Was the beach dirty

Squidgee · 18/08/2018 21:46

@blueberrycoconut

I probably will in the morning.. I washed my biggest fluffy towel today so its all snuggly.

I've felt a bit better today than I have for a couple of weeks, so am feeling a bit gross.

StorminaTCut · 18/08/2018 21:51

No it was probably perfectly clean, apart from the dogs that pissed & shat all over it before 07.00 a.m

I love coming home from sitting in 21 degree heat, covered in sand & having dusty feet, from walking to the beach bar in flip flops, not to mention smelling of salty sea water & getting into a clean bed Grin

**

I find that a very quick shower takes less time than standing at the sink having an allover wash so Im also inclined to have more than one a day.

frugalforager · 18/08/2018 21:52

I'm with you on this one. I don't wash my hands very often and I shower and wash my hair twice a week on average. Sometimes I have a quick sink wash if I feel stinky. I don't care what other people's opinions are on MN but I wanted to show some solidarity with the OP. I suspect there are a lot of people out there who do the same but wouldn't ever admit it.

Metoodear · 18/08/2018 21:55

If you don’t wash your lady stinks simples
Even more so when you are on your period of have had the squirts

Gncq · 18/08/2018 22:01

It's really bad for hair to wash it every day. I'm shocked to hear some people are Washing hair twice a day! You hair must be wrecked.

I have v long hair and have trained it over a lifetime to only need washing every 10 days. It is thick, glossy healthy and I often receive comments. I am in my 40s and most my age can't grow their hair. It's because they wash it too much.

I can not not full shower every day. I splash wash every day.

OP don't wash your hair more than you are.

BubblesBubblesBubbles · 18/08/2018 22:02

As little as I can get away with because I’m having an eczema flair up Angry

When my skin is behaving I wash every other day. When’s it’s bad I eek it out for as long as I can. As the water just strips it dry, I try and bath with oats as that sometimes helps. Currently also battling psoriasis on my scalp to, which is rather gross.

Drives me batty as I hate being dirty.

Sheldonoscopy · 18/08/2018 22:08

I’ll hold my hand up and say I’m probably considered a soap dodger by some standards on here.

But I am disabled physically and despite some home alterations being done, my shower hasn’t been installed yet and getting in and out of the bath is either extremely painful and dangerous or impossible.
That, plus I’m a lone parent kinda means I wash daily but can go several days without a bath, sometimes longer. My mh contributes to this and makes it harder when pain isn’t so bad.

My friends offer to come round and help me in and out of the bath but honestly I’m embarrassed. I’m in my 30s, I shouldn’t need assistance in this way

StorminaTCut · 18/08/2018 22:16

People that dont get their hair trimmed reguarly find it hard to grow it, as the ends split.

My hair looks absolutely fine for having 2 shampoos. I dont blow dry the back & sides when it has partly air dried as I put it up for work, I just dry the front fringey bit - 10 seconds.

Citylivingwithdogs · 18/08/2018 22:18

GNCP how have you trained your hair to not smell after 10 days of not washing? It may look okay but I’m sure the sweat, oil, cooking smells, pollution etc would make a scalp smell?

The only thing I think is strange from this thread is, the people that strip wash with flannels in between showers, why not just have a quick shower? It’s so much more pleasant and much easier.

blueberrycoconut · 18/08/2018 22:21

Yeah I’m not keen on the thought of strip washes to be fair.

I’m astounded at all the people jumping in and out of the shower before and after sex! Surely, that kills the moment. My husband would be offended if I hopped out of bed after dtd to run off to the shower. As long as you both are generally clean people, I can’t understand the obessesion with bathing because of sex.

CaptainCucumber · 18/08/2018 22:24

Some of the relplies here are bizarre.

Trailing a fog of stink due to having 4 x showers a week? Hmm

Overzealous germ phobia/cleanliness obsession is chavvy as fuck

StorminaTCut · 18/08/2018 22:28

Waynetta Slob was chavvy Grin

CaptainCucumber · 18/08/2018 22:29
Grin
CaptainCucumber · 18/08/2018 22:30

She probably had two showers a day

StorminaTCut · 18/08/2018 22:35

Two a year week.

Me - "Im just off for a quick shower before work"

Family - "You fucking chav"

Me - "Im just off for a quick shower, after being on my feet for 14 hours in this heat, then off to bed"

Family "You fucking chav"

I had to scroll to the end of the thread bcs I started getting queasy at all the washers.

I'm not a farmer so I don't need to shower every day. I shower as little as I can possibly get away with. If I didn't have to wash my hair I would shower even less.

(Interestingly, when I was having chemo I had the perfect excuse re no hair; also a permanent pic line made showering a pain despite plastic sleeve thing.)

BUT I wash all the important bits every day. Sometimes I don't wash bcs eg I wake up too late but that's rare.

springydaff · 18/08/2018 22:47

But when I had little kids you bet I went days not washing or showering.

cheesemongery · 18/08/2018 22:49

Really? I'm 42 and my hair grows like mad, it's half way down my back now after having a short chin bob cut 18 months ago. I have to wash it daily though as I suffer from hyper hydrosis especially face and scalp. The sweat alone makes it minging.

My DD has very long hair and she is 9, after say 5 days when I give her a hug her hair smells pongy. 10 days would be too much.

defineme · 18/08/2018 22:55

It's really quite a new thing to have a full shower every day, my mum(70) certainly didn't when she gtew up and her mum didn't. I think you sound fine op. My hair is long and dry, so it's better if I only wash it once or twice a week. Brushing your teeth is necessary twice a day. I think wearing freshly washed clothes every day is unnecessary...just pants and socks need changing unless you are very smelly. I just can't get worked up about you showering 4 times a week...there are so many things in the world that are disgusting, that's really not one of them! Washing your hands after the loo is my only issue, you are not the only one using that loo, germs from faeces can cause serious problems, washing hands is important. All that hand gel in hospitals isn't for show. Use a hand cream if you need to.

supadupapupascupa · 18/08/2018 23:08

It massively depends on routine and where you live. Spending time in London dashing about I would shower daily. At home in the countryside as normal twice a week. A daily wash, clean clothes is sufficient. It depends on skin type. I have dry skin, not oily and never smell sweaty.... ever. My hair is very curly/frizzy and likes to washed as little as possible. So this conversation is weird. What’s right for one person in a set of circumstances is completely irrelevant to another.

Gide · 18/08/2018 23:17

Twice a week shower, lots of baths in the winter. I haven’t used shampoo for years, I have very curly hair. I’m lazy, I know. I change knickers first thing and at night, clothes are always clean and fresh. I wash my hands very frequently, but not always after the loo. I don’t actually touch my vulva with my bare hands when wiping, who does?!

I confess, I need to look at my bedding changes more often, I’m not too bothered about frequent changes.

joystir59 · 18/08/2018 23:22

I shower every night before getting into bed. I want to feel clean for my oh.
