AIBU?
I think she looked absolutely ridiculous in that red dress when she greeted Trump at Blenheim palace.

She looked out of place and was perhaps trying to compete with melania trump...obviously a formal event but that dress was a bad choice and didn't suit her AT ALL.
The slit....🙈

I do think TM does dress very well most of the time. I particularly like her line of very smart power suits. Dont you think her OH looks like Arthur Askey?

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2018 07:32

Why do you th ink she was competing with melania? She's the prime minister!

Andromeida59 · 13/07/2018 07:33

I absolutely detest Theresa May but am sick of the comments about what she wears. She's the PM FGS. Commenting on her clothing is just misogynistic.

brizzledrizzle · 13/07/2018 07:33

I haven't meant to offend anyone this morning but I am allowed to share my opinion on the dress.
I am simply stating that I think it was a poor choice and not particularly flattering.

Then put it in Style and Beauty where it's more suited to discussing the fluffy issues rather than AIBU which gets rather heated? That isn't meant to be derogatory. I'm a little short of fuse this morning. Sorry

MarshaBradyo · 13/07/2018 07:34

The dress is a dress nothing much to say about it, who cares

The bigger problem is if US leave the UK in the lurch over the current Brexit deal

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 13/07/2018 07:36

Melanie Trump is 48, so not 30 years younger.

I like Theresa May's dress. But I have no real sense of style.

Dressing well is not part of the job description for PM. Whereas I presume it is for Melania.

French2019 · 13/07/2018 07:37

Bloody hell, I'm no Teresa May fan at all, I can't stand her. However, wtf does it matter what she was wearing?! Why is it that female politicians have to put up with this type of scrutiny?

I'm not even going to comment on the dress either way. Let's focus on the politics.

strawberrisc · 13/07/2018 07:40

Isn’t it wonderful how us woman all support each other OP?

Jeippinghmip · 13/07/2018 07:41

I liked her dress. It was very elegant and it suited her.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 13/07/2018 07:43

Who cares about her dress? Nothing wrong with it and she’s not paid to be a clothes horse.

It’s her bloody politics I object to.

headinhands · 13/07/2018 07:43

Argh. Was listening to commentary on radio when they arrived at Stansted. I was told exactly what The First Lady looked like. Nothing about Trumps appearance. It pisses me off.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 13/07/2018 07:45

This is why women aren't taken seriously. I judge her on her politics, not her clothes choices. People don't start threads like this about male politicians.

Yes, Trump gets some stick for his hairstyle but no-one starts an AIBU about that, the threads on here re Trump are about his politics, the danger he poses etc etc.

I'm all for people giving their opinions on the Brexit deal, welfare reforms, the NHS and other Tory policies but TM's dress????

So, OP, YABVVVVU.

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2018 07:46

I don't agree that as women we all need to support each other no matter what.
I agree that the least important part of these few days is what they're all wearing.
But I do like the dress if asked. Haven't seen melania and I can't comment on what trumps wearing because my view can't get past his irritating face

user1471426142 · 13/07/2018 07:46

She looks entirely appropriate. She isn’t there as a model or to be eye candy. She picked a suitable dress for a formal occasion and looked nice. What she says and what she negotiates will be far more important than how she looks (i.e a total constant to most of women we see in the media whose role is to look nice). The only thing I was wondering about was the visible patch on her upper arm- I was intrigued by what it was.

She was probably hating the fact she had to be nice to the orange one and thinking about what the hell she was going to do if he did something inappropriate while trying to walk in massive heals.

Notquiteagandt · 13/07/2018 07:46

I wouldnt care if she was wearing a bin bag. If it got the job done!

In fact if she was o.t.t. groomed. I think id question her use of time.

Lycanthropology · 13/07/2018 07:48

Oh bog off with this sexist crap. Why are successful women in the spotlight always torn down? Depressingly, it's generally by other womenHmm

toolazytothinkofausername · 13/07/2018 07:48

I love the red dress she wore! She looked great!

henpeckedinchief · 13/07/2018 07:49

I loathe Theresa May but 1) don't see the issue with the dress at all and 2) guarantee you wouldn't have made any similar comments about a man

Peregrina · 13/07/2018 07:52

Having to deal with the revolting Trump

Which she could have avoided by not rushing to invite him, as she did.

Shumpalumpa · 13/07/2018 07:52

what she looks like is completely fucking irrelevant, you idiotic, sexist, shallow dinosaur.

This

OP, her dress is fine. Why don't you share a picture of what you look like so we can bitch about you?

Jeippinghmip · 13/07/2018 07:53

I didn’t like the yellow dress at all.

nuttynutjob · 13/07/2018 07:56

I don't share her views on politics and I disagree on your misogynistic views.

Metoodear · 13/07/2018 07:58

user1471426142

My be somthing to do with her being deabetic

Lweji · 13/07/2018 07:59

I really like the dress.

I do think she tends to show too much skin in formal occasions, but can't be arsed thinking it for more than a second or two.

As for her posture, she may well have a spine curvature and she may not be able to look straight without surgery.
It would have had to be addressed when she was growing and still no guarantees.

I have spine problems and could never look as straight as Melania no matter how much exercise I do.
