sorry I've just cross posted with you. Would you consider counselling of some sort? The pills and counselling might not make you thin or give you friends but if you were to start feeling better about yourself you might be in a better position to do something about that.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 18/08/2018 20:30

Bit that got me was op’s Dp noticed her hair and said ‘ffs get in the shower’
Are we talking greasy locks here?

Moominfan · 18/08/2018 20:33

Squidgee right now it's easy to stay right where you are. It's hard pulling yourself out of a rut. You mentioned ad's taking meds isn't further defeat. I don't mean to hijack and prattle on me me me, I previously have taken ads and they've given me that lift to make changes that I'd never be able to do in the grips of depression. Changing is really hard especially when your feeling low and your sense of self and belief is on the floor. If not your go it might be worth contacting local counselling charities directly. There's usually a waiting list and they ask for donations. But please don't think your not worth the effort x

MarthaArthur · 18/08/2018 20:35

Its totally worth the effort. Maybe take baby steps this weekend. Maybe have a 5 minute shower tonight. Have sunday to do what you want to do. See a gp on monday and remember ADs are not compulsory. Councilling and cbt long term have better effects x

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 18/08/2018 20:36

To take @katielouise3 s point a bit further, is washing after sex a hallmark of good hygiene??

dementedma · 18/08/2018 20:47

I think showering twice a day is obsessive and totally unnecessary.
Same with only wearing clothes once - underwear excepted.

StorminaTCut · 18/08/2018 20:52

For the final time there is nothing obsessive about me having a 3 minute shower before I put my clean work uniform on & there is nothing obsessive about me having a 3 minute shower 14 hours later, before I go to bed.

End of.

blueberrycoconut · 18/08/2018 21:02

Squid, what’s the nature of your disability? Can you share? Flowers

RoseWhiteTips · 18/08/2018 21:05

People say they don’t sweat? That is ridiculous. You sweat.

Metoodear · 18/08/2018 21:08

I am sorry but I wouldn’t have sex with somone who I knew hadn’t washed and you fucking ladies must stink those who don’t wash regular

Especially when in your period or ovulating yuk

DameDoom · 18/08/2018 21:09

For all of those who do a quick flannel wipe every so often, are bidets used or do you all have separate face, pit, fanny and arse cloths? I just direct the shower jet on my fan and use a tiny bit of unscented soap on my actual arse which is jetted off immediately.
I also scrub my short nails as a lot of grot can gather there.

PinguDance · 18/08/2018 21:12

Lol since when do you smell when ovulating?

woodywoo2 · 18/08/2018 21:12

Do YOU think you're dirty?

Squidgee · 18/08/2018 21:13

I dont want to say specifically, but it limits my mobility quite severely.. i'm saving for a wheelchair which its getting to the point of me needing on bad days.

It does contribute to my lack of washing. I cant get in/out of the bath, and standing too long in the shower hurts me.. so its all one big ball of just... its too much hassle most days.

i'm not always this bad... just having a bad patch.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 18/08/2018 21:13

@DameDoom

One fresh flannel
Face > Pits and Bits > Arse

Never the other way round

CanYouSmellThat · 18/08/2018 21:14

I'm a mumsnet minger according to this thread. I certainly don't shower every day (can't be arsed/no time). Recently i've changed my shampoo to a bar soap which means my hair doesn't get so greasy....result, i can go an extra day without showering, if i want. I am a sahm though when i was working, i showered every day - and no, i'm not depressed.
I do wash my hands more than the op though.

YupThatsMe · 18/08/2018 21:15

Sod that. A bath is the only time I get a bit of peace and quiet.

PinguDance · 18/08/2018 21:15

@squidgee Flowers I’m sorry to hear you are having such a bad time. Even if you’re concerned about taking antidepressants sometimes you feel better just talking to someone like a GP - just making an appointment and going can be a step towards self care.

blueberrycoconut · 18/08/2018 21:20

Tell you what squidgee, I’ll shower if you do Smile

My experience with this argument always makes me feel weird. I habe ocd that was pretty severe as a child. Hand washing until my hands cracked and bled severley. Several changes of clothes a day and multiple baths. Part of my recovery from that was not bathing every day. Not changing my clothes unless i spilled on them and only washing my hands after the toilet/if i touched something dirty/before eating. So it does wind me up when people think not showering every day is dirty. Its not. And its necessary for some people not to shower/bath every day. I sink wash every morning/evening brush hair and teeth clean pants everyday.(bra can be worn 2 days as too much washing loses shape.)

And only one flannel needs to be used. Start with face then pits then bits. Thats what i was specifically taught to overcome using multiple flannels/towels.

I am a very clean person.

MarthaArthur · 18/08/2018 21:25

But op. Please please wash your hands and nails more. Wash after every toilet visit even if its a wee. Wash before eating and after dirty tasks like putting out the bin and holding childrens hands. Thats how sickness and worms etc is passed on.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 18/08/2018 21:28

Heads up thread: Depression is not showering for weeks amongst many other much more important things.

Oh? I didn’t realise depression presented the same in everyone Hmm

WaterOffaDucksCrack · 18/08/2018 21:31

StorminaTCut · 18/08/2018 21:36

Grin This whole fucking thread has gone batshit.

Im obsessive by doing that apparently. I will seek help on Monday.

Imchangingmyname · 18/08/2018 21:37
