Another Tory sex scandal

IJustHadToNameChange · 15/07/2018 00:16

After all the previous publicity.

After all the cautionary tales.

Another man caught sexting.

BBC link This time, it's the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Small Business, MP for Burton and the former Chief of Staff to Theresa May, Andrew Griffiths.

Mirror link He sent over 2000 texts to two of his constituents!! 😱

What goes through their minds?

High position, married with children, great responsibilities and he screws up like this?

AIBU, or should MPs have all correspondence, texts, emails and phone calls monitored?

OP posts:
Disquieted1 · 15/07/2018 00:23

Monitoring the correspondence of elected representatives is perfectly reasonable if the Soviet Union is your bag, otherwise YABU.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 15/07/2018 00:24

How do they find the energy, what with the heat and fucking up the country?

KittyVonCatsworth · 15/07/2018 00:25

Ugh! I detest men who use the Daddy word in this context. He sounds vile and violent. Deeply ashamed my arse. Sorry he got caught more like.

BitOfFun · 15/07/2018 00:26

Really, Disquieted1? You do not think that those who hold public office should be held to reasonable moral standards?

IJustHadToNameChange · 15/07/2018 00:27

Exactly.

Just what goes through thier heads?

This man is paid a lot of money to represent small businesses, is supposed to get more women into senior roles, represent his constituents and this is what he spends his time on.

Just what has he been doing at work all this time?

OP posts:
LipstickHandbagCoffee · 15/07/2018 00:29

Behave yourself op,we live in a liberal democracy not an oppressive state
should MPs have all correspondence, texts, emails and phone calls monitored?no
Mr Griffiths acted inappropriately, he resigned.

PickAChew · 15/07/2018 00:30

Wow. That seat swung. Used to belong to my best friend's very left mum :(

IJustHadToNameChange · 15/07/2018 00:48

He only resigned after the women went to the papers.

He jumped before he was pushed.

OP posts:
LipstickHandbagCoffee · 15/07/2018 00:54

Duh,well it’s unlikely he’ll volunteer the inappropriate texts and spontaneously resign
So I suppose he’s hung in hoping he’ll get away with the carry on

beluga425 · 15/07/2018 06:15

All of that Daddy stuff and the violent sub stuff is really degrading, and someone tased with promoting opportunities for women who secretly wants to givem a "beating". Having said that it does look like a complete stitch up.

It is right that he should resign. Just further underlines how crazy it is that Donald Trump is still very comfortably in office.

Aren't all of our communications monitored anyway?

Copperbonnet · 15/07/2018 06:24

His poor wife. She has a 3 month old baby. Sad

I cannot imagine how that poor woman feels finding this out. I hope she has family and friends to support her.

sashh · 15/07/2018 06:35

Just what has he been doing at work all this time?

Wanking?

He seems to be channeling his inner Joffrey.

annandale · 15/07/2018 06:38

Aren't sex scandals tame these days.

No I don't want anyone monitoring anybody's communications. In order to do what? Remote tasering by drones? What happened to live and let live?

Biologifemini · 15/07/2018 06:42

I just don’t understand how he has the time and energy.
And the wording of the texts.....well he is no poet.
It has outed himself as being a bit thick too unfortunately.
His wife must be furious. At least if you are going to sext be funny and intelligent about it. Rather than creepy and violent.

OrdinaryGirl · 15/07/2018 07:01

'I do not seek to excuse my behaviour and will be seeking professional help to ensure it never happens again.'

'it never happens' ??

He makes it sound like he had an unruly dog that ruined somebody's picnic and now he's agreed to take it to obedience classes. 🤨

Imchlibob · 15/07/2018 07:01

Unfortunately, what floats to the top is often scum.

I don't think monitoring the texts and emails of those at the top is remotely rational as a response. Obviously if they you a channel is being monitored they will use a different me and of communication. Wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. Anyway who watches the watchers? Who would be checking to ensure that the civil servants responsible were all honest and would never take a bribe to accidentally miss noticing something?

No - far better to support a free press and good investigative journalism. If you get all your news for free and never or rarely buy newspapers or subscribe to be able to see behind paywalls then you are making future investigations like this less likely. Even the gutter press contribute value in providing pressure to be honest and moral in public office.

Imchlibob · 15/07/2018 07:03

Weird autocorrect fails above:
Obviously if they know a channel is being monitored they will use a different method of communication

Hangingaroundtheportal · 15/07/2018 07:16

Jesus those texts! Shock

What. A. Pervert.

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2018 07:23

He's sorry he's upset the prime minister and his wife and family. No apologies to the women as far as I can tell

Oblomov18 · 15/07/2018 07:26

Did he honestly not think that this would get out? Come on. A 28 year old barmaid is bound and gagged to go to the papers.

Fitflapflop · 15/07/2018 07:30

The beating one has made me shudder. He should be investigated, incase he really has beat some poor woman during sex in the past.

ScrubTheDecks · 15/07/2018 07:39

Well, he is a cheating sleazebag.

Quelle horreur, man sends texts to women who were already posting ‘racy’ pics. They reciprocate. They willingly send videos of themselves engaged in sexually explicut acts. They accept money for sending more. At no point do they block him or tell him to stop. One of them goes to the papers and no doubt gets paid a load of money for her material.

He was a sleazy guy happy to pay for gratification.
It appears to have been fully consensual.
Whatever you think about it plenty of men and women engage in sub /dom stuff with the man or woman in each re, because they enjoy it, without further implications for their wider lives, it’s private and bedroom specific.

I feel incredibly sorry for his wife, but his main crime (apart from the horrible betrayal of his wife) seems to have been being led by his dick to the extent that he excercised no caution or common sense. So not really a reliable person to have running the country.

But of course we should not be monitoring people’s personal communications.

ScrubTheDecks · 15/07/2018 07:41

Why does he have to apologise to the women? They were sending him texts and videos in return for money. They weren’t unwanted texts, they didn’t block him!

Undercoverbanana · 15/07/2018 07:51

I hope his wife has good friends and family and inner strength and dignity. I really feel for her.

Missbrick1 · 15/07/2018 07:53
  1. How does he have so much time on his hands.

  2. How can someone be so stupid & not think it will come out.

  3. Reassuring that MPs have so much time on their hands & excellent self control.

  4. his poor wife.
