Those thin ribbons inside clothes

That tend to be near the armholes.

Am I meant to cut them off, or just hope they stay tucked inside my cardi or dress?

I am sure adults are meant to know this sort of thing already so Iabu not to know.

I ALWAYS cut mine off, they creep out otherwise or garott your armpit

BuffyandHen · 16/06/2018 22:19

I don’t like them and snip them out

Usuallytootiredbuthappyanyway · 16/06/2018 22:19

You are meant to cut them out and store them in a sandwich bag to pass on periodically to a textiles teacher. At least...that’s what a lovely friend of mine does! 😁

keyboardkate · 16/06/2018 22:32

They are a means to prop up the sewing box of those who craft. They use them for making ribbons for gifts or something. Good luck to them.

They are cut off here the minute they are out of the bag. And straight in the bin. I have enough crap and clutter thanks very much.

MumofBoysx2 · 16/06/2018 22:33

They drive me nuts. Unless they fall off a hanger without them I cut them straight off!

PeaPodPopper · 16/06/2018 22:35

I cut them off, but if a top then slips about on the hanger in my wardrobe, I use a couple of soft grip pegs instead, one on each side.

Freetogo · 16/06/2018 22:37

Where do they end up?

Do you think they all meet up & make a rainbow over the landfill?

MinesaPinot · 16/06/2018 22:39

They drive me up the wall so I always cut them off.

CristalTipps · 16/06/2018 22:40

I cut them too, I thought you were meant to! They don't stay put inside the clothing and it would look messy. I assumed the loops were just there just to make clothes shops tidier.

Tara12 · 16/06/2018 22:41

They are just for keeping them on hangers IN THE SHOP folks. Not at home. Cut them.

shiklah · 16/06/2018 22:43

I once snipped then off a summer top only to see I'd cut off the fucking straps! What. A. Dick.

GratedCarrotStick · 16/06/2018 22:44

My great aunt was adamant that she was suppose to put her arms through them 🙈😔

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 16/06/2018 22:44

I cut ‘em off. They drive mad seeing them peeking out from garments.

Zoflorabore · 16/06/2018 22:45

I always snip them out, they irritate the life out of me Smile

mothmother · 16/06/2018 22:46

Total tangent, but it's a bugbear of mine: you're meant to cut these stitches off too

LanaorAna2 · 16/06/2018 22:47

They are there to humiliate you in a big meeting by popping out as you make the key point.

Bagadverts · 16/06/2018 22:52

I would cut them of as they are very annoying. However I'm disabled and not dexterous enough to cut without leaving scrappy ends that itch.

CassandraCross · 16/06/2018 23:03

They are irritating little buggers I cut them out immediately, usually end up chopping out the labels in the side seams as well as they are scratchy.

neveradullmoment99 · 16/06/2018 23:03

I always cut them off. I hate them.

Jaxhog · 16/06/2018 23:07

Get decent hangers and cut them off!

TamzinGrey · 16/06/2018 23:07

I hate them and usually cut them off except for wide necked things when I loop them over the hanger.

Anyone here got any tips for keeping wide necked tops on hangers without the use of the bastard little loops ?

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/06/2018 23:09

Snip 'em! Vile things. Can't stand seeing them poking out of people's tops. Buy padded or velvet hangers so your stuff doesn't slip off them. Job done.

And while we're at it, yes to mothermother's tangent, drives me mad as well. And sewn-up pockets on jackets. CUT THEM, FGS.

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/06/2018 23:10

mothmother, sorry!

SoftBallSophie · 16/06/2018 23:11

Cut them off.

Can't understand why people walk around with them hanging out their clothes....just shabby, like chipped nail polish.

BertieBotts · 16/06/2018 23:12

They annoy the fuck out of me.

I got some maternity clothes handed down recently, some of them have plastic ones in. Apparently DH didn't notice and proceeded to iron them onto the top Grin luckily it just brushed off. I had to explain what they are and insist that if he notice any more he just cut them out immediately.

Apparently men's clothes don't have them, who knew?
