AIBU?
I think she looked absolutely ridiculous in that red dress when she greeted Trump at Blenheim palace.

She looked out of place and was perhaps trying to compete with melania trump...obviously a formal event but that dress was a bad choice and didn't suit her AT ALL.
The slit....🙈

If a man had worn a suit that ill fitting I'd be inclined to comment. I can't understand how the people dressing her don't apply the principles that they do to kitting out the men. They were all looking smartly turned out.

She needs to look at the bra fitting threads on here to get herself some support in the bust area. And stop wearing fabrics so synthetic that they appear to be trying to get away from her body.

It's not a sexist thing in this case, I abhor all the royal women knocking threads, but TM has set herself up as some kind of style arbiter (e.g. leather trousers interview) so she is inviting comment.

I'd rather see Angela Merkel in her no nonsense business clothing any day.

VladmirsPoutine · 13/07/2018 06:54

I thought she was very well turned out. Whatever you think of her politics she's doing an impossible job and dealing with incredibly obtuse people and keeping her head barely above water. I reckon you wouldn't last 5 mins doing what she does.

MrsGrindah · 13/07/2018 06:55

OP is your real name John McDonald?!

Amen and often it kitten heels Grinalso she is. Our second lady PM

bumblingbovine49 · 13/07/2018 06:58

Bloody hell. I dislike her politics intensely but if I looked as good as that at 60, I'd be ecstatic. I thought her dress was fab. She does stoop s bit, but I wonder if that has something to do with her bones. Then again she is very tall so maybe it is a habit.

Apart from the slight forward posture, I think she looks great most of the time. I would kill for her legs personally

onalongsabbatical · 13/07/2018 06:59

She's 61, and on the world stage.
How old are you OP and how good would you look in the same circumstances?
I don't like her and I don't share her politics but I thought she looked very impressive and both appropriate for the occasion and slightly edgy. Very hard to pull off.

MrsGrindah · 13/07/2018 06:59

She set herself up as some kind of style arbiter .... because she once wore a pair of leather trousers?! Have I strayed onto a thread set up by DM journalists?!! What a ridiculous thing to say.

She “ set herself up as “ PrimyMinisrer actually and we should be far more concerned about what she does in the role rather than the clothes she wears to do it in.

Toodamnhot · 13/07/2018 07:00

I did notice her dress as I thought she looked striking in it.

IamEarthymama · 13/07/2018 07:01

Having met Jeremy Corbyn obn several occasions I can tell you that he always look perfectly well dressed, in a rather less City suited manner than many male politicians.

Women are scrutinised more severely over their choice of clothes than men. It is one of the ways in which society polices their behaviour. Look at any magazine aimed at women from the horrid 'celeb' editions that rip into women for having bodies that don't meet some arbitrary standard to see what I mean. Others tell women what make-up, lotions, potions, fillers, hair products will make them less likely to fail that test. High fashion lauds a look that most women out of adolescence would be unable to replicate.

I dislike May's policies with absolute loathing but as a human I feel sorry for her. Whoever advises her on clothes etc doesn't like her at all. There must be a style that would suit her but we don't see it.
And I agree with the poster who says she doesn't look healthy at all.

I think she should resign and have a good rest on her millions. It would do us all good.

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/07/2018 07:02

I think she looked better than Melania, which is saying something because Melania usually looks amazing.

Anyway, I don’t think TM’s wardrobe is going to make or break this country. That would be Brexit.

ProperLavs · 13/07/2018 07:03

I liked her dress. I cam't stand her politics but I liked her dress.

Toodamnhot · 13/07/2018 07:04

There’s a thread on style and beauty about how fabulous she looked.

TokyoSushi · 13/07/2018 07:05

YABVU, what a bitchy thread to start

P3onyPenny · 13/07/2018 07:05

Why does she have to support her bust more? That is just ridiculous. The country is in the shit and you worry about bra support. Maybe she focuses on comfort and not a magazine view of how the bust area should look.

If you really think picking outfits apart appearance is the priority focus on the orange skin, straw hair, hideous suits of Trump or the car crash that is Boris in a suit.

maxthemartian · 13/07/2018 07:05

I thought that the bright orange racist buffoon accessory was the worst part of the outfit.

AynRandTheObjectivist · 13/07/2018 07:06

Why would anyone compete with Melania Trump? Look at what you'd be looking to gain. God, what if you actually won?

Honestlyhelpful · 13/07/2018 07:06

I can’t believe you’d even comment on her clothes - you certainly wouldn’t have if she was a man. Personally I though she looked lovely but she was there in her role as PM, not for a vogue photo shoot Angry

I think she looks great. Good on her to be daring knowing there are judgemental people like you about

FabulouslyFab · 13/07/2018 07:08

I thought PM May looked great whereas Melania just looked overdressed in her yellowness.

P3onyPenny · 13/07/2018 07:08

But of course Boris isn't around to comment on having legged it again when the going gets tough.

Maelstrop · 13/07/2018 07:09

Thought it was ok, actually. Split is for ease of walking.

Does she have spinal problems? She walks oddly, like she’s in pain.

sparklefarts · 13/07/2018 07:10

Ignoring the fact this thread is ridiculously horrible and sexist...I don't actually see a problem with the dress! I think it's alright

MiniTheMinx · 13/07/2018 07:10

I don't much care what she looks like, I'm more concerned that she is quite hopeless at negotiation.

sparklefarts · 13/07/2018 07:10

And I am very much not a Tory
