Annoying things other posters do

Just wondering what things other posters do that really annoy you?

For me it's the deliberate misconstruing of an opening post and then flaming the OP for something they never actually said or implied.

Also the posters who conjure up wild scenarios to try and prove the OP is BU - "How do you know the woman who pushed you out of the way at the bus stop wasn't rushing home to her seriously ill child and has only 2p in her purse so couldn't afford a taxi. Try to be kinder and less self absorbed in future".

OP posts:
Ruffian · 27/04/2018 11:22

Posters asking what they should buy in ALDI/LIDL as if they're going to some far-flung country where they don't speak the language.

NorthEndGal · 27/04/2018 11:22

Bitchplopping is when you come in to a thread /conversation and just leave a snarky comment. No engagement, not helpful, just make a sass comment and leave.

ShotsFired · 27/04/2018 11:22

People who are just a bit of a wet blanket describing themselves as "people pleasers" as if it is a medical condition and therefore excuses everything they do in acts of complete subservience.

Get some gumption (we all had to at some point)!

twilightcafe · 27/04/2018 11:22

I'm on a roll now.

Baby names thread. You've asked for opinions from strangers. Don't get shirty because some of them don't like the name you've posted.

If your child's name is featured in a thread title - DO NOT click on it. You'll only get offended that someone thinks your DS/DD's name is boring/chavvy/tryhard etc.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 27/04/2018 11:23

Being much more gung-ho about other people's lives than they ever would be about their own, suggesting that people divorce/home educate/leave a job at the drop of a hat.

Getting their kicks out of belittling others, when their cleverness could be used in more positive ways.

KinkyAfro · 27/04/2018 11:25

The one yesterday about a missing cat, OP asked for positive stories about cats coming back.

A poster: my cat was found dead

Yeah, really positive, thanks

Mookatron · 27/04/2018 11:27

When somebody's dog bites a kid and everyone piles on to say it was the kid's fault. Possibly, but really whose fault it is is beside the point if someone's facially disfigured for life or something.

People who think a mildly funny sweary saying is clever (unless they made it up) like 'fuck the fuck off and when you get there etc'.

Threads where someone's worried about a kid's home life and people say 'report' like we're in the Third Reich or a girls'boarding school. Yes, get the kid some help but it doesn't have to be a 'report'.

Tinkobell · 27/04/2018 11:28

Mumsnet OP
"DH Is constantly pestering me for sex"........many MN respondents "this is abuse....walk away"

Dadsnet OP
"DW never wants sex with me" .......DN respondents
"She's effing useless, dump her mate"

user1485342611 · 27/04/2018 11:30

People who try to make the OP feel bad just because.

OP: AIBU to be fed up of the kids walking muck into the house every - bloody - time - they - come - through - the - door.

Poster: YABU. I have just been diagnosed with a serious illness and probably wouldn't even notice a bit of muck on the floor.

OP posts:
Tinkobell · 27/04/2018 11:31

OP's that don't wrap up the story and leave you hanging on!!! Great thread this week about a devious au pair money swindling couple ....very involving! At the end, the OP just vapourised!
It was liking ripping out the last 2 pages of a great novel 😢😢😢😢

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 27/04/2018 11:32

I hate these

Poster 1 Thank you for starting a new thread

Etc etc

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 27/04/2018 11:34

OP - My husband has just fucked off for a whole weekend without telling me

MN - Book yourself a nice spa weekend

EveningHare · 27/04/2018 11:34

Most of these!!

And posters who put vague titles like
'AIBU?' In AIBU.....!

woollytights · 27/04/2018 11:35

People who fake a 'hilarious' typo and pretend not to notice, hoping hundreds of people will respond pissing themselves at the mistake.

EveningHare · 27/04/2018 11:35

(just add the thread to their watchlist)

You don't get the deletion message if it's just on your watch list, only if you post

woollytights · 27/04/2018 11:37

People who endlessly praise how things are done in other parts of the world, particularly Scandinavia, compared to the UK. Particularly with regards to nudity and children Hmm

PurpleSea · 27/04/2018 11:38

People who ask for advice about something specialist, you spend ages answering and they don't bother thanking you. E.g:

OP: How do I set up a new business? Where do I find clients and market it? Is my business plan good enough?
You: only one to respond and with a well thought-out, informative response that took you 20 mintes to write
OP: silence...

KNain · 27/04/2018 11:43

Ooh, I've remembered another one (this is very cathartic). Someone mentions buying something for an adult for their birthday, and loads of posters moan that they don't buy for adult's birthdays/they never get presents. a) it's not that unusual for adults to buy presents for close friends/family members' birthdays. b) if you want a present from your DP but don't get one, you need to take that up with your DP and c) clearly this poster does exchange gifts with adults, so whatever your arrangements are is completely irrelevant.

Kettlan · 27/04/2018 11:44

And posters who put vague titles like
'AIBU?' In AIBU.....!

This winds me up so much.

drumandthebass · 27/04/2018 11:44

People who say "I didn't want to read and run", but add nothing else, or "someone more
Helpful/knowledgable will be along in a minute"

Their post is pointless IMO

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 27/04/2018 11:46

.

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 27/04/2018 11:50

People who come on to a thread where OP is asking for a specific answer to something and they are just repeating what 50 other posters before them have answered

Example:

OP: can anyone help, what colour is the sky?
Poster 1: blue
Poster 2: blue
Poster 3: blue

And repeat a hundred times

TenancyTroublesAgain · 27/04/2018 11:51

"didn't want to read and run"

Nobody knew whether you were there or not. Either say something or don't, noone cares!!

missmouse101 · 27/04/2018 11:52

Saying 'just that really' after the title. STOP IT. We can read.
Typing 'ect'. (It's etc.)
Putting kisses after their post.
Not proof reading before posting.

Idontevencareanymore · 27/04/2018 11:55

Diagnosers. On here and Facebook.

People can't just be dicks anymore. Kids can't just be a little naughty. It's always "have you considered maybe they're autistic/adhd/add other condition that may excuse behaviour"

Abuse specialists. Sometimes an argument is just an argument. Sometimes an op may be exaggerating in the heat of the moment. Sometimes it's just that there is only one side of the story and of course it's going to sound worse. It's doesn't always have to be an abusive situation.
