Very long story short. Person I know has been claiming benefits for at least 7 years I've known her.
Now this is a case of sour grapes, she misrepresented herself to me and basically used me for all she could get out of me, and me being stupid and gullible and so happy that someone liked me that I gave her everything I could.
I've been stewing on this for months and my mental health has broken down to the point I just can't get out of bed. I have nothing and nobody left.
She is a dog walker/boarder, horse trader and now a scrap metal merchant.
Should I report her or should I just put it down to experience?

Report. Why should we pay for her when she's not entitled to it

kaytee87 · 17/08/2018 18:43

How do you know she's committing benefit fraud? Do you have concrete evidence?

GoblinSharts · 17/08/2018 18:45

If you have evidence then go for it. It’s stealing waits for the MYOB brigade to arrive

Bombardier25966 · 17/08/2018 18:47

What benefits is she claiming, and are you certain she's not entitled?

Why should we pay for her when she's not entitled to it

You don't pay for her. The state does.

glintandglide · 17/08/2018 18:48

You know what, I think people whip themselves into a bitter righteous frenzy over this. Just call the hotline, it’s not big deal.

Flyme21 · 17/08/2018 18:49

Where does the state get the money from? The money tree?

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 17/08/2018 18:49

Just move on. Why try to ruin someone’s life? Leave it.

scrumplepaper · 17/08/2018 18:49

Why has this affected you so much?

LaurieMarlow · 17/08/2018 18:51

You don't pay for her. The state does.

If you're a taxpayer, you pay for her. As you well know.

AuditAngel · 17/08/2018 18:51

If you believe she is claiming benefits that she isn’t Entitled to, report her. There are rules for a reason.

FloydWasACat · 17/08/2018 18:51

Same question as Scrumple...have you lent you money or hurt you in some way? Just trying to work out why her circumstances have affected you to this degree x

NotTheWayISeeIt · 17/08/2018 18:51

Just report it then forget about it. Like a pp said it’s not a big deal.

glintandglide · 17/08/2018 18:52

Well most tax payers don’t pay for themselves, let alone anyone else. Mind you I’m a high rate tax payer. I pay for her. LOL

Hadjab · 17/08/2018 18:52

Obviously we have no idea what she did to you, but you sound quite petty TBH - presumably you’ve known this about her for as long as you be known her, but it’s only a problem now that she’s pissed you off?. Go ahead and report her if it makes you feel better

Strongmummy · 17/08/2018 18:53

Concentrate on sorting your own mental health, not this

LoughingLikeAShark · 17/08/2018 18:53

Report her. Not only is she taking from all of us, she's feeding the DailyFail narrative that benefit claimants are scroungers on the take.

Sorry10 · 17/08/2018 18:54

Yes like others have said call the hotline and forget about it. Don’t be one of those people that are all jealous and bitter I get that you’ve had a tough time but people get what’s coming to them eventually good or bad I genuinely believe that.

LaurieMarlow · 17/08/2018 18:54

I'm not sure what universe people are living in when reporting someone for stealing is described as 'petty'. Confused

Tiredtomybones · 17/08/2018 18:54

Report and park the thoughts, then concentrate on getting yourself well.

Bombardier25966 · 17/08/2018 18:55

If you're a taxpayer, you pay for her. As you well know.

Yep, I know all too well that these threads bring out the nasty benefit bashers that think they pay claimants personally and that said claimants should be accountable to them for everything they do. And the bashers conveniently forget that they've also had thousands from the state themselves, be it through benefits, healthcare, education.

AngelsAckiz · 17/08/2018 18:56

Revenge is not a nice feeling. It will haunt you. Don't do it.

sweetsomethings · 17/08/2018 18:57

Yes report . If someone stole money from your wallet you would report right ? Well benefit fraud is stealing just the same. If not worse cause I dread to think how much money she has received over 7 years. It’s all annoumous now she would never know

Batcrazymum3 · 17/08/2018 18:58

I haven't read all the responses so sorry if this has already been said...

I say report it BUT it won't make you feel better. I'd address why you feel the way you do head on as well as this.

Poloshot · 17/08/2018 18:59

Report the parasite, claiming benefits under false pretences

Munchyseeds · 17/08/2018 19:00

If you believe she is claiming when not entitled report her and then move on.
Don't really understand the mindset that says you shouldn't do it
