Do you prefer living on your own?

Just that really. I made the decision to not live with anyone again except my three DC. I do get the odd Hmm, people feeling "sorry" for me, thinking I'm a loner etc. Please tell me I'm not alone?

Yes! Lived on my own so long I couldn't imagine sharing my space with anyone apart from my son, and I just invested in a man shed to get him out if the house a bit more

RaspberryRuffless · 28/08/2018 18:04

Absolutely love it. It's just me and my son. One of the worst parts about being with ex was living with him! Been on my own for 3 years now.

lidoshuffle · 28/08/2018 18:04

You're not living on your own though, are you? You're living with three other people. (I'm not being snippy Smile, it's just there's a big difference between your situation and actually living on your own).

FASH84 · 28/08/2018 18:05

I really liked living alone, just me and the cat, things were where I left them, the house stayed tidy, I did what I wanted when I wanted, i could haily day 'all back to mine' after the pub without consulting or considering anyone else, twas a wonderful time. I do love DH but it is nice to have the house to myself once in a while...

FASH84 · 28/08/2018 18:05

*happily say

tierraJ · 28/08/2018 18:06

I like living alone but it can get lonely as well

Seniorschoolmum · 28/08/2018 18:07

Yes, at the moment. I’ve one out of a 4 year relationship where he gradually undermined my confidence.
So for now, I am building myself up again, doing all the things I want, to my taste and my price point.
In a year or so I might feel differently but for now, we’re having a lovely time just me & ds, with no-one else fretting for attention.
And it feel great, very relaxed and happy.

Newmenewlife · 28/08/2018 18:10

@lidoshuffle I know, I know I'm not living entirely on my own. But it's amazing how tidy the house is with THREE DC under 7, and the whole atmosphere is so calm and relaxed.

Yes love it. House is paid off, in my name. Freedom. I have a dog and he fantastic company and I love taking him out and going for long walks and meeting people. I have a bf about 15 minutes away and 2 jobs which both involve meeting people so get lots of stimulus. Love it Smile

Glumglowworm · 28/08/2018 18:16

I live alone and I absolutely love it! I’m naturally introverted and I’m happy with my own company.

speakout · 28/08/2018 18:19

Depends on who I am living with!!

I have loved living alone, I have hated living with an unpleasant partner,

Right now I love living with my OH!

EnormousDormouse · 28/08/2018 18:19

I think I have the best of both worlds as I work away from home most of the year and have a villa to myself; then come back to DP for the holidays. I am getting increasingly introverted as I get older and the time spent on my own is glorious.

ilovesooty · 28/08/2018 18:20

Just me and the cat. I love living on my own and no way will I share my home with anyone again.

OpalTree · 28/08/2018 18:20

No. I'm widowed and i preferred living with dh as well as my 2 dc

HushabyeMountainGoat · 28/08/2018 18:22

I think I probably did prefer living on my own than with DH in many ways. The perfect balance was probably when we had a place each and stayed over at whichever was most convenient with a couple of nights apart each week. My house was just as I wanted it and so tidy.

We now live in a bigger house but unfortunately DH came with a dog as an annoying bonus feature and so now my house is always slightly grubbier than i would like.

I miss being able to banish stuff to the charity shop without having to check first too.

happypoobum · 28/08/2018 18:26

Oh gosh yes- I will never live with anyone ever again.

It's heaven. I accept that for people who get lonely easily or aren't content in their own company it must be hard, but I have a very full on job where I am with people all day so coming home to my lovely house and the cat is lovely Grin

Twotailed · 28/08/2018 18:27

I like living with my DH more than anything, but if it couldn’t be him it would be nobody

Itsatravesty · 28/08/2018 18:33

I've spent 10 years living with a man, 10 years living alone and 10 years living with a child. I haven't shared my home with another adult for 20 years and have no intention of doing so ever again. I love living alone, so no it's just you OP.

ShatnersBassoon · 28/08/2018 18:36

I've never lived on my own. From home to shared student houses, to getting a house with DH.

I don't think I'd dislike it on my own, but it would be difficult to adjust to after all of those years of cohabitation.

JacquesHammer · 28/08/2018 18:36

I’m with you OP.

I’ll never live with another partner again. No interest at all.

Once you get past the “never say never” brigade it’s far less irritating.

scoobyd2 · 28/08/2018 18:39

Yep, love living alone - I realised a very long time ago that I was much happier on my own - although it could just be that I have a shit taste in men.. Would like a cat though, unfortunately I've become allergic to them in the past few years, so I just borrow nextdoors now and then for a bit of intelligent conversation, then send her home when I start sneezing.

pigsDOfly · 28/08/2018 18:40

I love living alone - apart from the dog. Couldn't imagine ever living with another person now.

speakout · 28/08/2018 18:40

I like living with my partner, we can share the burden, the finance, the housework.

It makes life easier

JacquesHammer · 28/08/2018 18:41

I like living with my partner, we can share the burden

I don’t have a burden to share Smile

MidLifeCrisis2017 · 28/08/2018 18:43

I love it (except for having no help with changing the duvet cover) but wish I got out more. Fairly rural retirement village with not much going on for us fifty something youngsters.

My married friends all say they envy me, for anything from not sharing a bedroom or bathroom to being able to have flowery curtains!
