To feel hungover 4 days later?

Posting for traffic!

I went out with colleagues on Friday night, first night out in a long time and got a bit mad with it.

Didn't eat much before hand so expected to feel rough but I'm still feeling awful 4 days on?

I've taken gavison, paracetamol, ibuprofen, drank gallons of water and still feel sick and my head is pounding.

DP has (scarily) suggested that I could have had my drink spiked but surely it wouldn't affect me still 4 days after? Surely a hangover shouldn't still be going either! Also on the pill and just finished period so very unlikely to be PG.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Sad

Getting old? Takes me a few days to feel better after a big night out now that I’m over 40

narkedwithanarc · 22/05/2018 14:01

@Deshasafraisy I'm 24, still youngish yet! Grin

Gone down with a bug, caught on your night out, coinciding with then continuing after the hangover?

SaucyJack · 22/05/2018 14:02

It's incidental to your drinking, but the air pressure is a bit weird at the moment. We need a big storm to clear it.

narkedwithanarc · 22/05/2018 14:06

I do hope it's just a bug! Should I see a GP or just a waste of my/their time?

I agree about the weird air pressure too, it's oddly humid here and it's usually pretty breezy.

Did you bang your head at all? I felt like this after a night out when I was younger (lasted about a week) turns out I had over enthusiastically opened a door, headbutted it, and had given myself a concussion

Unsureneighbour · 22/05/2018 15:16

My sister had this. Terrible hangover for a week. She felt better about 9 months later... Wink

OhDearMavis · 22/05/2018 15:16

POAS?

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/05/2018 15:23

Migraines? Alcohol can trigger them.

narkedwithanarc · 22/05/2018 15:25

@Sweatymoose I did actually smack my face off the floor...Grin nose took the brunt of it though and it's fine now!

Not going to POAS though, as how likely is it?! I'm on the pill and just finished my period today. If I convince myself there's a chance, I'll be disappointed!

Runs in our family. My sis and I have an intolerance to the tannins , histamines and sugars in wine. In our early 20s both of us had migraine style headaches or days of retching until we figured it out. Spirits were even worse.
Eventually I learned to drink wine just 10 per cent proof or less and now basically stick to beer or lager.
My 21 year old has the same intolerance.
So 'go low' or keep a bucket by your bed... Wink

Scribblegirl · 22/05/2018 15:30

I've got a virus at the moment which is manifesting exactly like a hangover, I genuinely think there's something doing the rounds. I battled through work on Monday feeling madly guilty until DH pointed out that, given I hadn't been drunk on Saturday or Sunday, it was unlikely... still feeling like rubbish and working from home today.

bumble908 · 22/05/2018 15:31

I knew a girl who was surprised she was still hungover 3 days after her hen do... turned out she was pregnant.. any chance?

bumble908 · 22/05/2018 15:39

Sorry missed the post about the pill Blush sounds slim in that case..

Peakypush · 22/05/2018 15:54

Do a test just to be sure. I always get bad hangovers but was bewildered why it was still there 3 days later after a friends 30th. Turns out I was pregnant. Spent months worrying that I had damaged my baby. She's almost two now and is perfect!

isthismylifenow · 22/05/2018 16:00

I had this. I even posted here about it. 5 days after the binge of mixing red and white wine I was so ill, I couldn't stop vomiting and hadn't eaten in all that time. I had such a bad kidney infection. Now every time I have red wine, I have a flare up

Hmm

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Try some energy drinks to replace electrolytes.

GrandTheftWalrus · 22/05/2018 16:05

My 3 day hangover is having a nap right now!

I don't get hangovers and had one on the Saturday and the sunday. Went to work on the Monday still feeling grotty to the point I was sent to the first aid room to sleep.

Tested that night and a positive you could've seen from space.

Simbachippy · 22/05/2018 16:06

If you take pain meds does your thumping headache go away?

SinceWhenDid · 22/05/2018 16:17

My 3 day hangover turned out to be that I was pregnant too - didn't know it was so common Grin

narkedwithanarc · 22/05/2018 17:05

You've all got me paranoid now!! Surely I couldn't be pg if I've just had a period! Shock

Every medication has done nothing to rid my headache sadly Sad

POAS is a standard response to anyone that a bit ill on MN. So don't worry OP.

It's highly unlikely you're pregnant. More likely to be a bug or alcohol poisoning.

FASH84 · 22/05/2018 17:09

I thought I was ill a few weeks ago, if I'd been out drinking I would've assumed hangover from hell, it felt the same. Dehydration, pounding headache, tired, achey, queasy. I'm pregnant.

Tink2007 · 22/05/2018 17:09

It’s a possibility as sometimes periods still appear when pregnant or you can have an implantation bleed.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 22/05/2018 17:15

The OP is on the pill and has just had a period. It's unlikely she's pregnant.

narkedwithanarc · 22/05/2018 17:31

Thanks @GreatDuckCookery!

It probably is a bug even though it just feels like a really long hangover! Felt dizzy and nauseous today and really warm at work, but the kind of nausea like I tanked a bottle of tequila Grin

Just hoping it finally starts to shift, to DPs birthday tomorrow!
