Those thin ribbons inside clothes

That tend to be near the armholes.

Am I meant to cut them off, or just hope they stay tucked inside my cardi or dress?

I am sure adults are meant to know this sort of thing already so Iabu not to know.

H&M used to do a single one across the back, that wasn't so bad, it didn't hang out at all, but they have stopped that now and reverted to annoying double ones like everywhere else.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 16/06/2018 23:17

I cut the fuckers off otherwise they sneak out and dangle out of the arms like pathetic looking bra straps.

However I have pair of very old (8 years) trackie bottoms that still have a plastic label on string attached on the inner waistband, I'm keeping it on there as long as I can for a personal bet.

ToeToToe · 16/06/2018 23:22

I cut them off.

Myotherusernameisbest · 16/06/2018 23:24

They are cut off along with the tags in this house. I used to keep them to 'use for something' but I outgrew that madness and now just shamelessly bin them.

Yumyumpigs · 16/06/2018 23:26

Cut them out then you can tie them round your pony tail so your hair matches your outfit!

myusernameisnotmyusername · 16/06/2018 23:26

I've got a set of pyjamas and in the bottoms there are no less than four of those fuckers Hmm

Sugarhouse · 16/06/2018 23:29

The little buggers drive me mad I chop them straight off

adayatthebeach · 16/06/2018 23:34

They are stretchy plastic in cheap clothes of course get rid.

WeeDangerousSpike · 16/06/2018 23:38

I cut them out and use them to hang xmas baubles rather than the ugly wire paperclip hangy things

Lalliella · 16/06/2018 23:40

You’re a grown-up. Can you not make your own decision about this?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 16/06/2018 23:41

Well, I retain the ribbon. Useful when hanging item and up

SleepIsForTheWeek · 17/06/2018 00:01

How funny that you should post this tonight. I always cut them off straight away but tonight I went out with a group of (7) friends and every single one of them had them hanging out of their tops! They all looked so lovely and had all made an effort to dress up but they all had these thin ribbons hanging out around their necklines or under their armpits!

InsomniacAnonymous · 17/06/2018 00:14

OP, it's up to you isn't it? If you find them useful for keeping some things on the hanger keep them on those things. If they're always a nuisance or not necessary on everything, cut them out of the things you don't need them on. Why is it beyond you to work this out for yourself?

HourglassTigger · 17/06/2018 00:15

Cut them off They chorus ...
Well you may try, but mind those feckers grow back.
I snip them off religiously. At point of purchase. And again whilst folding after doing laundry. And in front of mirror before going out. And again in front of mirror while I'm out.
One of life's nagging mysteries.
See life's just not as simple as cut them out

ToeToToe · 17/06/2018 00:35

Hourglass Grin It's like a horror film - they come back Grin

I remember seeing a woman interviewed on TV with one of those ribbons sticking out of her top and dangling down her neck.

Those feckers get cut off straight away in my house...

CaveDivingbelle · 17/06/2018 07:35

we are forever tucking them back into clothes on each other at workGrin. I have started snipping them to use on tying up little gift bags....off my own clothes I mean, not chasing other folk with scissorsGrin

Clionba · 17/06/2018 09:04

Cut them off! I'm joining the chorus because they annoy me so much.
As others have said, they're to keep the clothes on the shop hangers.
It looks unkempt when they're on show.

sexnotgender · 17/06/2018 09:07

These drive me crazy!
I cut them off all my clothes, they are pointless and irritating.

DragonNoodleCake · 17/06/2018 09:11

Get felt covered hangers - nothing slides off. Then snip away.

The3 · 17/06/2018 11:09

You’re supposed to cut open the sewn-up pockets???? Seriously Shock? I thought that they were sewn shut to ensure that the garments hung better

OP posts:
BarryTheKestrel · 17/06/2018 11:12

I cut them off except for on dresses that would hang without them, then I tuck them into my bra/ wrap around bra strap which tends to keep them in my clothes.

UnnecessaryFennel · 17/06/2018 11:15

But they're pockets. They're for putting things in. Sewn-up pockets are like some horrible practical joke.

Didn't you know that pockets are a feminist issue? Grin

JaceLancs · 17/06/2018 11:19

Cut them off
I keep them in my sewing box - they are useful for all sorts of crafts including hanging baubles on my Xmas tree

elQuintoConyo · 17/06/2018 11:29

Cut them off and send them to me! I'm a sewer and use them for all sorts of things.

My 6yo son also uses them to create car parking spaces for his cars, pretend flames shooting out of Lego houses, glued onto birthday cards etc.

Not to mention their usefulness at Winterfest* time.
