To feel hungover 4 days later?

Posting for traffic!

I went out with colleagues on Friday night, first night out in a long time and got a bit mad with it.

Didn't eat much before hand so expected to feel rough but I'm still feeling awful 4 days on?

I've taken gavison, paracetamol, ibuprofen, drank gallons of water and still feel sick and my head is pounding.

DP has (scarily) suggested that I could have had my drink spiked but surely it wouldn't affect me still 4 days after? Surely a hangover shouldn't still be going either! Also on the pill and just finished period so very unlikely to be PG.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Sad

Oh blimey. Lemonade for you then Grin

Helpimfalling · 22/05/2018 18:10

Thirty one and haven't drank in two years but it use to take around four days for recovery for me

Simbachippy · 22/05/2018 18:27

Don’t want to be paranoid.

The last headache I had that did not respond to any pain meds turned out to be meningitis.

I thought it was because I was tired and emotional and after 6 days when the pain became unbearable I went to hospital and just in the nick of time.

narkedwithanarc · 22/05/2018 19:41

@Simbachippy Don't worry, if the headache keeps pounding away I'm going to the walk in at GP in the morning just in case Grin

Just had a thought - could it be a concussion from falling?

I fell off my toilet and hit my face off the floor Blush had a slight nosebleed and a small cut on my nose. I thought my nose was fine now but it's still a bit odd to the touch.

Can a concussion cause prolonged headaches, dizziness and nausea?

You might need to go to a&e because of the head injury.

stoneagemum · 23/05/2018 00:38

Mild concussion and hangover, feel like shit, will feel like shit for 2-4 days, do you have people around you at all times incase not mild concussion?

stoneagemum · 23/05/2018 00:42

IMO most minor bangs from being drunk do t cause issues as to relaxed to cause too much damage, but if not recovered and felling bad 24-48 hours later with nothing other reasons think about it

Semster · 23/05/2018 03:12

The OP is on the pill and has just had a period. It's unlikely she's pregnant.

But not impossible - I conceived while I was on the pill, and I didn't realise for the first two months because my periods arrived bang on time and lasted the usual amount of time.

Sharkwithknees · 23/05/2018 03:58

I was the same, semster. On the pill and had first period as normal! Unusual though!

IlikemyTeahot · 23/05/2018 03:58

Sounds like alcohol poisoning. Though could also be blood sugar levels mucking about as you drank without eating. Flush out with lots of water and try a diaorolyte.

narkedwithanarc · 23/05/2018 08:12

On my way to GP open access right now to see what they think first!Sad hopefully isn't serious, a bit worried now. I do still have a headache etc.

I live alone so unfortunately can't have anyone around me 24/7. I do have plenty of water and diaralyte (sp?)

I guess whatever is wrong, I'll be finding out today!

I hardly ever drink, but had 2 glasses of wine at a wedding last year and felt ill for days. I think it's the sulphates and my age.

narkedwithanarc · 23/05/2018 09:32

Everything checks out and GP thinks I've caught a virus at the same time as my hangover, typical! Grin

Just as I thought. Hope you feel better very soon. Flowers

narkedwithanarc · 25/05/2018 10:18

I still have a horrible headache and dizziness Sad doesn't seem to be improving at all, in fact my headache feels a little worse. I'm also having a lot of pains in my back and my right side. Should I go back to GP? This just doesn't seem right to me.

OP posts:
GreatDuckCookery6211 · 25/05/2018 10:23

Sorry to hear this OP. Might be worth popping back to your GP as you're still not well. Any trouble weeing? Just wondering if you have a water infection with having pain in your back?

justcurious40 · 25/05/2018 10:31

I have had headaches and dizziness after a (minor enough) bang to the head that lasted a few weeks, so your fall could explain that.
But now you also have the pains in your back and your side, so perhaps it would be worth going back to the GP and mentioning those symptoms to be on the safe side.
Hope you feel better soon.

tinydancer88 · 25/05/2018 10:35

I'd go back to the GP today if I was you.

narkedwithanarc · 25/05/2018 10:40

No problems weeing but passing less stools than usual Sad that makes me question if this is a virus because normally I go the loose bowel route.

I'm at work today but I'll see if I can get a dr to call back for a phone consultation and see if it can wait until Monday. Just hope it's me being paranoid!!

I had exactly that - with stitch-like pains in my back and side, and was indeed pregnant. I would test in case it was implantation bleeding and not your period.
