To think that instagram has jumped the shark?

I used to really love instagram it as a place to get inspiration, eduction or a point in the right direction to go do some research myself on various topics, but am getting bored of it.

The influencer wars (with some clearly playing the game more than others ), the woke activists who are beginning to believe their own hype (their content becoming about them and how good they are), even the naice art and design accounts that I predominately follow are beginning to be a little lacking.

AIBU to think that insta is in a death spiral? If so (because clearly I have forgotten life before it) where do people find informative and / or creative inspiration outside of it these days. Blogs seem to have died, and facebook is a non starter!

@Rachowl I love her too, she's one of the young (younger than me!) instagrammers I love as they're so full of self confidence and love for themselves. See also - theslumflower, erm I'm sure there's more but I can't think of them! I'm under pressure that the thread is going to go 😄

@coodla thanks for the drag ones. I did follow some but I actually found a lot of them quite bitchy/too commercial so stopped (I think bobthedragqueen is the only one left in my feed) but these are new ones so off of havs a gander.

Ok, well clearly no one is able to post anything referring to the person that can't be mentioned. Strange when so much negativity was previously allowed re various insta accounts in the past. I wonder if it's just this particular person who can't be discussed or if it's a general clampdown on negative comments naming instagrammers.

Re good insta accounts I agree with whoever said search a hashtag then look through the pics and follow any interesting accounts.

We've posted twice on this thread to politely ask that it be kept on topic. We'll continue to delete anything that is an attempt to derail the thread...

We've just deleted a few posts which discussed the state of mind and wellbeing of an Instagrammer. While we generally try to allow discussion of ethics and best practice on Instagram, we hope you'll all agree that it's not really in the spirit to make personal comments about people who have posted vocally about their difficulties. We hope you all understand - we're going to delete posts which refer to this person for now so please do avoid that.

I nearly have 450 I'm following now. The daily Overview looks like must have. And Studio Ghibli.......yes!! We love studio Ghibli in this house, Spirited away, Princess Mononoke, Howls moving castle, yet I never thought to check insta. Thank you Snoopy

Hi @michaelmsnet I did report my own post shortly after the first mention of that person asking if you could change the title or add a comment in the OP to make it clear what the thread was about to try to stop this before everyone piled in ... you seem to have ignored this and then started to delete stuff? It is possible to do something now?

@Sofialemon I haven’t linked it to my Facebook, but I still have a few followers on Instagram from my Facebook. How else would they have found it? I think even if you don’t link it to Facebook, Instagram still suggest people you might know from your contacts list....

Same here @MistressOfTheGarter , love studio ghibli but never thought of following them in insta. I do follow some cute kawaii ones like kawaiitattoo (I think that's it)

For design and art I go to behance or deviantart. Pinterest is great for craft based stuff. There's some nice photography on Instagram but it's cluttered up with crap.

@MistressOfTheGarter maybe I’ll try that with another email and set up a new Instagram account. Although I’ll have to then add all the accounts I currently follow onto it!
