Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Parking situation on my new road.

Dear Mumsnet mods, please can we put this in classics? The diagrams need to be kept for the nation! Wink

We live in a cul de sac, to all intents and purposes, in that it's a lane that finishes next to my house. The "balloon" at the end of the lane is part of my land. We turn a blind eye when people turn round on it but have had to ask neighbours not to park on it in the past, and also to clear their guests' cars off. We've recently had it block paved the same as our drive to try to make it more obvious that it's a private parking place. Just throwing that in, just in case it's a similar set up by you and CF actually does own it.

To answer some of the earlier questions, their work vehicle is branded up it's their own small family run business, though companies house / their website gives a fair bit of background on them which has been interesting to stalk Blush one of their cars MOT expires this month so I'll definitely keep an eye on that.

When all of their cars are at the end it's a squeeze but it doesn't block access to the public footpath behind, there's an old chap in a small mobility scooter who uses it most mornings and he just about gets through (he always pushes in their mirrors though).

I think NNDN rents so I hope she doesn't get in trouble with her landlord.

OP - It looks like a turning circle - is it not?

Either way - so hoping this eejit gets kicked into touch by collective neighbour action.

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 20:38

Nope not a turning circle, our road is pretty much a straight rectangle sorry if that's not clear Blush

🥇 diagram is brilliant! They are CF's. Try knocking again but it doesn't sound like they will be doing anything differently because that's what CF's do. I would start parking on the road if they are blocking you in.
Could you contact the council to see if they could paint a yellow line where the car that blocks you parks?

Cheerio99 · 15/07/2018 20:44

The police really aren’t going to care. I am worried the NNDN might have some damage to her cars in the morning

Ilovemypantry · 15/07/2018 20:46

Oh dear OP this is a difficult situation, what a nightmare! Any regrets about your house purchase? It’s a shame you didn’t see any of this when you were doing your pre-purchase checks.

trojanpony · 15/07/2018 20:48

NNDN should report nasty neighbour and get them towed stat

DesignStatement · 15/07/2018 20:50

I'd try and get double yellows across the end of the road.

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 20:51

No regrets, it's still my dream home - they're just arseholes and I'm not letting them rain on my parade.

I highly doubt they'll call the police. Nothing mores been done/said. I'm tempted to pop in next door to nice neighbours but don't want to seem like a busy body.

I can’t be the only poster who wants you to be a busybody, OP...

Awesome diagrams

Nice next door neighbour is fab!

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 21:02

Cunty neighbour has been in and out to his car pretending to look for things at least 3 times now, he's definitely going to break before NNDNs

RandomMess · 15/07/2018 21:04

Hopefully they will move on somewhere with parking for 6 vehicles!!! Can't believe the didn't check whether the road was actually their private drive or not...

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 21:06

I don't believe for one minute they think the road is theirs, I think they're clutching at straws and trying to intimidate us.

Shamelessly following, your neighbours sound nuts!

MoonsAndJunes · 15/07/2018 21:19

God I love a good parking thread Wink
I'm really sorry you're in this predicament OP. Your neighbours sound horrible.

rednsparkley · 15/07/2018 21:19

Sounds like he's not used to people standing up to him

MoonsAndJunes · 15/07/2018 21:23

'If you create a storm, don't complain if it rains'
I agree, he doesn't like people giving it back.

AlpacaLypse · 15/07/2018 21:30

Huge hugs and xxxs OP hope this all works out.

celebrityskin · 15/07/2018 21:32

Need some coordination with the neighbours so every one is using the road to park on to squeeze them out 👏

RandomMess · 15/07/2018 21:33

Def speak to more neighbours so you can keep the end occupied!

Oldaintallthat · 15/07/2018 21:35

I dont even drive and I'm constantly refreshing this thread

Cunty neighbour. I can even picture him Grin

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 21:36

The last thing I want to do to anyone is make them feel unwelcome on the road but they need to know that what they've been doing is not ok. I didn't plan this with NNDN but we've spoken about it previously and she was saying how fed up they are with cars everywhere.
