Those thin ribbons inside clothes

That tend to be near the armholes.

Am I meant to cut them off, or just hope they stay tucked inside my cardi or dress?

I am sure adults are meant to know this sort of thing already so Iabu not to know.

to hang up clothes?

ThePencil · 16/06/2018 22:06

Aren't they to help you hang the thing up? You loop them over the hanger so your clothes don't fall off.

hidinginthenightgarden · 16/06/2018 22:06

They are to help hang your clothes. Up to you if you want to remove them.

afreshnewname · 16/06/2018 22:06

They are to keep your clothes on hangers nicely, if you hang things keep them, if they drive you mad snip them out Smile

Akire · 16/06/2018 22:07

Cut them out, get decent hangers and things don’t fall off. They are impossible keep inside tops and just make you look untidy.

SachaStark · 16/06/2018 22:07

You are supposed to use them to ensure your clothes stay on the hanger.

I can't stand seeing them sticking out of anybody's clothes, they ruin an outfit. I cut all mine out the moment I buy a piece.

LilMadAgain · 16/06/2018 22:07

I fold everything so don't need them, off they fuck. ✂

EatTheChocolateTeapot · 16/06/2018 22:07

YANBU, I think it is to secure the clothes on their hangers but have personally never used so I cut them off if they tend to pop out.

Littletreefrog · 16/06/2018 22:07

They are to keep the clothes on the hangers in the shop. You tend not to need them as much at home and I always cut them off otherwise they tend to stick out of the neck hole half way through the day.

steff13 · 16/06/2018 22:07

A lot of my tops and dresses have wide necks, so they're a blessing to keep things on the hangers. But you can cut them out if you like.

The3 · 16/06/2018 22:08

Mmm, yes, I think they’re used to make stuff hang nicely in the shop. Am I meant to keep them? Seems overkill to use them if the dress or cardi is fine on a hanger without.

But are you saying the answer is “keep them”?

If you don't like the strings inside then just cut them off and if the garment is difficult to hang just use flocked velvet style hangers.

reddressblueshoes · 16/06/2018 22:08

They're for the hangers in shops: you're supposed to cut them off

ChristmasTablecloth · 16/06/2018 22:08

I cut them off. Never had cause to deploy them. If I have something that might slip off, I put it on a velvet hanger.

My dd used to use them as ribbons for her Barbies and Little Ponies.

The3 · 16/06/2018 22:09

Hurrah for so many grown ups all in one place! I hadn’t dared to amputate them previously as I thought it might compromise the integrity of my fashion items Grin

They’re the hanging loops, and I always cut the off as I find them annoying and my clothes hang perfectly well on hangers without the,

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 16/06/2018 22:10

Unless the item is slippery with a wide neck, I cut them out.

Minta85 · 16/06/2018 22:10

*them, not ‘the’!

KittyVonCatsworth · 16/06/2018 22:11

Cut the annoying feckers off and get decent hangers!

The3 · 16/06/2018 22:13

Oh my days! I feel so liberated! I shall embark on a purge, ladies, and free myself of these loopy encumberances. Huzzah!

Cut the annoying buggers off! They are useless-just do it carefully and not make a hole in your top!Grin

OpiningGambit · 16/06/2018 22:15

I snip them and stick them in my sewing box!

NainAGP · 16/06/2018 22:15

I cut them off and keep them, some I've used to sew on to skirts I've bought which had no loops of their own. Others have unexpectedly turned out to be of interest to small children, I put them in an old zipped pencil case to keep safe and they were discovered by a toddler and kept him busy for quite a while. Who knew?

MyNameIsNotSteven · 16/06/2018 22:17

You've been told fairly comprehensively that it's up to you. Why are you asking permission a second time. You're overthinking this Grin I have been snipping the fuck out of all mine this week.

The3 · 16/06/2018 22:18

Person who is not Steven this is crossed posts: I get it that they’re for taking out Grin
