, never again.

HelenaDove · 30/08/2018 21:16

Which mag has been at Stacey then? l only caught it from when they were in the middle of talking about DV

Sleepyshores · 30/08/2018 21:19

It was 'Now' magazine.

HelenaDove · 30/08/2018 21:25

How ironic Thats basically the mag equivilent of LW

obviouslyperfect · 30/08/2018 21:34

Linda Robson was a puppet doing what was expected of her. Shame on her.

Colleen Nolan doing her immature “See?” gestures to the audience was smug and goading.

The other Nolan woman, forget her name, was there for backup, hardly impartial, and unfair as Kim Woodburn didn’t have a sidekick.

Janet Street-Porter sold out. She toed the party line for ratings whilst trying to keep her own arse covered. Didn’t work.

Over 3000 Ofcom complaints. A petition to sack Nolan (change.org) has got over 3500 signatures already.

Think it backfired a bit.

obviouslyperfect · 30/08/2018 21:38

If anyone is interested!

www.change.org/p/itv-studios-global-entertainment-remove-coleen-nolan-from-the-loose-women-panel

Sleepyshores · 30/08/2018 21:42

I agree Obviously yet it seems that ITV are refusing to do anything about it, which makes it even worse. I really hope that the ratings for LW severely drop after this, but somehow I doubt they will. I am really heartened to see how strongly people feel about this on Mumsnet. I thought it was only me, but to see how many people condemn this type of bullying shows me there are still a lot of very decent, compassionate and moral people in this society.

keyboardkate · 30/08/2018 21:47

Now I know why I do not watch this stuff anymore.

Am guessing it is a publicity stunt. But hope those affected are OK. Bet they are.

Sleepyshores · 30/08/2018 21:57

kate I suspect all of them will be ok except Kim Woodburn whom I imagine is definitely not ok.
