To ask for your “not so Mumsnet” life hacks

While I’m a sucker for great tips to save time on ironing, cut down my cooking times and being a domestic whizz, as it’s friday evening and I’m bored - tell me your more down to earth tips... such as - “carry a spare hairband in a nightclub to help those throwing up to keep hair back, or the best way to get out stains when baby just crapped on your new carpet!

Well ikea sucked balls...there were a group of kids all glued to a tv screen. Mine go ape after tv, so the “childcare” was not worthwhile! Gave the kids an ice cream instead.

TMI but can’t tactical vomit anymore as these days I wet myself when I puke! No idea why and it started happening pre kids .

So my advice is night out sanitary pad even if not on period in case of hysterical laughter, forceful sneezing or drinking too much and puking.

mental The TV at our IKEA is broken. DH pulled the plug out about 5 years ago and no one has figured out how to plug it back in. Major benefit of being married to a Dane is that he has IKEA down.

When my children were primary age, I used to take them to Ikea for an outing. Breakfast first, then they would just wander through opening cupboards, sitting on sofas etc. Would occasionally take my mother as well and the four of them would happily potter for hours.

If you want meals cooked for you, and have older teens in the house,,then get them to,cook a meal, ‘in preparation for leaving home/going to uni’ etc. For the last few weeks, my 18 year dc has averaged two meals a week.

Ditto basic housework, ‘in preparation’!
