Pissed off with colleagues comment about my food?

Friday and colleagues decide to go buy breakfast from the canteen, ask if I want to go, I say no thanks I’m just going to have my shake.

Colleague replies “mmm nutritious”

Yes much more nutritious than the giant breakfast cob you’re going to stuff in your mouth.

I like a protein shake after the gym, I still eat 3 good meals each day.

Ignore, ignore, ignore.

Skydiving · 29/06/2018 21:53

Non issue

restingbemusedface · 29/06/2018 21:54

A shake isn’t nutritious though? No matter what you believe about protein shakes....

Pebblespony · 29/06/2018 21:54

It wouldn't bother me to be honest.

Oly5 · 29/06/2018 21:55

I agree it’s a non issue

pasturesgreen · 29/06/2018 21:55

And...?

Mum2jenny · 29/06/2018 21:56

Eat wtf you want, ignore all others. It may not be healthy but everyone must die sometime irrespective of eating habits

Singlenotsingle · 29/06/2018 21:56

Colleague obviously thought you were being a bit holier than thou. A protein shake sounds quite healthy actually. Would Slimming World approve?

fieryginger · 29/06/2018 21:57

Water off a ducks back. Don't let it bother you.

Passthecake30 · 29/06/2018 21:57

Whatever.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/06/2018 21:57

A. It was just a jokey throwaway comment. Not a personal slur

B. They're right.

Obviously you feel very strongly about your shake but I think you should unclench.

Are you still pissed off now after a throwaway comment this morning? Crikey!

monkeysox · 29/06/2018 22:00

I honestly don't get why people have those things. Why not just have some food?

NorthenderNamechanger · 29/06/2018 22:01

Are you getting enough carbs? Because you sound angry.

genuine carb rage sufferer here

Seriously though, that is a non issue.
You come up against all sorts of weird attitudes when you are trying to live healthily. Ignore, ignore, and carry on.

Lindy2 · 29/06/2018 22:01

Crikey - are you usually so easily annoyed?
Perhaps you are hangry and need a more substantial breakfast. 😂

LuxeLisbon · 29/06/2018 22:01

Well I’m more annoyed because it’s been the odd comment like this all the time.

She’s a lot bigger than me, which is irrelevant but she has made no secret of the fact she wants to lose weight. I’d never dream of commenting on her food choices.

LaContessaDiPlump · 29/06/2018 22:03

She's probably jealous that you're making healthier food choices than her. Ignore.

LuxeLisbon · 29/06/2018 22:04

honestly don't get why people have those things. Why not just have some food?

I do eat food. But I like to have a shake after a workout. I go to the gym at 6am. It helps me hit my macros and my muscles recover faster.

I still have a breakfast.

argumentativefeminist · 29/06/2018 22:05

I think a "no thank you but have a nice time" would have sufficed. Maybe you're mentioning them more than you think and it's pissing her off? Some of this attitude you have towards her is definitely going to be coming across even if you dont intend it to.

LuxeLisbon · 29/06/2018 22:10

no thank you but have a nice time

A nice time in the work place canteen for a breakfast they will then eat at their desks .. Confused

OP posts:
Derwent19 · 29/06/2018 22:10

What you have for breakfast is non of her business. Work colleagues should keep those sort of comments to themselves. It isn't the biggest issue you will ever face, and I wouldn't make a fuss about it, but you are justified in being annoyed by it.

clumsyduck · 29/06/2018 22:13

You'd need counselling if you worked at my place 😂

SirGawain · 29/06/2018 22:14

It helps me hit my macros. Hit your whats?

MrsGrindah · 29/06/2018 22:15

Stealth boast

adaline · 29/06/2018 22:15

Yeah, because that's not a judgemental statement at all Hmm

usernamefromhell · 29/06/2018 22:16

Life's too fucking short to worry about shit like this.
