Bloke267580 the NAS would never describe autism as a mental disorder. Ever. Because it’s not. Some people with ASD do experience mental illness, mainly because they find life very hard in a neurotypical world. Sometimes anxiety manifests as lashing out (usually physically), but is is reactionary - fight or flight - not calculated as the OP’s former friend’s behaviour, which is controlling and narcissistic. People with ASD are far more vulnerable to these kind of behaviours rather than exhibiting them themselves. Please educate yourself (or at least think) before you post.

I’m fed up of seeing outrageous, offensive, selfish and nasty behaviour being conflated with autism by fucking armchair medics who haven’t got a clue. It perpetuates myths and stereotypes which are not only dead wrong, they’re unhelpful and damaging.
