Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Parking situation on my new road.

OP, you didn't cause this. You tried to reason with them and they were aggressive. They have given their neighbours no other choice.

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 21:43

I know I know. He's out walking his dog now, up and down the road like normal people do Hmm

what a cf and whats he going to tell the police someones parked in the road wher ei usually do?

yeah theyve got time for that

Firstnameterms · 15/07/2018 21:58

Honestly I would be so angry I would be getting the whole road to park in front of their drives to force those arseholes off!

RallyAnnie · 15/07/2018 22:05

It feels a bit redundant at this stage as you have things well in hand but here is some good advice about dropped kerbs.

Also, fabulous diagrams, excellent work by your NDN and long may it rain on the stormy cunt over the road!!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 15/07/2018 23:32

I DEF think you should pop round to NNDN. You and she could totally bond over this.

Chickenbhunaandoice · 15/07/2018 23:41

Have you downloaded the plans from the land registry and checked any ownership/rights

SD1978 · 16/07/2018 00:41

Did they buy as well or are they renting?

TwoBlueShoes · 16/07/2018 00:55

The thing is, what do you expect to happen long term? How would you like this to be resolved?

Parking threads have escalated quite nastily in the past. Be careful!

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 16/07/2018 01:20

Have they got any front garden they could extend their driveway in to?

SubtitlesOn · 16/07/2018 01:40

Amazing colour co ordinated diagrams SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

If the car on their drive is scorn then if they park across the driveway does that make it hard to get in and out of your driveway? Or is the cul de sac wide enough?

Did the people you got house from say anything about parking?

Or cf neighbour?

JennaTools · 16/07/2018 06:19

I'm hoping that CF neighbours will realise they don't own the road and can't just park where they please. The 3 'spaces' down the end of the culdesac are not spaces at all and no one should park there - which according to other neighbour, no one ever has until this bunch moved in.

One of my friends used to live in a cul de sac with 7 cars (single male), he could fit about 4 on his drive/garage but some were left on the road and he must have driven his neighbours mad. He’s now moved to the countryside and parks them in his garden, his poor wife...

CrazyDaisy2018 · 16/07/2018 07:21

If it continues, maybe contact your local councillor and see it they can help liaise with the council about yellow lines or a resident's permit scheme. It's not a quick process unfortunately but it may be possible.

Someone mentioned that a RPZ might devalue the houses, but I suspect selling a house when a viewer can't access the road or house they're looking to buy will devalue it more!

We had a RPZ added and extra double yellow lines too on our estate as it was becoming a free for all for the local sixth form kids.

Another one tagging on to say how amazing the diagrams are.... and that you should definitely explain to the council that they need to paint double yellow lines to prevent people taking the piss blocking your access.

TwoBlueShoes · 16/07/2018 09:45

I think this is the key point that you need to focus on.

Be aware though that they may start parking in front of other people's houses and taking their spaces, but that is not a problem for you.

If I were you, I'd maybe try for another friendly chat and reiterate that it's illegal to park at the end of the road.

StillNoClue · 16/07/2018 09:48

Personally I would mention that can they stop blocking part of your drive.

Assuming that doesn't get listened to;

Either park on your drive and knock on the door EVERY time they block you in and you want to go out. Same goes for when you get back.

Or

Park outside of your drive on the path so your blocking your own drive IYSWIM.

8 cars! That's bloody ridiculous.... are they all taxed and MOT'd (if not report them) Grin

RandomMess · 16/07/2018 09:57

TBH one car parking like your nice neighbour has is ok - that is the point you need to make. They are blocking access to your drive which is unacceptable!

I love this and the diagrams.

What a total knobhead 😂

Racecardriver · 16/07/2018 10:00

Any updates this morning?

DesignStatement · 16/07/2018 10:12

It must be like living on a garage forecourt! Ridiculous.

Figgygal · 16/07/2018 10:19

They clearly bought that house because they thought they could utilise the extra space at the end of the cul-de-sac and the day they're perfectly entitled to park on a public road but they can have a bit of grace about it and not inconvenience other people

I am so grateful that our house has space for six cars out the front and that's before we use the double garage. Shit little back garden though

JennaTools · 16/07/2018 13:10

Just home from work. NNDN car is gone as is cunty chops. There are now two cars parked at the end of the cul de sac but in the two 'spaces' furthest from me. I've parked over my drive way with the front of my car blocking the '3rd space' at the end.
