She famously said a million pounds wasn’t a lot of money and boasted of collecting houses like other people collect art.

If you think that was big-headed, brace yourself – because Catherine Zeta-Jones says she’s had enough of being modest.

The Welsh star, who is married to Hollywood legend Michael Douglas, says it is high time she stops apologising for her £200million fortune, stunning looks and Oscar-winning talent.

Catherine, 48, says: “One thing I’m not is humble any more. I’m sick of being humble. I really am. ‘So sorry I’m rich, so sorry I’m married to a movie star, so sorry I’m not so bad looking.’

“No sorrys. Enough. All that is important to me now is my work.

On one hand I say good for her, on the other it comes across as twatty.

I'm in the good for her camp.

Why should she have to be modest. She's loaded and gorgeous, why not just own it.

toolonglurking · 15/06/2018 09:11

I don't know her on a personal level so as far as I'm concerned, when it comes to being humble, she can do and say as she pleases.

Jaxtellerswife · 15/06/2018 09:13

Good for her. She's come a long way and has had struggles with mh so if she's happy then, great

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 15/06/2018 09:13

Self-promotion is the new modesty, I believe. She's only embracing current mores.

Amanduh · 15/06/2018 09:15

So she can be proud of what she’s got, good. I’m sick of luvvies pretending they care about normal people whilst preening in their million dollar mansions and pretending they’re just like us.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 15/06/2018 09:16

Hmm. I think i'm in the fair enough camp too. She shouldn't have to apologise for being successful. Men don't have to.

Dungeondragon15 · 15/06/2018 09:17

She doesn't need to be modest but I suppose the joke is that she never was!

BollywoodQueenie · 15/06/2018 09:17

I actually agree with her. Its often other people's jealously that people watch out for but why should They? I have a nice life not perfect but nice and I've worked hard for that.

MrsJayy · 15/06/2018 09:18

I don't think she was humble was she ? Not that her confidence bothers me she is an actress they feed off attention she hasn't worked for a while these comments are her attention fix

TuTru · 15/06/2018 09:19

Equallyits not nice to gloat, but she is a beautiful woman she shouldn’t be ashamed for it either xx

RedDwarves · 15/06/2018 09:19

I'm also in the "good for her" camp.

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 15/06/2018 09:20

I met her once. She was absolutely lovely.

SaucyJack · 15/06/2018 09:21

She's bipolar isn't she? I wonder if she's hypomanic when she starts up on these little rants.

ofshoes · 15/06/2018 09:22

I imagine she has to have sex with Michael Douglas though so swings and roundabouts

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/06/2018 09:24

I don't recall her ever being modest humble or apologetic. She's always been the complete opposite ridiculously full of herself and one of those acts like she's doing you a favor by being on TV.
All this about her stunning looks. She's a beautiful woman I'm not and I can't take that away from her. However I've had far far more attractive women serve me in McDonald's. I think she's over rating herself to be perfectly honest

ResistanceIsNecessary · 15/06/2018 09:24

I think there is a difference between being secure in your accomplishments and boasting. I don't think that a woman should ever have to apologise for her achievements - and as a sex we tend to be socialised to play them down.

FTRT · 15/06/2018 09:26

Well done that woman!

I also never say sorry for my life style.

Your life not as good as mine? Tough.

Suck it up buttercup - or do something to improve YOUR own life.

nolongersurprised · 15/06/2018 09:27

She had to put up with MD stating that he probably got his throat cancer through oral sex as well.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 15/06/2018 09:27

Saucy She may have Bipolar, but we wouldn't say that she is Bipolar as it is thought to be defining someone by a diagnosis when really, there are many aspects of ourselves and i'm sure we wouldn't like to be defined solely by one.

LeahJack · 15/06/2018 09:27

Yes, it might well be her bipolar. I know her brother vaguely and he is very nice if a bit crackers and from what I’ve heard of the family they are well liked in Swansea.

I much prefer the attitude to all the other masses of actors who have tremendous wealth and show it off then try and pretend they’re in solidarity with the workers unless they suggest redistributing their wealth or that they should pay more tax. At least she is honest. And she has worked for it. Post Weinstein we know that might not have been an altogether pleasant experience too.

MrsJayy · 15/06/2018 09:28

Michael Douglas is so sleazy his horrible films gave me the creeps especially Disclosure

Tambien · 15/06/2018 09:28

Men don’t need to aplologise for being rich or beautiful or to be married to a rich woman.
So why should she??

I think it’s totally different from being humble actually. But thats a Different Issue.

Juells · 15/06/2018 09:29

I think she's right, why should she be modest?

I doubt many people would envy her her 'movie star husband' though 😝
