Annoying things other posters do

Just wondering what things other posters do that really annoy you?

For me it's the deliberate misconstruing of an opening post and then flaming the OP for something they never actually said or implied.

Also the posters who conjure up wild scenarios to try and prove the OP is BU - "How do you know the woman who pushed you out of the way at the bus stop wasn't rushing home to her seriously ill child and has only 2p in her purse so couldn't afford a taxi. Try to be kinder and less self absorbed in future".

OP posts:
MyotherUsernameisaPun · 27/04/2018 10:29

OP: My husband snapped at me because I was home late'

MNer: is he usually this aggressive?

Or

OP: I'm worried that my kid ate sand

MNer: Are you always this anxious?

Or

OP: my sister isn't coming to my party

MNer: are you always this entitled?

Basically any time a MNer takes the one single the OP is complaining about and then uses it to insinuate that there must be a devastating wider pattern of behaviour!

OyO · 27/04/2018 10:30

Mine is:

OP: People with cats, please can I have your advice on the following complicated and distressing situation...

Always one poster: I don’t have a cat.

... oh. Thanks for the contribution.

Lizzie48 · 27/04/2018 10:32

My pet hate is this type of post.
OP: AIBU?
All Mumsnet: Yes you are.
OP: No, I'm not, because...

I hate them because they're often posted when it really isn't the case. It's just that poster trying to bully the OP into backing down. Hmm

HRTpatch · 27/04/2018 10:32

Not reading the full thread.
Overeacting to a partner's behaviour.
Assuming women can leave a relationship at the drop of a hat.

snash12 · 27/04/2018 10:33

When people "placemark" with just a . or "placemarking" when they could just add the thread to their watchlist or even just write a normal comment!

It's especially bad when the thread is a sad / sensitive one

ClopChops · 27/04/2018 10:34

I hate it when people complain that the thread has been discussed before, or “oh no not another parking thread” “FFS this again” - let people start threads about what they want and if you don’t want to read them don’t open them.

Lizzie48 · 27/04/2018 10:34

Cat or dog haters muscling into any thread about pets, and being really keen to say how unreasonable it is to have them.

MyotherUsernameisaPun · 27/04/2018 10:34

I am sooo guilty of not reading the full thread. Trying to get better though Grin

elQuintoConyo · 27/04/2018 10:35

Not mentioning me on the fequent Who's Your Favourite MNer threads.

Once more and i shall flounce.

Trinity66 · 27/04/2018 10:36

I am sooo guilty of not reading the full thread. Trying to get better though

Same, if it's 14 pages long then you can piss off tbf Grin I do try to read the most of the OPs updates though

PositivelyPERF · 27/04/2018 10:37

People who start threads complaining about posters on Mumsnet, because their way is the only right way.

TerfsUp · 27/04/2018 10:37

Not agreeing with everything I say.

PavlovianLunge · 27/04/2018 10:38

Assuming that someone in dire financial straits can find work or things to sell on eBay at the drop of a hat.

Bitch-plopping.

Thread policing.

Complete failure to grasp that people’s circumstances can differ enormously.

That said, in general, MN is a good place to be, and sometimes brings out the very best in people.

ItchySeveredFoot · 27/04/2018 10:39

When they tag a pp and then put a smiley face or say they agree but don't put a quote from the pp so I have to scroll back for ages to find what it said. I don't memorise every posters name!

Lizzie48 · 27/04/2018 10:39

Posters who come on to threads to moan that it's still going, how boring it's become. Just what is the point of that???

MrsJayy · 27/04/2018 10:39

I luvs ya elQuinto Grin

It really annoys me when a poster takes the trouble of going on a thread to say "have you nothing else to worry about" Hmm

PattiStanger · 27/04/2018 10:39

I don't understand why people post comments like "it must be the school holidays" or "haven't you goen back to school yet" when they think a poster is a troll.

I just can't believe that any school age child would troll on here, does anyone have any instance of this happening? Obviously I can only judge based on my own school age DC and their friends but no way would that ever occur to them to do. Do posters actually know any teenagers that have nothing else to do?

I really don't get it

Marriedwithchildren5 · 27/04/2018 10:40

Op: aibu?
Poster: Yes you are!
Op: Ah I see I am. Thank you!
Posters: No we've not all told you yabu. Cue a further 100 posts informing an already enlightened op!

MrsJayy · 27/04/2018 10:41

I hate the tagging feature itis a waste of energy.

DBoo · 27/04/2018 10:41

I always find the ones where someones oh is out all night and doesn't make contact really weird when people start saying they're an adult. They're allowed to have fun. Why are you worried and so on. I and all of my friends would be worried and maybe even annoyed (not saying it is right) if oh went out didnt make contact and there was still no sign of them by 4am.

That being said where i live there's not many places open till that time.

derxa · 27/04/2018 10:41

The ones who say 'oh wait...'

user1485342611 · 27/04/2018 10:42

Also posters who project their own experiences onto everything.

AIBU to not want my MIL to call over once a month to see her grandchildren? She lives around the corner, and I think 3 times a year would be enough.

YANBU. My MIL is an absolute cow who tried to adopt my kids and take them to Australia. Do not let your MIL anywhere near your children. Go NC as soon as possible.

OP posts:
StarlitTrees · 27/04/2018 10:43

What on earth is bitch plopping??

LifeBeginsAtGin · 27/04/2018 10:43

Reporting you to MNHQ running to teacher when they disagree with you.

Oh, and 'go educate yourself'....

... and posting numerous links which support their argument - like you are going to spend 3 hours reading the 20 links they attached Hmm

Why come on a forum for debate and then you shut down at the first opportunity.

ghostyslovesheets · 27/04/2018 10:43

not reading the fucking thread - drives me mad - the one the other day where the woman had clearly stated her case but posters kept asking the same thing - the answer to which was in her OP!

and bumping zombie threads

oh and laughing at 'light hearted' 'I'm posting as my cat/dog/baby' type threads - fucking inane shit - don't encourage it
