@Helena Yes - and ITV had The Time, The Place. Again, proper debates and topics. It's all dumbed down now - TV and womens' magazines.

@9am Not surprised at all.

9amTrain · 30/08/2018 13:29

Colleen's Twitter said she'll be back Monday with a gif saying "everyone has a secret"

the hell?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 30/08/2018 13:30

Oh fuck that, stop making it into a fucking soap LW you self important arses

catherinedevalois · 30/08/2018 13:33

I loved LW at the start Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalla, Jane Moore, Carol McGiffin etc even Kerry Katona. It was women chatting, laughing, giving opinions, listening to others without trying to outdo each other or having to think about how to boost the ratings. Now it's not worth tuning into. JSP should be ashamed of reducing herself to the level of CN and the like. Hope this gets canned now. Also it would be a warning to other producers (especially of CBB) that manipulation of vulnerable people isn't entertaining and won't be tolerated.

SillySallySingsSongs · 30/08/2018 13:33

Has she been pulled from tomorrow then as her son said she was on Fri.

NancyDonahue · 30/08/2018 13:35

Kilroy had excellent debates. And it was real people, not fake celebs.

BBC1 used to have a lot of decent daytime shows. I remember one that was live from a hospital when I was on mat leave. I think it was presented by Gabby Roslin.

RibbonAurora · 30/08/2018 13:51

The complaints are aimed at the wrong target, people need to go after the sponsors/advertisers of the show. They're the ones with the power to put pressure on the producers of the show. Follow the money. Threaten to stop buying their products on their Twitter accounts for as long as they endorse the programmers and they'll be far more effective in getting the show to take some action.

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 30/08/2018 13:52

CN's pinned tweet says just 6 weeks to her big surprise. It was pinned just over 5 weeks ago. I have a feeling this whole thing is publicity related to whatever this is

businessModel · 30/08/2018 14:04

It was awful to watch. Pure bullying.

Toxic femininity. Nasty.

We can blame men and the patriarchy etc but it's so noticable that women can't tolerate each other.

I've always found it fascinating how the male and female teams on The Apprentice act so differently. The women on there are a poison.

HelenaDove · 30/08/2018 14:04

Coleen was on the front of Womans Own a few weeks back. "i lost three stone for Ray"

Message being "lose weight for your man girls"

Yep Really empowering.

NancyDonahue · 30/08/2018 14:07

Any bets on CN's surprise?

'I'm a celeb'?
Facelift?
Leaving LW? (again!)
New man?

ShatnersWig · 30/08/2018 14:10

@Helena That'll be Ray, the second ex husband. When she was proposing sending her son to Amsterdam to sleep with a prostitute, she also "gave permission" for Ray (who was then her fiance) to also have a one-night stand on the same trip.

So, prostitution is fine, allowing your fiance to sleep with someone else as long as they pay for it is fine, gay couples adopting kids not fine.

HelenaDove · 30/08/2018 14:17

YY Shatner Shane Ritchie went up in my estimation when he objected to that.

Re. The Time The Place i remember them devoting a whole half hour show on how More magazine was corrupting young women. Grin

ShatnersWig · 30/08/2018 14:19

@Helena Looking at how things are these days, and that the current crop of LW presenters were probably the right age to read More magazine back then, The Time The Place was probably spot on!

TheQueef · 30/08/2018 14:20

Position of the fortnight Helena the pure filth that was a line drawing.

No wonder society fell. Grin

Snoopychildminder · 30/08/2018 14:23

I know of Stacey (I say that in the loosest sense of the word, she lives locally to me and we always bump into each whilst she is out with her boys and I’m out with all my little ones) she is such a lovely lady, totally incredible mom, really really normal happy person, she wouldn’t have stood for it!

HelenaDove · 30/08/2018 14:25

More was actually quite an intelligent mag back in the 90s I was a More reader. They carried articles about things like low wages and warned that the abolition of the wages councils would lead to employers paying poverty wages. That was in 1993 They were right By 1997 i was seeing jobs in Job Centres that were ÂŁ50 a week , ÂŁ1 an hour etc.

Ppl like Linda Robson would have been too old More was aimed at 18 to 25 year olds. i was 20 in 1993.

HelenaDove · 30/08/2018 14:26

i thought the position of the fortnight cartoons were hilarious.

sorry going off topic now

ShatnersWig · 30/08/2018 14:26

@Snoopy Thing is - and I don't doubt you for a moment - if I was her, and I saw what happened yesterday, I'm not sure I could have gone on the programme today and not said something about it, bearing in mind the topic of conversation she was there to talk about.

Snoopychildminder · 30/08/2018 14:31

shatners yes very good point, I don’t think I could have either. Mind you, we don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes. With that many complaints could they have perhaps been instructed not to mention it for legal reasons...I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️

HelenaDove · 30/08/2018 14:36

over three thousand complaints Thats really shot up since yesterday.

ShatnersWig · 30/08/2018 14:49

I suspect almost certainly been told not to mention it.

I couldn't work with CN after that, personally.

Everyoneiswingingit · 30/08/2018 15:12

I agree Paddington I noticed the 6 weeks till big announcement on Coleen's twitter from 5 weeks ago. Could all be a build up to that and used KW.

MrsJayy · 30/08/2018 15:24

*i thought the position of the fortnight cartoons were hilarious.

sorry going off topic now*

Yes weirdy line drawinings of positions were hilarious.and if you were not a gymnast forget actually getting into themGrin

I didn't see LW today was there anything said?

ShatnersWig · 30/08/2018 15:26

@MrsJayy Absolutely nothing, even though Stacey was there to talk about body shaming and.... bullying.
